Hi, very good explanation and very simple process. But I have a problem that maybe you can help me with. I need the last filter to be an enumlist, so I can select multiple values and not just one, is that possible?

I tried to follow your tutorial but there are certain section that I could not understand at all
    1) Why it is necessary to concatenate on "Brand Model Master" when you already have "Brand" and "Model" column?
    2) I do not understand the "Ref" on "Order Slave" and "Order Master ID"
I am truly lost and I appreciate if you take your time to explain further in depth
    Thanks!

Are you able to make it work by following the video?
The concatenate is not neccessary, in this video, the virtual col for the concatenate brand and model is a computedkey(it will auto generate if brand and model is set as key)
This video is guiding how to make the dependent drop-downs and remove those selected item from the drop down. While the Order Master & Order Slave table is a sample table that we use to demostrate how to make the things work.
      Thank you.

Brother, I'm sorry to criticize, but at least for me it's virtually impossible to follow what you're doing because we can't look into the data structure to understand what you're doing and where. I know you left it written down there, but still, just by name, it's hard to translate the idea to my project, with the different names. I think this is too advanced for you to need to zoom in every bit of detail. I think an overview of the data structure (so we can see all columns, which are ref, with are enum, which are virtual columns, ect,) would be better to visualize what you did. But thanks for posting it nonetheless and sharing your knowledge!

I am feeling sorry that if we didn't make it clear, as the data structure do covered in the video: 2:23 Database and Data Setting
Perhaps you may share more with you project seting, and we try to help.

Do you think possible to add a shop too as Dropdown? I.e. if I have two or more shop where I sell the goods

    • @AnotherTechTips
      @AnotherTechTips  Год назад

Definitely yes, like the sample app, the table column is brand & model, perhaps you may add another column as Shop.
Then set the data according to the video, to enable your app like select shop > Brand > Model

Complete time waste video. So confusing due to unnecessary screens shared for the solution of the video topic. If you are making a video, please stick to the agenda of the topic. Your topic is different and solutioning is different

Hi there, is it too bad that the video is confusing you, if you may share which part of the video is confusing, we may further assist you.
In this video, we do share, how to configure the dependant dropdown, and we also share, how to remove the selected item from the dropdown list.
If you are looking for a simpe dependant drop down setting, you may refer to the video below:

@@AnotherTechTips Hi there, thanks for understanding and taking time to reply. I found out and tested that for simple dependent dropdown, one doesn't need to do anything. Just name the columns correctly, Appsheet automatically picks up dependency from parent table. 😁

    • @AnotherTechTips

@@user-hq4mb4lr2t Wow, it is so cool, you are right, if we want a simple dependent dropdown, we may use the way that I shared in the older video.
The one that you watching, we do further describe, how to do if we don't want a same child value being selected more than a time.
      Cheers 😉

@@AnotherTechTips In this case requirement and multiple other such scenarios, I do a helper table, filter out any combination that i want and populate it. By this I can change my business logic of combination I want anytime, like dont repeat same child value / dont repeat last selected value / dont repeat first selected value / dont repeat last 2 selected value and so on.

@@spacescience6143 Thanks for the input, this is new to me, and willing to hear from you, how can it accomplish.
With a helper table, does it mean we need to always maintain the records in this helper table in order to full fill the changes of business logic?
But I believe that, there are no any solution working the best, but I believe in, every method does fit in different scenario.
Appreciated that the info you share, cheers.
