What did you mean by this? The only thing linking the 2 is the key of the main table also present in the related table. If you change it in the related table, then it would break the original link. Which changes in the related table are you thinking to change that should also change in the main table?
If you are referring to the system-generated Add button, then ylu are pretty much limited to editing the Display Text, the icon, Display mode, the behavior, and other settings. If you want to edit the actual action it does, then simply duplicate the system-generated action, then Hide the original action. On the newly created icon, you can pretty much change most settings.
