Shaun should get a raise for working at the influencer booth, spotting an influencer and giving a Shaper demo that was shown on the influencers channel. He knew what he was doing.
@@shawnkirsch The video editing wasn't exceptionally flattering for you and the product, but I thought it looked like a cool product. I cringed when they cut to Doug taking the call, it felt so rude and jarring. Glad you are still a Wyrmling!
@@alastralguardian It was a .....season 2 or 3 thing?? Pre-pandemic anyway, because that made it worse. The bought the Laguna stuff for the first tabletop tiles kickstarter production.

Bourbon Moth Woodworking did a joint test and it turns out box joints are basically just as strong as dovetails. I know dovetails are sexy and a mark of craftsmanship, but if you're gluing the joint anyway, it's not actually any stronger. Turns out miter with splines was strongest (270 lbs) box joint was really good (220 lbs) and the dovetail in the middle of the overall pack tested (110 lbs). If you're going for minimum viable product, maybe break the mold of tradition and not use dovetails on the drawers. Just a thought. (And someone should go in a costume next year just to give that sausage party a little flavor.)
I can't wait to see all the episodes where all these new machines they're going to get malfunction because the manufacturers decide to give Wyrmwood the lemons of the production run.
I worked at a cabinet shop for a little bit and all i did was build drawers and face frames. They had a similar dovetail machine and damn the noise alone gave me a little heart attack everytime
As someone who sometimes works with wood at home, seeing the latest innovations is fun. You hear about rockets to the moon but until you see a robot building a box, you haven't grasped how tech changes things.
Matt, thank you for taking us on this journey with you. We saw big machines. We experienced terrible sounds. We joined you in craving Johnny Rockets. The full breadth of human experience at a trade convention, truly.
I just went to my first convention at PAX West in Seattle and was excitingly surprised when I saw the Wyrmwood booth there! But honestly... damn ngl this woodworking festival convention thing? looks way more interesting
Finally got some dice and a dice vault from you guys today at dragon con. Really wish some of the big names could have been there to meet but the ladies you had working the booth were still wonderful.
Would have been cool if our paths crossed at IWF, but understandable that they didn't considering the 1,000,000± Sq ft. Was even wined and dined by one of the exhibitors.
I remember last time I went through the Atlanta airport there was a giant sign that said, "No one calls it 'Hot-lanta.' "...I knew that sign was wrong.
I was in Logan this morning at about 5:30 today and I swear I saw Bobby coming out of Dunkin. Had to double back to check. Very glad it wasn't just my imagination haha.
Johnny Rockets took me back to being a freshman in college, barely able to afford air to breathe, but treating myself once in a while to JR in between classes.
Hey, I'm down if you want to do a flat-faced with raised accents like that panel that was made by the whirling sander for the GM screen. I'd like it better than the raised panel. (yes, I have an order in and my survey is completed.)
Need to buy/build a damn building doug. Mayhap Indiana where theyre more business friendly/cheap and centrally located. If it helps we have amish. Hell the biggest 3d printing festival is called MRRF held here in the middle of Amish country in Goshen.
I understand the convenience of the machines for certain tasks but I always thought the draw to Wyrmwood was the hands on love and care in the products, even if its just some final sanding or assembly etc. I feel like I'd rather pay more for a product that took someone 15 minutes to handsand, or for hand crafted joinery than walmart level automation. If I wanted cheap quick and dirty I'd just go to thingaverse and 3d print plastic.
Why 'wood' I go to IWF? I have PAX West this weekend, yah? The costumes and not sausage party are here, yah? Plus, we don't have the dodgy stir fry and wrong orders. So, no thank Hotlanta. I'll take my See-at-tle.
Doug, I think Portagee is considered a slur. Your grandparents might have used it to make fun of Portuguese immigrants who retained parts of their culture and community, but in modern times, most people think that's a cool and good thing. Also, Portuguese green is more of a spring green.
Hey you missed the hottest spot at the IWF. We WON for the newest most innovative tool in the world 🌎 Making cabinet makers stronger, more independent without spending all that big money. 💪 BTW your video is great!
I'm curious. Did you say "Fuck you, no seriously, fuck you" to international woodworkers, like you do to international customers and international backers of your kickstarters?
If you're tired of dealing with the increased costs associated with international shipping of heavy furniture from North America to Europe, why not start your own woodworking company and license Wyrmwood's designs?
@@terenceconnors9627 While the price is high - and clearly demonstrate Wyrmwood didn't do their homework (nothing new there) - the main issue is their *attitude* towards international customers/backers, who they have basically told to pound sand over and over again.

it looks like a pretty solid product for garage woodworkers too. Hand sanding sucks no matter how you slice it.

Did Doug really ask if that clearly reused wood was made of pizza?
Was that before or after Johnny Rockets? This is important context to know.
i went to this show a few times but it's been a bunch of years. Really enjoyed it. It's super cool to see them walking areas I know.
The enthusiasm after "Let's go to Atlanta" had the face of someone being sent to Brazil or Detroit.
I chuckled when Doug commented on the lack of costumes. That's the same conference center that Momocon is hosted in, lol
