I was thinking she was downplaying it because she was thinking about what was best for Julian. However she played it, the interviews that I’ve seen of Julian...he is well spoken, respectful, introspective, and seemingly well-balanced...she did a wonderful job.
G F, I read one interview with John, at the time he and Yoko Ono became an item, in which he said of his relationship with Cynthia, "Cyn got pregnant, so I married her." I wondered from that time on if he ever really loved Cynthia, or if he simply "did the right thing" by marrying her.
Disagree. The interviewer is simply reflecting the questions the PUBLIC wanted to know - ie. trying to cover all the bases in the time allowed. In fact, compared to some interviewers of the time I thought John Stapleton had quite a gentle and interested approach.
@@johnrroberts7900 I agree . THe questions are fine and simple and obvious .What question would you ask her ? where did she buy her shoes ? lol Good interview .
She was also still a stunningly beautiful, sultry and very sexy woman when this interview was filmed. A classy lady. John must have been clinically insane to dump her for that awful witch Yoko Ono. I wonder if he ever regretted it? R.I.P Cynthia Lennon.
I've always admired the way she has led her life and the way she raised Julian. It broke my heart when she passed, as I know it affected Julian deeply. He is such a fine man.
This interviewer seems to want to blame the woman for John's death IF she could of done it all different. Seriously? John was his own person and no one stops a man when he decides to go. She is so kind and lovely. Bless her heart.
Great interview ... not because of the interviewer who only wanted to dig dirt, but because she shone as a classy, intelligent, thoughtful lady who refused to hate. Good on you Cynthia, John was blessed to have you in his life.
There's something so incredibly gentle, accepting and loving about this lady yet... She must in some way be tough as nails to have kept herself and her sanity together amidst and after the madness that was the life of the Beatles PLUS she managed to raise a son who turned into a thoughtful, real man with a true heart. What she was AFTER her divorce from John and the man her son turned out to be is the most remarkable thing in this whole story. ALL the rest, as real as it was, is just sensationalism.
It was amazing the way Cynthia made herself into a star. She wrote books, TV interviews, serialised her story in the Daily Mail etc. Without John her life would have gone unnoticed. Ringo married Maureen when she was pregnant and later divorced her, but Maureen never played the jilted wife or ever tried to cash in on her fame. Cynthia just milked her connection with John for everything she could get, though I don't blame her.
It was because people were asking her too... she was reluctant to do things but people wanted to hear her side of the story too so she was asked to do interviews and things of that nature. Besides like someone mentioned she didn't really get a lot of money from John. Stop portraying her in this negative light. Also, Cynthia was in fact abandoned, and so was Julian, so if people ask her about the situation she's not going to sugarcoat it. John straight up left her and when he moved to the states abandoned Julian for 3 years. Learn your facts, she's not pretending this is all genuine and shit if she makes money explaining her side of the story she damn well deserves it.
The interviewer asked many inappropriate and personal questions without any consideration of how his guest will feel! I think she has done a fantastic job and shown her class the way she handled all this nonsense.
She has heard it all before, has all the answers off pat, and they probably discussed it before the interview, what he would be asking. Rehearsed. She has always been very open about what happened, so I think she is up for it.
I love how she said she would have been stronger to get the drugs and "users/imposters" out. She is a loving, beautiful and forgiving person. I love that she talks about her dream. It's so important to keep your dream (whatever your dream is). I love that she was more comfortable "being" and that she's not materialistic. She was in love, madly, and that she said she was vulnerable as they all were. She just wanted to be with him and that is true love. I'm so sorry that John was not a good Dad due to drugs. :( Drugs rob a child of their parent. I don't care who you are, your child is your child. Never disown your own flesh and blood. This is a big mistake and don't rob them of their inheritance. Don't let a gold digger steal your child's inheritance.

Cynthia has such a calming, soothing voice. And her son Julian has inherited her same soft-spoken and gentle demeanor, including her inflections. Like mother like son.
This woman had such a kind and upstanding character - something that is rarely seen in the world no matter the era. She had every right to hate on both John and Yoko - John for not having the integrity to stick around to be the father their son needed, and Yoko who notoriously came between the little family they once were - yet she chose not to say a single cross word about either of them. In my opinion, that makes her one hell of a class act, and a tremendous example of an upstanding human being. I'm sure she must be missed so dearly.
She's so ladylike and calm, when this interviewer seems to try and dig up dirt. Why John left her for Yoko is puzzling as Yoko is what I'd describe as a man eater as the song goes. Bet she'd have ditched John if the waters got rough later on too.

Yeah, possibly for Julian's sake. But John didn't deserve the excuses she made for him. And I say this as a woman who had a terrible crush on John; and that's odd, because even so, I always knew he had that scummy, low side of him. As a matter of fact, his Aunt Mimi, who mostly raised John, said to him, "You always go for the low types, don't you, John?" Well, that statement certainly was borne out when he fell in love with Yoko Ono.
