I’ve been looking at the price curves on cars like Ferrari and Porsche’s for years and you normally get the best entry price at the 15-20 year mark. Past the 30 year mark they are normally back to the price they were new. A new £100k Ferrari 355 or 993 turbos for example dipped to entry prices of £35-40k and they’re both on their way back to £100k. Past the 40 year mark I’d expect them to be in the £200-400k range. I think the Z3 and Boxster to do similar multiples relative to their original purchase prices and timelines. Man maths definitely helps buying future classics 😂🙌 For me if it’s a mid 90s two seater convertible it’s an SL500 or SL600 all day long 😎🚀
Thanks for stopping by and taking a dump on the little folk with their tiny investments in cars that went from about $3,500-$4,000 going all the way up to $10,000. While you were dumping $35-40k and now heading to $100k. Congratulations, you're a 10 year old playing in the 3-4 year olds sand box!
I had a 1.9 Z3 in Germany but now have a 2.8 Z3, both with manual gearboxes. There is a world of difference between the two versions and the 2.8 truly is a sports car.
I’ve never liked them , but I was given a 2.8 by a friend 12 years ago , I’ve still got it and it’s grown on me over the years , it actually looks a lot better now then it did 20 years ago
I just love the vibe at 6:48 ! this is exactly how it's done: hats for men, waving scarves for the women, roof down and enjoying the ride! This is why I love my z3's
I have a Z3 since 2013 I love this car I will never be able to sell it! It puts a smile on my face every ride! I get compliments on it all the time and it's been very reliable. You can't go wrong with a good well maintained Z3!
I bought a used 328i coupe last year..new to BMW... I parked at a store and saw a BMW Z3 sitting there ten feet away... I couldn't walk away! I spoke to the owner for a minute... Everything about the styling, interior, etc...perfect combo'. Now..7 months later... need to shop for a used Z3 in a few months. (or a newer one...if crypto goes well..)
since june 2020 I am the fair owner of a "modest" bmw z3, a simple 1.9i titansilber from 2001 that makes my heart beat faster every time I enter the garage. I have wanted it since I was 13, in 1995, and when my husband gave it to me I swear I couldn't believe it ... it still seems like a dream to me !!! It is so well preserved that I am preparing the papers to make it "gold plate" (the highest prestige for a vintage car, here in Italy). I love it and would not sell it for the world
Nice my grandparents are Italian and I was born and raised there first five years of my life. Didn't even think of gold plating this, now I'll have to also! Rock the vintage for everyone to see 🙂
He nailed the overall essence of this roadster. I have had my 1997 25 years come April. It is finally arriving at the classic stage I knew it would. When he said it just makes you feel special, I knew he truly understands a Z3. It is for lack of a better term…, a savory dish meant to be enjoyed without haste.
I saw this video a few months ago, and I just bought a 1996 BMW Z3 Roadster last weekend. Silver and red just like this one, but with a black top and a 5 speed manual transmission. 51k miles. I absolutely love it! Thanks for the video!
I own a 2001 z3 3.0i. I clocked 0-60 at 5.4 seconds with no engine mods (had a sport exhaust installed, other than that its completely stock). Definitely a dynamic sports car if you have the bigger engine! Great review Freddie
I've had an mgb gt and I've got a 2.2 z3 now and it is 100% all the classic car enjoyment with much less of the hassle. Best car I've owned, so great to drive
First time on your channel. Love the old-school vibes in this video. Just love it. And a proud silver '97 Z3 owner here too. I have the 1.9 and it's loads of fun. It has the M suspension and that does improve its feel and feedback. I've had it for 3 years now, and every single time I walk up to it, I smile. Just love it. Even in winter when it does get cold :)
Thinking to get one now. I was told the rooftop is very loud. And even when closed the heating doesn’t get the car warm very easily. What is your opinion about that? I thought about using a seat heating and everything should be fine.
@@MathieuDeVinois hey! yeah, it's pretty loud. But tbh, what do we expect? It's just a bit of fabric. Hardtop might be better, but for me, it's part of the driving experience :) :) my car is parked outside and it only takes a few minutes for it to heat up. I think the heater is from a 3 series or something because man, that thing, once it gets going, heates up the small cockpit very well :)) sure, it's chilly when it's below zero and it's not a modern car, but it's a perfectly driveable 365 days/year car.
