Wouldn't it have been easier to get a translator from Spanish to Portuguese (extremely easy person to find) who could have quickly said it to the priest in Portuguese and the priest would have been able to give a quick and precise translation into Tetum. The priest's body language looked like he couldn't understand a chunk of the Spanish and was put on the spot.
