I really appreciate you giving him a free diagnostic. As a business owner, sometimes you need to take a loss to help someone out. Don't ever forget that you could lose it all in a heartbeat.
Am I glad that up here in Canada when an uninsured/unregistered car comes in we have what are called RepairMan plates that are issued to the shop, think a dealer plate that you can test drive a car on but to use a Repairman plate you have got to be employed by the shop that holds the plate...allows us to drive any car or light truck on the road whether it's got plates on it or not, legally.
YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME!!!!! Most shops would never sit in that car yet you not only went the extra "mile" but gave the diag on the house -crazy generous. Sure wish you were close by I would give you every penny i could of business
I totally agree with @tmacktrading22 viewer that you guys are awesome for what you do for clients at no charge to them and at your valuable time and expense . Says great things for your caring approach to business. Love your videos.
The reason we turn down cars like this to "sit in" is all that crap growing in there can make us sick. If we get sick we can't work, can't work no pay, we don't get a salary, sick days, or pto. Hell, we don't even get paid hourly to clean out a bad car that is filled to the brim with trash. The customer wouldn't want to pay us labor to clean out their dirty nasty car so why should we have to. That being said I would be perfectly ok helping this customer out but I would at least try to clean the steering wheel off etc with something and I would be wearing a mask and gloves. Just giving insight to what goes through our heads as non-hourly non-salary workers.
That poor Honda deserves a better life. If the owner gets it cleaned up and serviced, that car will take care of him and his family for several more years!
Santa Sherwood!! You guys are the BEST! Your Good Deeds will come back many fold and you are appreciated by all your viewers! MERRY CHRISTMAS and A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Ive had so many cars similar to that one I now only work on vehicles 20 years and younger. They also have to have current registration and inspection within the last 2 years in Virginia. It has saved me a lot of money and problems. God bless you sir.
I wish I could bring you guys my XJR from Nc and let yall go thru it. Mechanics with integrity, honesty and transparency is rare and I’d love to have your shop give my car your thumbs up. Tired of dealing with local JLR mechanics.

Good man. You made that customer's day. You could tell it was sitting for a long time by all of the mold inside. It would appear that a few tweaks would get that car in good shape. I will chalk it up to a lack of funds for the car's condition, but there were a few things that were not how they should have been. DIYers have to be meticulous!
Great work and awesome customer service as always! What's more concerning and quite serious, is driving around with all that mold... especially with kids. Mold is a biohazard and any reputable detailer will not touch it unless they are a mold remediator because even when it looks like it's gone, it'll come back unless it's treated correctly.

@ nah I'm in Washington state. Most have been really nice 1-2 owner cars that needed one or two small things fixed then sold. Some were basket cases that needed full builds or swaps but I bought my first one at my work at the honda dealership in 1998 when I was 16.

I live up north in Washington state but they don't salt the roads so no rust that is a big enough issue to make me move. I have a 1990 fox body and 1997 Ford f150 4x4 with no rust at all, couldn't imagine having to deal with rust like that.
I couldn't see if the battery light on the dash was on, but from my experience if there is a short circuit on one of the rectifier diodes inside the alternator, it sounds similar to what I heard with that squealing sound. Almost like a seized bearing.
Seems like 1 out of 5 cars I've been working on lately are like this little Honda, haha. Usually they have no Tag, bad gas, fuel system contaminated and animal nests in them.