@@seppevb1181 thank you. Well, still in winter season there are wonderful sunny days where I might want to open the top. Only important that I can drive the whole year :) as a teacher used to say: „there is no bad weather. There’s only bad equipment“ XD
The pre facelift 6 cylinder car and m models rear ends are my favorite I like the facelift models too but my least favorite is the 4 cylinder car rear ends a little to skinny
Having owned z3 coupe a 2.8 coupe I do believe The 1.9 allows for a maximum driving experience, I love my 96’ manual with 48k miles, no issues, nearly bulletproof engine (probably as good as the M30 engines on the old E34 535i’s) excellent gas mileage, not a lot of electronics just pure mechanical driving pleasure.
Thank you this is probably the best Z3 review out there, not just driving and commenting how the car feels, but it feels more like sharing a vibe, beautiful filming, beautiful car in a beautiful location, holiday vibes. A gorgeous video ❤❤❤
I want to add my voice as one who also appreciates your adding auto related content. Honestly, it’s your enthusiastic and articulate commentary about your passions and discoveries that make your videos so entertaining, whether they be about motorcycles, cars, cafés, quaint villages or spectacular vistas. Plus Monika’s editing and music montages keep the pace moving.
I was fortunate to come into a bit of money last year, soon after we’d moved out to rural area with some great country roads. For the first time in my car-loving life, I started craving a drop-top. Looked at various MGBs, Chimeras etc but you nailed it in this review - Z3 has a bit of that classic roadster vibe while still being modern enough for airbags etc, and I feel like the shape has aged gracefully compared with contemporaries like original TT/SLK etc. A lovely little 3.0i facelift came up for sale locally and I couldn’t resist. As you say, it’s never going to beat an Elise on the bends but that big straight-six up front and the faithful roadster layout (none of this new-fangled, mid-engined Elise/MGF nonsense…) with big longitudinally-mounted six up front under that long bonnet gives the vibe of a Healey or TVR S. It’s addictive stuff and the engine note is wonderful too. I love it! (although kinda wish it had the red leather seats of your car rather than standard boring BMW black)
4 months ago, I bought a 2001 3 0i with 43,800 miles. It's fast at 5.6 seconds 0-60 mph and 155 mph top speed. I own a couple 911s, but something about the Z3 keeps me driving it 4 to 5 times a week. Go buy one now.
Absolutely bang on RUclips assessment of the Z3. I just picked up the 5 speed manual '02 2.5i and I could not be happier. I will throw every expendable dollar I have to keep it running as German engineers intended. It's a love affair with the visceral, pragmatic, and raw driving experience the Z3 provides. Top down, sunshine, and just drive.... does not matter where the destination is.
Being a Z3 owner since -03. I have seen the prices gone down and then up, I have a full speced Z3 M. Similar cars in the spring jumps up to $40000 or above, some low mileage models jump more than $60000. If you want one, buy in the fall or winter.
You totally nailed it, nowadays buying this kinda car is not about being fast, many modern cars will be faster, but it's about how we feel, what this kinda car transmits, nostalgia of a past era where we had plenty of roadsters and coupes available ❤
I got a 2l auto 40k miles last year for 4k, just because I thought it was beautiful. An unexpected thing enjoy most about it now is the engine. I didn't know about engine configs before, now I'm an inline-6 fan! Beautiful sound, and so perfectly smooth. Very happy so far :)
Got one in 2020 for $5k USD. 2002 3.0 in silver at 115k mi. Never touched snow, no rust. Spent another 5k in maintenance over two years. Just needs a new top, paint the front bumper and upgrade the wheels from 17s to 18s. People who don’t know a lot about them think they are more expensive that it is. I get compliments wherever I go. This car will be a classic with time.
I recently purchased a relatively low miles (130,000) Z3. I went for the 2001 model year 3.0i with the 5 Speed Manual, black interior, and 15 spoke multi-spoke 17" wheels. That combination proved VERY hard to find but I was determined. I am completely in love with the car. It is a charming, great looking with the standard wide body, incredibly quick. BMW quotes 225hp and I'm willing to bet it's making every bit of those horses at the wheels.
Great video, I absolutely love the Z3 so bought one in June 22 for 5k and it's the 3.0L. need a bit of tlc but so worth it Amazing car to drive, highly recommend
Agree blast to drive. Have a 2000 M Roadster and it is everything i want in a driver performance car. I had a 2003 Z4 roadster but did not feel the same, then I went to a 2007 Z4 Coupe, best looking car i have ever owned but nothing beats the drive in a M Roadster.
