Like anything you have to keep up with it.
Kids can actually learn a lot. I just started learning the dulcimer last year and I thought I was doing pretty good until I heard the kids that started learning around the same time as me.
Lol. It’s amazing but kids have an ability to learn so much faster. That stage of life when the brain is growing and developing. The kids hadn’t even practiced as much but can still play better and pick it up so quickly.
Likewise I am doing better than the older people, even though they’ve played for years and I’ve only played on and off for a few months.
Learning when you’re young is best.
It’s really cool when a kid actually does take some time to focus on something. They really can achieve a lot.

@@drew-shourd They're not emotionless. In general, it's just not in the cultural tradition of many Asians to show overt emotion or praise. Their cultures tend to value understatement and restraint. So, overall, they aren't comfortable with standing out or making waves (be it good or bad). There are positive and negative sides to this. As to the negative aspects, it sucks in a situation such as this one. Thankfully, younger generations are more openly expressive yet still polite. As is this young and incredibly gifted and disciplined drummer girl. Obviously, she holds nothing back with HER musical brilliance! Every culture is different in some way. I would hope that you can appreciate the positives of those differences, more than unkindly judging them and their people.
