Adding hitters to the M’s lineup is pointless until the M’s figure out the reason that good hitters aren’t succeeding in Seattle. It is hit or miss with bats (more miss). In case of Polanco and Garver, these are players that have numbers that are hard to explain after 2 months of adjustment to the new team. The M’s spent millions on Garver as free agent. The M’s can’t take financial risks with a limited budget by ownership. Vladimir Guerrero, Biichette, Alonso or Robert will have to go through the same period of adjustments that Polanco and Garver had to go through.

Let’s just put this out there Harry ford for half a year of alanso is an overpay already. For vlad and Robert’s I’m all for.

The Ms won't pay money to players, so a year and half of Vald at 20 million plus per year doubt it

Yep, seems like everytime the media throws out trade targets it's the same players who are always on IL or on a steep decline (we already have enough of those) they grossly have the M's over paying on each one. Harry Ford for a half year rental of anyone would be stupid, for as much as I love Cal, you have to be concerned that he is gone first chance he gets just cause he is tired of the FO/Servais and the way things ended last year.

The odds that Cal accepts any deal to extend with the Ms while being a Boras client is near 0%. I Would LOVE to keep him and I'm sure we will try but I bet he will not want to stay here regardless of what we do.
    Keep Ford because of this.

We did that a few years back when we gave up Jason Varitek and Derek Lowe to get Heathcliff Slocumb... . man looking back on that trade and what Varitek became ugh..

Yeah, you're right, one time about thirty years ago, we made some trades that didn't work out, so we should probably just avoid trying to improve the team so we can win the world series...

@@fargomonkey5133 one thing I have learned about the most recent management they talk a big game and then say " we tried " " we were in on many deals" yet nothing ever happens. Till we get rid of this ownership group and get owners that want to win more than making a huge profit we will be mediocre. As for the trade it was more of a be careful mortgaging the future ...

A few years back? Lol. Varitek has been retired for 12 years. The trade was 27 years ago. Most if not all of the players involved in these current trade talks weren't even alive.

Pete Alonso is 37, he would only at best be a one year rental.
Vlad, is in his prime now, the team could potentially offer him a deal, and he might just take it to play alongside Julio, and our stud pitchers.
Everyone knows this team's window is open now, it might be enticing to a guy we bring in as a rental like Vlad, to just extend his contract in Seattle for the duration of that open window.
I would prefer Vlad over Pete anyway, but the age has to factor in as well.
I would throw in another option that is very appealing to me. If I had my preference, I would like to see the Mariners try to get Christian Walker from Arizona, and bring back Sewald as well. Arizona has been trading partners with us recently, I think it's a fairly realistic possibility if we are willing to part with two top twenty prospects, plus two or three mid to lower level prospects and France to replace Walker and offset some salary should get it done.
A deal that got us Walker and Sewald would be spendy no doubt, but I doubt it would cost too much more than Vlad straight up, and it would help solve two glaring problems in one trade, bullpen help and a good bat.

There is NO way this rotation stays together. As soon as they all are eligible to be paid.....at least 1 but probably 2 of them will be dealt. That is just a fact.

Why not see what you can get for Cal? Ford’s talent today is above and beyond what Cal is as a ball player. Trade Harry Ford in two, three years you’ll see a better player than Cal in every aspect. Luis Robert, Pete Alonso? Alonso is a two months rental and Roberts is more of the same you already have in your lineup, except that you will see how brittle he’s about to become

Does that include the owner? I'd like to see him sell the team to someone who cares about the team instead of pure greed.