I am 35 and just made my driving license. (Yes late..) I need it for my job now. And only thought about renting cars occasionally first. While doing my license lessons it came to me that it’s wise to buy a cheap car to get practice. So I looked around more or less unsatisfied about what rubbish you get for your money. Found a decent offer for a boring car and visited the dealer. Where I saw a green z3 from 97 covered in dust in a corner of his workshop. My sister (a car addict who drove me to the dealer) asked him about it and he said that it needs to be maintained and he’ll need some months for it. We all had a small talk when the dealer said.: „Look, you can have that (boring) car the moment you have your license and I’ll make you a price. But I see you aren‘t that motivated. That Z3 makes you light up. It’s looking poor now. But when I am finished he’s like new.“ nothing wrong with having fun with your car. So, I‘ll start refurbishing it and call you when I know I’ll finish him so you can make an appointment to let the car get checked while having your test drive.“ so now (3 months later) I have my license. The z3 is nearly ready and I am really thinking about to buy it when the final check doesn’t open up serious questions. Especially as the price is reasonable and all those ugly cars aren’t much cheaper either. They are not as old and have less miles. But, are basically worthless. That video motivated me even more as buying that fun car doesn’t seem to be an endless flow of costs. It’s more an investment. With fun.
Beautiful Hommage to the undervalued Z3. As you well said, you don't buy a classic for the performance, but for the simple reason it's pleasing to drive. I own a BMW Z3 1.9 and it never fails to make me smile when I take her out!
Freddie - you are my favorite car enthusiast reviewer. Thank you for this beautiful look at a timeless classic. I have had one for 10 years and just got hit by a dump truck. I bought a 2001 today to replace it and it has only 65K on it. Can't wait to wave if I see you on the road.
Absolutely brilliant video, in my favourite car,and in my favourite holiday destination.I was glued to this, you have a very professional vibe that just kept me watching.I’ve had my 1.9 1997 Z3 in the Bond Spec Atlanta Blue !! since June 2020,and everything you said in the video is just how I feel when driving it. I am actually showing it at the Stars & Cars childrens charity event at the Bolton Arena on Sunday the 10th of April..Just look for the 60 years of Bond area..
Hi Freddie and Monica - I bought a 2011 TTS 9 months ago for 6k GBP and 70km. Changed the timing belt and the radiator along with a full service and I LOVE it! Purring like a kitten since! Totally agree - it's a feeling you have when driving these beauties - the essence of adventure and absolute pleasure e ery time I turn the key and hear the 2l engine gargle, then the pop of the turbo. It's simply a beautiful thing. Enjoy and thank again for a great vlog.
My favorites in order would be z3, z4 and SLK. Would love The z3 with a 3.0l engine. Great video and very nice to see Monika back with her cute sandals 😊 Also, those cakes looked delicious 😋
I did purchase in 2019 a Z3 3.0 with 92 000 kms. Mint conditions, absolutely trouble free, fully loaded with chrome package, harman kardon, CC, Stunning topaz blue color… At the marvelous price of 14k€. Bought it completely accidentaly, I just sold a Mercedes CLS 350 at that time (I’ve always been more attracted by big land yacht), I was looking for its successor when a friend lent me a Z4 2.5 wich I found brilliant. Then, I started to look for Z3 2.8s as I prefer the look and the overall old school feeling of Z3s… One day, my 3.0 popped out in Netherland, I took the biggest risk of my entire life buying it absolutely blind… Best decision in my Life, I drove it back to France and I enjoy it since that day. The car is absolutely trouble free and is a blast to drive. Today, good luck finding one for less than 17 or 18k on the continent… As a car guy, of course I sometime feel like I want to sell it. But then, one only question ever remains : which other car could I buy for 14k, that fun and that enjoyable ? Even for 20 000 or 25 000k, wich car could bring that much pleasure with the peace of mind that offers a Z3 ? For that, reason, I will try to keep it as long as possible. PS : That being said, I have one tip to share with those that are looking for this car : don’t overconsider only buying the 3L. I think that it doesn’t bring that much of a difference compared to the 2.8. Addition to that, prices are still a tick lower for 2.8s and there is plenty more cars with this engine. In the end, you will pay more for the 3.0, but the difference is mainly in your head in everydays conditions. Plus, 1.9 with 140hp for much cheaper are also very recommendable, just focus on manual transmissions 😉 Cheers. Vincent
I recently picked up a manual 2.5l model here in the states. I was entertaining an Mx5 and some other roadsters and small sporty cars from the 90s - early 2000s. Prices on most of my Highschool “dream cars” have shot through the roof these past couple years. Then I remembered the z3. Once I started perusing the classifieds I was really pleased to see prices for Z3s were still pretty reasonable. It’s as if the secret wasn’t out yet. Like the casual car fans had yet to discover there were other real-wheel drive 2 seater roadsters out there of this era. I ultimately purchased a well-kept and unmolested Z3 and its been a joy
Me ha gustado mucho el vídeo. Conduzco un BMW Z4 3.0 a diario desde hace 4 años, y realmente disfruto mucho con el por las carreteras de nuestra isla. Gracias una vez más por la opción de los subtítulos en español. Saludos!
