It's great that BMW didn't include an OIL DIPSTICK in this model so that when the electronic sensor goes bad you can blow the engine up. The plethora of plastic parts in the engine is great too so that I can see it crack and break as the year go by. Awesome design.
I'm 18 and this is my second car... my first being a 330ci. I purchased the car from carmax and I would reccomend going through them because for a little extra you can get an extended warranty which covers all those expensive repairs for the next 4 years. For an 18 year old this car has plenty of power and is a good way for someone young to learn their limits. It handles very well and for the most part is a comfortable ride. Plus you get to ride in style ;). I agree with you Eddie this is one of the best cars for the money.

I'm on my 4th 3 series, had e36, e46 (favorite), e92 & now f30. One thing I learned from driving these cars is avoid the first gen turbo engine fitted with overwhelmed under engineered electronics, aka e90 series. Bmw got it right with the later models & f platform but always avoid first gen technology. E46 dodged all the common e90 headaches.
I've owned my E46 M3 for almost four years now and I feel like I want to keep it forever. Over the years I've thought about getting an E60 M5, the F30 335i, C7 A6 3.0T etc. but I just can't let go of my E46.
Kenneth B is the f30 328i a good 1st car? I think its a good daily for me since it has a good MPG, and the insurance for a 16 years old won’t be as much since it’s a 4 cylinder, the car itself is fast enough stock but I might add some mods down the rode for fun
why do people say BMW require too much maintenance? how much is too much, and which parts category/ parts of the car require the most maintenance? does it break down easily or something? the parts are high priced, correct? Does that automatically mean the parts are well equipped or is that just a way to company "shows" the BMW 328i is "luxurious" don't know much about cars, and I haven't found a helpful website. I have had a 2011 328 for over 3 1/2 years now I got it at 50K It has 137K on it now and I will tell you this it has been the most reliable car I’ve ever had I’ve only had to buy a battery and a coil pack for a spark plug, And had the oil pan gasket we done and The valve covers at 120K other than that it has started up every single time and has never left me stranded so..👍
SuperNT I didn’t have any real major problems. I may have just been lucky but my motor, transmission, and everything has been pretty solid. The windows in the back stopped going down, but that was a easy fix. It took about 2 years before it needed any kind of repairs. It’s really been more reliable than my newer 2013 Audi 😂😂😂.

I ran an '06 one of these up to 155k without any problems other than standard wear and tear replacement parts. You'll get plenty of naysayers saying how unreliable they are but that's generally because they have done no maintenance on the engine and expect it to never need it. It's also fairly expensive to maintain an E90 but worth the money in my experience. Water pump: between 120k and 140k Alternator: between 120k and 140k Starter motor: between 120k and 140k coil packs: 80k and 150k head gasket: 140k vanos: service this every 50k You want to proactively maintain these items because any of them failing will cause a check engine light and the need for a tow truck. A common cause for a check engine light is the fuel door not being closed properly (I shit you not). The good news is that apart from vanos the others on this list will give you plenty of warning they are going by rough idling and surging. The starter will take ages to crank when it's on its way out and you'll see more battery draw. One last thing, these engines have very tight tolerances and over 140k will eat up to a quart of oil every 1,000 miles.
My uncle has a 2010 BMW 335xi.. it had an overheating issue and the car would not let him go past 5-10mph. He brought it to the dealership and they could not figure out what was wrong with it. They ended up replacing the entire engine on the last day of the warranty lol.
Eddie, as a high schooler, I am fortunate enough to have a 2009 BMW 128i. Yes it is a cool, fast and nice first car, but my problem is the maintenance for the car. I spent more than half the cars worth already on maintenance for it already. Very blowed about it, wanting to trade it in soon.
time to buy these cars is right at 100k miles. my 2009 328i rwd wagon, white on saddle brown with the sport package, we got with 65k on it and it needed everything done. water pump, thermostat, suspension refresh, radiator, cooling hoses, starter, belt tensioner, oil filter housing gasket, valve cover gasket and oil pan gasket. if you know how to DIY and you pick one of these up, do it. it is a super rewarding and fun car to drive. however, if you’re going to take it to a shop to do these repairs/ preventative maintenance, be prepared to pay!
This is an excellent first car if you’re a young guy/gal WHO IS INTO CARS. If you don’t care about cars, get a Corolla. This car will cost more money because it takes premium, and the oil leaks repairs will cost a couple hundred, most expensive being the oil pan gasket. Other than the infamous water pump failures, this car is rock solid with the n52. I had mine for 4 years and outside of the aforementioned, had zero issues.

