If i remember correctly. From the plain scene with Josette's brother we know that Joshua knew about her feelings for him but tried to push her away. He chose to be dense about it and maybe hoped that they got over it. Not sure if he knew or suspected Cloe's crush but her love confession after he got together with the Estelle was surprising. For everyone. Everyone knew that he loved Estelle.

well to be fair that was the original plan since estelle's and josh's roles were ment to be swapped originally. hence the gender swap play as well as many other references to this being the original goal. thankfully at the time falcom didn't sacrifice story integrity for haram shenanigans' and we got a fantastic story. now we have cold steel@@wheelotime2581