Have two, a 1999 and a 2000. Cool because they have suttle changes so I can pick which I want to roll with. I mod the 1999 (160,000mi) and plan on keeping the 2000 (97,000) stock. Both are 2.5L 5-Speed manuals. 99 is Sterling Grey and the 2000 is Impala Brown. Will never sell either, they bring me true happiness.
So true,i have the slk.and z3.1.9.and i sold them and i looked at quite afew z4.and decided on buying a z3 again but this time i got the 2.8L.it put a smile on my face everytime i drive it.i just loving driving real slow or real fast with a customed mufflers and aftermarket upgrades it look cool as hell.thanks
Oh well....I will be in the market for a Z3 in the spring,2022. Have a 328i Coupe...but I saw a Z3 in the parking lot a few months ago...and couldn't take my eyes off of it. It's a work of art! Note: 5 minutes later... I'm hooked. Just Gotta Have it!
Absolut dreamcar, I made a dream come true and bought a Z3 M Roadster 3 years ago. In beautiful condotions. With now 86‘000km, estoril blue metalic, jg 2000. Everytime i start the S50B32 engine I have goosebumps and even today because the eingine is in fantastic condotion it runs easy to his 7500rpm 😁
Dealer here asking 15,500 CAD for a white 1999 1.9L 155KMS, another is 20,000 CAD for a 1999 2.0L Blue 104KMS and a third one for 20,000 CAD for a 2000 2.0L gray with 67,000KMS - all 3 are manual tranny’s and aesthetically in good shape in and out, can’t speak as to their motors or suspension. So seeing as you said 10,000 minimum in 4 years. It would appear that time is actually now here in Canada at least. Our dollar is about 1.6 bucks to your pound. Also great video and thank you for sharing your day with us, that looked like a lot of fun.
It's a good thing there are so many of them, or else I'd put a hex on you for promoting my favorite fun roadster! I have owned, in chronological yet disparate order: 97 2.8 manual, 00 2.5 auto, 01 3.0 manual, 98 1.9 manual, and 01 3.0 auto! The slight downside is that my 95 MX5 was better on level elevation twisty slalom like roads, or in autocross. But the NA couldn't keep up on mountain roads. And neither of them can keep up with my 986 Boxster on a mountain road. But the Z3 is the best for cruising, funnest all around, and most exciting in the turns. It's the only car I can hang my arm down over the door since my Triumph GT6 back in the 70's. And they are sooo different and unique from one configuration to another that it's like owning different car models. I bought my 95 MX5 for $1,200 in 2016 needing a top and a new fuel pump (replaced tank as well), sold it for $8k in Dec '21, and had offers for $10k after I had already accepted a deposit at $8k. The take away is Miata Is Always The Answer. So go buy one of those!
Yup I saw one come up here in Vegas and now I've been rewatching goldeneye to hype myself up to buy it. I pray there's nothing wrong with the one I saw and I can get it soon
My 01 3.0i is about to hit 200,000 miles and I've had it for almost 11 years and I've never loved any car more. The M54B30 engine is in some trim of every model of early 2000s bmw so parts are easy to find. Car's been to the shop once (mistake) and I've done everything else myself. Car can basically be rebuilt with your grandma's tool kit, incredibly easy to work on. Looks fantastic, so much fun to drive, great power, great reliability. I will never sell it (and people have offered me twice it's value) because nothing else fancier or nicer brings me as much joy to drive.
