On Friday, September 29, 2023, the House of Representatives voted 232-198 to reject a Republican-led continuing resolution that would have funded the government until October 31. All Democrats and 21 Republicans voted against the measure.
Here is a breakdown of the vote by party:
    Democrats: 211-0
    Republicans: 21-198
    Did not vote: 3
The vote failure means that a government shutdown is now imminent, unless Congress can pass a new funding bill by midnight on Saturday, September 30.
This is what is bothering me. When you look at the voting pattern you see the Democrats with 0 Yes votes and 211 No votes. You mean to tell me that all 211 Democratic House Members independently came to the same conclusion on how to vote for this bill. They all voted in “lock step”. When individuals vote lockstep, they prioritize party loyalty over personal beliefs or independent evaluation of the issues at hand. The voting party wins but America loses. It means that there is rigid control and lack of independent thinking and the ability to compromise.
Usually a bill makes it through the House through compromise and is forwarded to the Senate. My gut feeling tells me that the Democratic vote was a 100% political interest only vote and not a vote for America. As of now, the Democrats and Republicans are unable to figure out how to fund our government.
I suggest the American people fire both party leaders, and put in two people who know how to make the House of Representatives work as a team to solve the tough problems.
