Amen, Pastor John! I was homeschooled and private schooled all the way up. I learned so much about the Lord. When I became a full grown adult, I had a high quality education, a booming social life, and skills to add value to this world in Jesus' name!
I see that you are experienced, which one is the best to brainwash my children for the glory of christ? Im afraid they might learn something dangerous at normal schools... you know what I mean
My children do an online, Baptist homeschool. Many of the kids in their high school group, homeschool. It has been one of the best decisions we’ve ever made. They also love Pastor Piper. Our Pastor has quoted Pastor Piper the past two weeks. I feel blessed to be able to homeschool my children. Christ is the center of our home.
Parents, as a student raised in public schools, be very cautious if ur child ends up going to public schools. That's the catalyst that exposes them to cursing, pornography, bad habits, etc.
Brian Garcia Hernandez I attended a private Christian school for all of my years and was still exposed to all of that - not at school but in the world around me. Habits and sin come from the heart and a school venue won’t change that.
So how are you ever going to get strong and develop any character? And how are you learn how to help others? And how is your light going to shine? And how are you going to rely on Jesus to Help you? If you just put yourself in some cushy environment with no challenge? It is the challenge of life that makes it worth living.
I am thankful that my parents made it possible for me to be educated from kindergarten thru High School in Christian Schools. I was exposed to the Bible on a daily basis as it was an integral part of the curriculums in these schools. Yes, I was still exposed to sinful things by friends and television, etc. but I would not trade the Christian World View I established for the best secular education possible. I was able to do very well in college earning a Bachelors degree, so the academics were more than sufficient. We are blessed that my wife is able to Homeschool our children and they do very well academically.
Speaking from personal experience, my education at a private Christian school definitely had its cons. If the intention is to keep kids from being exposed to the world, you're not going to accomplish this with a fortress mentality and assuming your kids are not exposed to false teachers or out of control kids. Instead, I'd like to hear more strategies around immersing my kids in Christian enrichment outside of school. For example, instead of emphasizing sports, we do junior Bible Quiz, Wednesday night youth activities, etc. To suggest people have the time, energy, and resources to start a private Christian school is a bit of a stretch.
He’s absolutely right. Listen, this was not what I wanted to hear a year ago. I asked God to show me. I fought and fought that I wanted my kids to be a light in the public schools. Who am I kidding. They are way too young. A child will be like his teacher. Homeschool your kids. There is only so much time you get with them. I want to look back and know I did everything I could to shape them to love God. Knowing what they talk about at school isn’t enough. They won’t remember what to tell you. Go listen to Voddie Bachaums teaching on this called “children of Caesar.” Ask God to lead you and guide you. I know it’s not easy. I wish public school could be a place I could trust but let’s be real, Christians. It’s not.
Well coming from a homeschooling from the beginning, wife and mother. I say that I took that to heart, that the family should be the greatest influence on their children’s education and world views and life. For the people that feel that they are “ sheltered” they are not, I don’t keep all my children away from “ worldly “ children , I don’t keep them out of the libraries and parks and stores and from parties with their friends . The world is everything outside your door, and if we are not careful , sometimes it creeps into our own house through media . I have been schooled in some of the top schoolers in my county , and it still did me a huge disservice, although my journey was much different because I was sick and on the verge of death for 90% of my schooling years, I have done school at home when I was in high school, home hospital, while I was dying in the hospital in high school, and I did adult school early because I got married before I graduated high school. All that helped give me different insights on the pros and cons of “ regular “ school. I DO know some strong Godly people that I am proud to serve with that did go to public brick and mortar schools. And I know som strong people that where schooled at home and homeschooled . The difference is that we pray and pray and pray . I much rather stack the odds in my favor of having a God living dedicated unwavering bunch of children than to just send them in. Anyone who joins the army or any service would go through a period of learning and growing BEFORE being sent into a war zone, it would be crazy to not. It is the same way with me instilling God I to my children first , giving them strength or character first , that deep deep love and knowing first, then they live the rest of their lives “ in the real world” although what does that even mean? I am a Christian wife and mother and we go to church and learn about God all day long, but is that the real world ? Is the real world on the streets? I don’t spend much time on the streets , is it when we are around other people that don’t believe in God? Because we are around a lot of these people too, what is the real world really? I will do my best to raise my 4 children and the next ones coming in the ways of loving and serving God as well as their education, and all the rest will fall into line .