Sweet video! And just bought a 2001 2.2 z3 sport! Had Boxster S and Z3 coupe before, even 650i before this roadster and still lusting for next summer with this great little roadster :)
I just appreciate this video. I have my 2000 Z3 that I bought for $2,000 USD. What a bargain. I just love driving to the beach and cruising the canyons in California on this car.

As strong as they made allot of these BMW E36 Z3’s back in the day and if you religiously maintain and take care of them I’ve seen these cars with 500,000 miles on them still running strong.
I was in the roadster market about 10 years ago, and at the time I looked at Z3, Z4, H2000, Boxster and Mx-5. Wasn’t looking at specific years, but was looking for cars in the $10-15k range, and was absolutely looking for a manual. I know people love the Honda and the Porsche, but for me they felt like they would be good if you were pushing them to their limits on a track, but were a bit rough to just enjoy a leisurely drive around town. The Z3 has the prestige, but lacked a lot of performance. The Z4 was brilliant - had the elegance and prestige but also the performance to match. Comfortable at low speed but a maniac if you pushed it at all. The price was the highest of the lot and the seller a jerk so I passed. Wound up with the ‘05 Mazdaspeed Miata, which had extra performance and styling upgrades, and immaculately maintained by the owner. Great combination of laid back fun when you want it and thrilling performance when you find the right road. Love the channel - keep up the good work!
I bought my 2000 2.5 manual Z3 in 2020. I was monitoring Boxsters, MX-5s, and Z3s. Found a good deal with a removable hardtop and all the little BMW extras for $7500. Excellent shape interior. I decided to pull the trigger and buy it because I had read two articles that summer stating that the Z3 was at the absolute bottom of the price curve and they were going to start going up. Looking at Autotrader I bet I could sell it for $10,000 today. Maybe more since it includes the hardtop. Those are rare.
Currently looking at a beautiful z3 with 145k miles but the exterior and interior is astonishing looking at getting for about 5k US dollars hopefully I can have the same joy I seen you have driving it
I have a 2000 Z3 and I love it, converted to standard clutch & flywheel, also MagnaFlow exhaust, I don't use the radio in that car, don't want to disturb the purr , you can put your elbow out the window, you can't do that with a Z4, the high door line for safety turns me off. I also have a 97 Land Rover Discovery, I think it will be a classic too. Paid 8K for mine about 10 years ago.
Really nice video Freddie. Nice blend of music and videography. I have a 99 2.0l inline 6 which I bought on 89k miles, after 2.5 years its on 104k. it is a car which is a head turner, you barely see these on the road anymore. When you have the roof down, It makes all the difference! I daily drive it and have driven in all conditions except snow and it holds its own. Its not the fastest but when you hit that 4000 rpm range, you have to have a smile on your face
The Porsche Boxster would be my choice having owned a more recent 981 GTS model, but the older models that saved Porsche are great cars too and I'd argue a better drivers car than most you mentioned. Good condition cars with provenance are becoming very desirable.
Excellent point- I’m not really sure why I brushed over the Boxster- possibly I class it in my mind as one level above in terms of badge and running costs, but you’re right- it needs to be in there and will be/is a very desirable classic/classic in the waiting
@@FreddieDobbs All classics can be expensive to run, but the Porsche 986 has a reputation of being reliable, a prestige marque, mid-engine 6 cylinder (sounds great) rear wheel drive; so great handling and available from £6-7k, but prices are rising! The 1996-2004 specs: Year Engine and power Transmission 0-100 km/h Top speed 1996 2.5L, 204 PS (201 hp; 150 kW) Manual 6.9 seconds 240 km/h (149 mph) Tiptronic 7.6 seconds 235 km/h (146 mph) I acknowledge your point about a classic is for cruising, but it's nice to have the 'power' option :) What's not to like? @@FreddieDobbs You've missed the boat with the Boxster. They bottomed out at AU$10k and are now sitting around the $20-25k range. I could also have bought a Cayman - essentially the same car but without the sunroof - for AU$30k a very few years ago. They're a minimum of $50k now.
I think you are correct here Freddie. bought a 1990 318is E30 ten years ago for £1695. just sold it for £13.2K. I didn't spend any money on it other than service items. Was garaged and seriously pampered though!
Good video. In Tenerife it is normal to suffer from altitude sickness and ear pain when descending, since it is a lot of height in a few km. Freddie, I feel like we're going to meet up on the road soon, hehe. Greetings
Freddie enjoyed your video and review.Z3 is a lovely car and bargain roadster. My mates wife had one as a company car the year they was released , the car with a 2.8 engine.
