Omg I followed your tutorial and it finally clicked in my head and I got a seamless pattern now. I had been trying to learn watching others videos and I couldn’t get it. This one makes the most sense to me! Thank you so much ❤
I followed along and copied step by step. Slowed the playback speed to about half and paused a lot for my pace. It was exactly what I was hoping to learn!! ❤ Thank you so much!😊
Thanks so much for this tutorial, Jess. Your duplicate layer 4x and then transform is waaay easier than dragging the duplicates left, down and right like I’ve seen in other videos.
Why do so many people over complicate it? They go you need to go half up half down then side to side before going diagonally. And by then my canvas looks atrocious. Whyyy. This was so simple.
Have you made your background on a new layer? You can’t move the original background that’s part of the canvas, so you have to make a new layer and then color it. Hope this helps. 😊
I’ve seen other videos that snap each copy left, right, up, then down. Is this the same as just going into the four corners? And can you just keep repeating the four corner steps after you add in more detail?
Hey Jess. How do you keep the background color separate from the drawing? I'd like to be able to swap out the colors easily, but they're all on one layer for the bottom sketch. Please help?
When she pinched all the layers together at around 3:42 in the video it combined the line art with the background color. If you want the line art alone, delete the green layers out of each group before pinching them together. Then you can change the background color around to see which colors you like and add the to a base layer later if you want.
@@YagirlM I found I couldn’t duplicate the sketch without the background unless I saved it out and a transparent png and and then imported it back in. Then I unhid my colored background layer. Then I duplicated the sketch and did the drag to corners thing and merged like she did without the background color in the group, just the sketch. So now I can fill the background and the sketch layers independently.
God bless your detailed teaching!!!

Super helpful, Jess! Yours is the first of several seamless pattern tutorials that actually made sense start to finish!

Thanks!!
That was helpful thank you ❤
I made an annoyed black girl emoji pattern, I love it. Thank you
I cant group the layer and background for some reason! Does anyone have a fix for this?
Step problem. I cannot place the sketch under the background color layer. Why?

Yes! It’s the same thing and you can keep adding detail (as long as it doesn’t touch the corners).

Thank you!
so hard to follow, if this is supposed to be for beginners at least layers should start with 1 to easy to follow
Thanks so much
