I can't word it properly but I feel like Shu's 'disappointment' is more about how Mika's tone isn't as unique as the other two. Mika's voice is really good and I personally love his voice the most out of these three, but he doesn't stand out as much as the other members-his voice is pretty subtle (?) compared to Nito's high register and Shu's unique tone. It simply didn't meet the requirements for Shu's aesthetic.

God I love this song but whenever I hear it, I just imagine how much pain Nazuna went through and how bad it was for him, Shu, and Mika to be in such a toxic group. Luckily, Nazuna was able to move on and Shu and Mika grew, and Valkyrie now is better than ever

personally i don’t think ex valkyrie was toxic, or maybe it was but I don’t think shu manipulated nazuna in an evil way. shu is a very kind person but he struggles to express his emotions, (e.g. he helped mika with the finance issues with the orphanage secretly and even begged ibara who he disliked for him etc.) that’s y mika admires and loves him, bc he rly is very warm hearted tbh, with mika, natsume and all of his frds. However he often expresses his feelings wrong and can be verbally abusive, which he needs to fix, but I don’t think that he was manipulative, he is controlling over his work, but he didnt meant to hurt mika or nazuna and he is definitely not evil, pre sure he didn’t let nazuna sing to protect his voice, but once again he didn’t express it well. I think ex Valkyrie’s relationship now after nazuna left is expressed better in the song 砂上ノ楼閣, nazuna shu and mika were all like dolls and were trapped, however their strings are now cut and they are more free. 刻むのはじゃない, 抱えた想いの全て (it is not scars and flaws that are carved, but all of the embraced memories) I think this lyric demonstrates the warmth of their relationship well. After all, especially after watching the handout and selfie scene in the anime, i just don’t think that ex Valkyrie is bad memories, they were just immature people that didn’t know how to love eathofher properly. i totally agree! but that's exactly why i think it was "toxic" since they were still hurting each other unintentionally. shu never had any malicious intent and only wanted the best, to be able to showcase his "work" to the world but because of shu failed to properly express what he feels due to his trauma and was too focused on wanting to stay the best, it's what caused his downfall- Valkyrie's downfall. though i should probably reread the story so I can give better input....