The best Modern Zunder Z4 future for me is the six cylinder E89. It is so pretty and you can see The BMW 507 lines in it everywhere, It really is a beautiful car. People always look twice if they like cars when walking past one. Especially the 35is model as it has The identical 1M engine in it. They are already collectable. This model just escaped peoples attention.
Loved the intro Freddie 👌 You can't beat a bit of open top driving. I remember my wife and I looking at buying a SLK some years ago and I'm discussing technical issues with the seller and suddenly my wife shouts "We've got to buy this car" She had found the cup holder which popped out the dash and rotated 90 degrees before dropping into position. Most expensive cup holder I've ever bought 🤣
Hilarious thing about those "bling" cupholders is my old Toyota Van from 1995 had similar ones in the rear of the center armrest. Subaru Legacy's from the early 90s have similar pop and fold double holders in the dash. Mercedes finally caught up.
Man maths definitely helps buying future classics 😂🙌
For me if it’s a mid 90s two seater convertible it’s an SL500 or SL600 all day long 😎🚀
This is a great insight Adam, thank you🙌🏻
Thanks for stopping by and taking a dump on the little folk with their tiny investments in cars that went from about $3,500-$4,000 going all the way up to $10,000. While you were dumping $35-40k and now heading to $100k. Congratulations, you're a 10 year old playing in the 3-4 year olds sand box!

Great review Freddie
just bought the same one last month and I'm too scared to drive it hard because its such a time capsule piece lol
Which exhaust did you buy?
Just bought a 2002 2.2 z3 a week before this video was posted. Absolute blast of a car, couldn't be happier with the purchase.
Haha no way! And a great engine choice- I can imagine the 2.2 fits perfectly👌🏻
I finally got my Z3 Back After Selling It Last Year. Same Colorway! My Favorite BMW
I just bought a ‘98 Z3 2.8L with manual transmission. Love it! I’ll probably still be driving it 10 years from now. It’s so much fun.
Many thanks for this great Video ! I bought my 1997 Z3 1.8 twenty -two years ago and I drive it almost every day. Really good fun !
Checking in with a 98 2.8
Purchased 2000 130k miles
Never sell army 👊👊👍👍
on my second, had a 2.8 in the day....totally mental, now have the 1.9...far more balanced....26years old this year!
Owed two, currently have the 2.8 pre face lift manual with 40k miles on her. Love it, love it. 👍😎
I went from 5.7 Charger to 3.0i Z3 and I can’t get enough of it 😍 True modern classic in the making
A super review, a quality and genuine production, Thank you!
Buen vídeo amigo. Tengo la versión 2.8 de 1999. Está subiendo mucho su valor🙏
$60k lol I know u love your car I love my z3 too but $40-$60k lol
@@garrettstrutz7421 My man Peter is talking about an M3 Z3
Love your calmness, your voice and accent
You totally nailed it, nowadays buying this kinda car is not about being fast, many modern cars will be faster, but it's about how we feel, what this kinda car transmits, nostalgia of a past era where we had plenty of roadsters and coupes available ❤
I got a 2l auto 40k miles last year for 4k, just because I thought it was beautiful. An unexpected thing enjoy most about it now is the engine. I didn't know about engine configs before, now I'm an inline-6 fan! Beautiful sound, and so perfectly smooth. Very happy so far :)
Had ours for over 10 years. Parked in a garage most of that time. Not driven for over 2 years. A great car.
I bet you’ve no plans to sell, Michael!🙂
@@FreddieDobbs definitely not after watching your video 👍
June 2023. Autotrader UK has a few from around £1500
Freddie, you’ve absolutely nailed this one. This car has so much heritage and looks that I can’t see you being wrong.
I have a 1998 Z3 2.8L BMW atlantablau-metallic Automatic with 45,000 miles on it. North of Chicago Illionois
Great video, I absolutely love the Z3 so bought one in June 22 for 5k and it's the 3.0L. need a bit of tlc but so worth it
Amazing car to drive, highly recommend
One year since this video. When are the prices going up?
Need to have the 3l silky smooth 6 lot though. Glad you had fun. Amazing roads there to drive on.