E90 3 series is by far the best one ever made~ Sure the G20 3 series may be more modern, but I still think the E90 is the best one and the best looking. @@SmokingLovelyyoh dang , that’s a really good upgrade 😅 but i found one for $5k with 123K miles awd one and im abt to b 18 would you recommend this as a good first car?
I got this car 4 days ago now :) I fucking love it. 70k miles for $11,990. I'm in California too. I noticed cars are a little cheaper in other states. 75% of the car is new too!! Dealers fixed it up
mrYaniii22 With Ontario plates, also, maybe odometer is in kilometers, then 70,000 km not so impressive. But it will do 150 in 3rd, with 3 (or 5 ??) more gears left.
I picked up a CPO 2011 with 42000 KM. This was back in Dec 2014. I've had the car for two years and, aside from a transfer case leak which was addressed under warranty, the car has been trouble free. I think that this might have been a costly repair had it not been covered under warranty. Overall, it's a very good family car that has the old BMW DNA. I also test drove a few F30s (sedan, wagon and diesel wagon) over the years and find that these are a step backward in terms of driving dynamics, especially with respect to handling and steering feel. Service on these cars is on the pricey side, but they are probably the most reliable BMW model ever made.
Nice Review! I do have a question though as I am about to start doing car reviews on my channel sometime soon. I assume you have to get a dealer's permission before recording a video of one of their cars, right?
I just bought my 2011 328i, for a very good deal, so far the car is good, it is already in good condition but i will stay on top on maintenence just for the peace of mind. Fuel economy is not bad but it isn't the best either but its totally usable. Engine runs smooth at 113k miles and the transmission has some kicks specially in the low rev range, but once it gets going after second gear it shifts great. I'll try to see what is the issue with the first to second gear kick, maybe transmission fluid can fix it
I own a 2009 BMW 328i LCI that I bought CPO in 2012 with 18,000, miles on the odometer, It has 143,500 miles and they have been trouble free, Besides tires and oil changes, and brakes no issues whatsoever. I have test driven many of the new BMW's and the steering sucks. I want to get a new car but none of the New cars i.e Audi BMW Mercedes Lexus Jaguar Acura Cadillac Infiniti, drive like my e90. In my opinion, the e90 is the best, the steering road feel is the BEST. Also as far as fuel economy, I have put Non-ethanol 93 gas in my car since day one and my average gas mileage with my lead foot is 26.7 mpg, so efficiency hasn't been an issue.
Suggestion for your reviews. You talk about engine and steering but never about ride quality. Ride quality is really important to talk about if you suggest this car as a daily driver
japanwatchconnection subframe plagued mostly the M3’s of the generation. I’ve owned my 2004 330i ZHP for almost four years now and sure when stuff breaks it’s more expensive then say a Honda but *knock on wood* no major issues so far. They’re built to last as long as you’re prepared to maintain them
Ok, now tell me how much is maintenance ? As far as I know there is some really expensive issues are connected with this car, like water pump and oil leaks.
not that anyone cares about it, but there's a lower-end 323i with a 4cyl. Sacrilege but it does exist for the E90, much like the 320i variant for current-gen.
Honestly its all about maintenance. Some people buy "adult driven" E90s that look like they have been beat on and flogged everyday right at the dealer without any diligence paid for maintenance and wonder why they have issues. That being said sometimes you get screwed and get a lemon.
The 6 cylinder E90s are really good cars, the ones with 4cylinder motors are crap... They get the same fuel economy as a 6 cylinder but are really slow and have had lots of timing chain issues.

Service on these cars is on the pricey side, but they are probably the most reliable BMW model ever made.
nice review...but in Europe for the LCI model we don't have the same steering wheel....
Wasnt LCI 2009+?
Great Review! just got one so this was a great video. keep up the hard work!
Nice Review! I do have a question though as I am about to start doing car reviews on my channel sometime soon. I assume you have to get a dealer's permission before recording a video of one of their cars, right?
Great content. Great video. Finally a car we can afford.
I'll try to see what is the issue with the first to second gear kick, maybe transmission fluid can fix it
You should review a Quattro B7 A4! You can find them for less than $8k with decently low miles
I have the 335i twin turbo & love it :)
Just picked one up today for $5k with the m sport package runs great 👍
I just bought one. I'm loving it.
How has this vehicle been so far? And major issues? Looking to get one this year
@@michaelcanas5521 I love it. Smooth and quiet, great power, great traction, very comfortable.
Hi eddie :D
Will you maybe Review
The Audi Q7.. just asking :D
Happy to see you again bro :)
just bought mine today ! looks the exact same!
I really found this helpful. Not only that I was your 9th sub. I saw your Instagram post and was like "Holy Shit"
Feels good being an early subsriber to mr eddie x
Quality videos. Keep it up!
Thanks for commenting, I have the same car, I agreed with what you said about it.
Great vid! nice looking car
I'm cross shopping 3 very different cars. The 2011 BMW 335is, the 2015 Nissan 370Z NISMO and the 2015 Ford Mustang GT. Which should I get?
Paid 2800 for mine with a misfire, changed plugs and coils, boom! Solid daily
6 years later and these are still hovering around 10k... canadian dollars that is
Eddie I have a 450hp 13' Audi S4 with the license plate "BMWKLR" review it!
*races one FBO 335*
*changes license plate*
Suggestion for your reviews. You talk about engine and steering but never about ride quality. Ride quality is really important to talk about if you suggest this car as a daily driver
in western europe, you can find early e90's for about 3.500€, and cleaner lower mileage or newer ones go from 5.000€ up
Why did this car have Canadian plates? Saw the "Ontario, yours to discover".
I'd argue the e46 330i over the e90, mainly because of its timeless style and simplistic interior. Especially in manual
japanwatchconnection subframe plagued mostly the M3’s of the generation.
The E90 was so much better than that 2.0 turbo, not only the engine but they made the steering electric and took away any feedback
not that anyone cares about it, but there's a lower-end 323i with a 4cyl.
ChevyBM nope. my 2013 gets 27.2 mpg. I drive in sport mode 90% of the time
Anyone know if one of these can last to around 140k without major issues?
What is your take on a 2011 328ix drive with 144000 miles.
Hey Eddie, I see the last car was from Ontario. Would you drive to Toronto to film a segment?
i love your videos . please can you do a review of your BMW i8 as it's my dream car and i want to know what its like to drive when i finally get it
dont you have the 330i with 272hp and no turbo in the us?
Looks great.
