    New and improved Pro series specification
    Pro series of F1, S1 and A1 differs from its predecessors in the following important details:
    1. The laminated VG10 steel is replaced with a laminate cobalt steel (lam. CoS) which, amongst other things, ensures a durable edge and improved edge retention.
    2. The blades are consistently thicker causing an increased torsional rigidity - they will withstand even greater external forces than before.
    3. The tapered tang is wider and thicker and thus significantly stronger.
    4. The crossguard is made of stainless steel and permanently mounted to the tang.
    5. The convex edge has been refined to improve the cutting properties.
    6. The zytel sheaths are redesigned meaning they are more durable and are better suited to the Molle attachment system.
    7. The knives are supplied with our most valued combination whetstone, the DC4. It offers both a diamond whetstone and a ceramic stone for field sharpening.
    8. The knives are packed in shock-resistant, waterproof boxes that can be used for storage of smart phones, GPS, documents, survival gear and much more.
    Understandably these knives fall into a higher price category. However, considering the unparalleled quality they are by no means over priced. A professional survival knife should be able to be relied upon in the all-weather and we really mean all weather. It should also be pleasant, safe and comfortable to handle whether it’s fine or rough work, summer heat or winter cold. We have considered everything in the design of this quite superb knife and we, therefore, offer a lifetime warranty on materials and workmanship.

    I love your reviews. Since watching your videos I started a knife collection of my own. They include: 3 fallkniven A1, S1. F1d. 3 Bark river knives, Fox river 2. Bravo 1.25 in A2 and a Gunny Hunter in cpm3v.
    Call me a fan of yours, don't want anyone to poke their eye out, so I would like you guys to use some eye protection when chopping wood.
    Stay safe and make many more videos as they are wonderful to watch. I think it's great you also respect other people videos and pay respect to them. Congrats!

    Still trying to figure out how you connected that lanyard together. I know how to do a cobra wrap but I have no idea how you interwove the wrap to make what you have there. Perhaps you could do a video on that lanyard and how to make one. that would be a very awesome thing.

    Great video! I really want to try out one of these in the near future. Also, I have heard some iffy stories about putting lanyards on knives you chop with. Some say the knife can spring back and cut your forearm if it slips out of your grip. Just something to be aware of, even though yours looked nice :)

    Great vid, I've had the A1 pro for a few years now and it's a cracking knife. Does anybody know what the score is in regards to taking the knife abroad? I live in the UK and am due to work over in Europe. I live in my van and is it going to be a problem taking with me along with all my other bushcraft/survival gear on the ferry? Thanks for any information regarding this.

    Question: I am considering an A1 or S1 but I am concerned about the size of the handle. It looks small (diameter-wise).
    Do the A1 and S1
    Have the same sized handle? Are the ergonomics the same?
    What about the Pro models? Would they have a larger diameter handle?
    Thank you!

    • @DutchBushcraftKnives
      @DutchBushcraftKnives  8 лет назад

      the Pro handles feel thicker. I have not measured them though. The A1 handle is slightly bigger than the S1. I'd recommend holding them in a shop to help you consider. It's a lot of money to risk it.

    Ziet er goed uit. Lijkt me dat het ding een goed pak slaag kan verdragen maar dat dacht ik van de A1 ook.
    Net m'n eigen A1 terug gestuurd naar FK, helaas. Tweede keer mee naar buiten en een stukkie spar doorgetikt: Pats, over 7mm de micro bevel eraan. Geen modder, geen knopen, 14 graden buiten, houten back stop... Ben benieuwd wat FK er mee gaat doen aangezien ik m'n vertrouwen in dat specifieke mes wel kwijt ben. Veel nagedacht over wat de opvolger moet worden en aangezien een Andrew Jordan toch echt buiten bereik ligt, misschien toch maar een A1 Pro proberen...

    • @DutchBushcraftKnives
      @DutchBushcraftKnives  8 лет назад

      +Jorrit Wasbeer Ik heb een hele goede ervaring met de garantie van fallkniven. Mijn vg-10 a1 heeft het altijd super gedaan. Het klinkt alsof jouw A1 pro niet helemaal goed door het hardingsproces is gekomen. Als fallkniven dat constateerd ruilen ze hem waarschijnlijk om. In mijn ervaring heeft mijn a1 in vg-10 zich altijd top gehouden, zelfs in een kleine hoek. Ik begrijp dat je vertrouwen enigsinds weg is. Ik hoop dat ze hem ruilen en je over tijd er weer vertrouwen in kan krijgen. Zou je me willen laten weten wat fallkniven heeft gedaan? ik ben wel benieuwd.

    • @wasbeer77
      @wasbeer77 8 лет назад

      +Dutch Bushcraft Knives Tuurlijk laat ik dat wel even weten, no problem! Ik hoor ook een hoop goede dingen over de garantie en coulance van FK, dus ik heb er alle vertrouwen in dat e.e.a. goed opgelost zal worden. Als er een nieuwe wordt gestuurd dan zal ik die wss wel verkopen om de upgrade naar de pro wat kleiner te maken. Moet zeggen dat de verschillende reviews en de unanieme conclusie dat die toch nog wel even een paar tandjes beter uit de verf komt me wel aanspreekt.

    • @wasbeer77

    Wonderful review. I was wondering: if I was looking for a stainless survival knife, and narrowed it down to Fallkniven Pro series, would you recommend the A1 or S1 Pro?
    The reason I ask is that I've heard from a few channels that 5" is a good size for a survival knife because it's neither too big nor too small which makes it easy to handle. Regardless I'm intrigued with the extra length for bigger batoning tasks and was wondering if you think the extra size is worth it?
    Thanks!

    • @DutchBushcraftKnives
      @DutchBushcraftKnives  7 лет назад +4

      +jonNH123 if price isn't an issue I'd recommend the s1 pro. I love the cos steel a lot.the size of the s1 is best of both worlds between the a1 and f1. I mostly use an f1 and a1 pro Combi though. The extra length of the a1 pro will make it a better batonner but you can just pick up smaller pieces of wood

    Hello DBK,
    Thank you for your great reviews!
    You like the same knives that I like, but I haven't so much money to buy them all. I want to buy on knife for all tasks. I'm a group-bushcrafter or an old boyscout leader. I want to have a knife for my heart ( that I can love) and for all times and all tasks. And after a lot of videos -I found that you like the same knives. Fallkniven and Bravo.
    I like the Bravo 1.2 for Germany or the Squad leader. ( A2, 3v or s35vn ???) Or The Fallkniven S1 or the S1 Pro.
    Can you help me???

      You prefer the axe? Me too...unless you are hiking. also the chances of you having an axe with you in a survival situation are not that high. hence he military developed heavy duty survival knives and teach their use. this knife is a large, heavy duty survival knife. I'll use my axe around the camp etc but may have to use a knife to split wet firewood in a survival situation. It's great to see a knife tested in a review to help me choose which knife I can rely on.