I own a BMW Z3 1.9 and it never fails to make me smile when I take her out!
the way you speak and the way the camera is following you kept my eyes plugged in the entire video :D
Don’t think Freddie is much of a car authority!
"The BMW Z3 prices are About to Go Through the Roof."
He was right..
My favorites in order would be z3, z4 and SLK. Would love The z3 with a 3.0l engine. Great video and very nice to see Monika back with her cute sandals 😊 Also, those cakes looked delicious 😋
And if you have a M version , its jackpot!!
100%- incredibly desirable cars!🙌🏻🙌🏻
😍🤤
I did purchase in 2019 a Z3 3.0 with 92 000 kms. Mint conditions, absolutely trouble free, fully loaded with chrome package, harman kardon, CC, Stunning topaz blue color… At the marvelous price of 14k€.
Bought it completely accidentaly, I just sold a Mercedes CLS 350 at that time (I’ve always been more attracted by big land yacht), I was looking for its successor when a friend lent me a Z4 2.5 wich I found brilliant. Then, I started to look for Z3 2.8s as I prefer the look and the overall old school feeling of Z3s… One day, my 3.0 popped out in Netherland, I took the biggest risk of my entire life buying it absolutely blind…
Best decision in my Life, I drove it back to France and I enjoy it since that day. The car is absolutely trouble free and is a blast to drive. Today, good luck finding one for less than 17 or 18k on the continent…
As a car guy, of course I sometime feel like I want to sell it.
Plus, 1.9 with 140hp for much cheaper are also very recommendable, just focus on manual transmissions 😉
Cheers. Vincent
Nah! Mines an auto and it’s a go kart Zed!
Beautiful Z3!! Definitely a future classic! Great video!! Thank you for showcasing this BMW!
Lovely video and tracks. Bought myself a 2001 3.0i manual with 67000 kms for a steal in 2020.
Great car. I own almost exactly the same car you’ve shown here, 1996 1.9 16v engine but with a manual gearbox. It’s an absolute joy to drive.
Oh well....I will be in the market for a Z3 in the spring,2022.
Have a 328i Coupe...but I saw a Z3 in the parking lot a few months ago...and couldn't take my eyes off of it.

Note: 5 minutes later... I'm hooked. Just Gotta Have it!

Always loved the z3 and i can see prices going up pretty quick
Nice video Freddie but you were off the mark with your 2024 prediction, there are currently 40 Z3's on auto trader for less than £5k.
Awesome video 👍👍👍I bought mine Z3 because of videos like this 👍👍👍 hello from Kazakhstan 🇰🇿
Thought all the M roadsters had an s52 1998-2000 and an s54 2001-2002 for an engine
A trouble free car with less electronics unlike the Z4.
I owned one some years ago. I love this Z3.
I love mine with a standard transmission That’s what makes it fun to drive!

I own a 1997 JDM Z3 1.9. Great car and got it for 10 grand converted. Now my dad bought a 2022 Z4 M40i, the Z3's youngest successor.

Currently looking at a beautiful z3 with 145k miles but the exterior and interior is astonishing looking at getting for about 5k US dollars hopefully I can have the same joy I seen you have driving it
May I ask what is the microphone you are using? quality is excellent. cheers
Z3 is one of a BMW icon, for sure!
Totally agree with your sentiment , had bought one new in 99 fully loaded. Great cinematography and music btw.
The 1996-2004 specs:
Year Engine and power Transmission 0-100 km/h Top speed
1996 2.5L, 204 PS (201 hp; 150 kW) Manual 6.9 seconds 240 km/h (149 mph)

@@DGBYRNE I can't argue with that re the power- it's a real sign of the times when the manual option was so much faster than the tiptronic!

You can't beat a bit of open top driving.
Brilliant!!🤣🥤
Luckily the Z3 didn’t have any cup holders, otherwise I may have been in a similar position with Monika!😆☕️
Hilarious thing about those "bling" cupholders is my old Toyota Van from 1995 had similar ones in the rear of the center armrest. Subaru Legacy's from the early 90s have similar pop and fold double holders in the dash. Mercedes finally caught up.
Recognised Puerto de la Cruz, fair play spend many years there 👍
I bought one last year.... amazing car.
Bought one of these 2 months ago, an absolute cherry and 41k miles all service history on glove box. Paid 5k! Flipped it for $7500 30 days later.
Baloney. They're either very affordable,or priced off the charts.Makes it tough to find a good selling price.