Jesus is the Only One Who knows what you Need. Jesus is the Only One who knows what is Right for you. Jesus is the Only One who has the Truth for you. Jesus says..Come to me. Jesus says Seek Me and My Righteousness. Why do you go to Men?
kathleen Wharton why then should we listen to you too? Jesus separated 12 ADULT men out of the world to be with Him day and night for three full years to teach them and train them and develop them and transform them and etc. etc., BEFORE sending them to the world. One day all our kids will have to face the world and they will ready for it, not by being raised by the world by been raised Christians outside the world just as the Lord did. Your critic is no more than self appointed voice on behalf of God. You’re guilty of your own deceived judgement!
Noe Pérez I am merely directing. You to Jesus Words. They are not my words. If you don’t want to Know Jesus words..fine by me. Listen to somebody else. There are plenty out There. But I will Stay with Jesus Words..Thank You.
kathleen Wharton why should anyone go to you then? You’re doing the same thing you’re criticizing others doing by listening to the preaching. Why would anyone listen to any preacher, or teacher or anyone else for that matter, or YOU?! It’s obvious you, as much as you mention Jesus don’t know a thing about the Jesus or the Bible. Timothy was raised by a christian mom and grandma and not by his greek daddy. And you’re demanding christian parents not to be cowards and turn their kids to their greek step-dad: the world?! Not only that, but the whole is the testimony of God pulling Israel outside the influence of all the surrounding nations to learn and serve and love God and only God. Now you’re telling christian parents the opposite. No one learns to love God in a public school! Read your Bible again!
Noe Pérez All I am saying..is..Read Jesus Words that are written right in the Bible. This man does not teach what Jesus Said or teach what Jesus said to Teach. He teaches men’s and his own doctrines. Jesus is my Teacher and the Best Teacher. And offered to be yours too..But If you prefer piper..fine by me. I went to public school my entire school life. I did just fine. Jesus was with me and protected me from evil..just as He protects me from the evil of men ToDay. I had good friends in school..we all helped each other. There are always good people. I have lived my entire life in the world..just as Jesus did..as I help whoever God prompts me to help. Jesus sad we are to pray in secret. Nowhere does Jesus say we are to pray publicly..in fact..He renounces the Pharisees for praying n public. I think it is you who needs to read the Bible..and maybe read the Words of God this time instead of men’s doctrines.
kathleen Wharton i see no Bible and I don’t any Bible in your words. I see and read the opposite. “And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes.” Ephesians 4:11-14 Did you read what Jesus did: He GAVE men and women as ministers to HIS church to TRAIN them in the doctrine. Those are the same people you’re telling everyone not to listen to but “only to Jesus “. Uhhh...Jesus GAVE those same men and women to the church. ?! I can quote you endless of more passages like these from the NT. You’re the perfect example of a Christian lacking discipleship. This is not biblical and surely not Jesus teachings: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you...” Matthew 28: 19-20.
So how are ever going to develop any strength of character? So how is your light ever going to shine? So how are you going to learn to rely on Jesus for your Help? So how are you ever going to learn to help others? If you put yourself in some cushy environment where there is no challenge? That is what makes life worth living..is meeting the challenge! You are being babies and cowards.
Vanessa Loy Then that child should be home schooled. It’s up to you to instill an identity in your child that gives them the freedom to discover who they are.
Vanessa Loy I went to public school and I did just fine as a seven year old. I had friends and I learned how to deal with bullies. I don’t think there is much drinking and smoking and doing drugs and porn in the seven year old playground! If you want to prepare your children for the world..might well get started young. Sending them into the world after they have been pampered and protected seems the dangerous way to me.
