    A respectful sized fish but wait until you meet Uncle Muskie.

  • @SailorGerry
    @SailorGerry Год назад +49

    In the Federal park / nature preserve, on the southwest end of Lake St-Francis (Quebec), there are some numerous deep-water channels among the 1000 or so hectares of swamp. The muskelunge like to linger at a drop-off, to the deep water, to ambush other fish, ducklings, frogs, small mammals (muskrat, fishers), etc. At one time, the local government biologist was called out to the preserve to investigate the presence of a very large snapping turtle laying her eggs (apparently the shell alone was 2.5 feet long!). During the biologist's visit, was queried about how big a muskie could grow? Without hesitation, he said 6 feet!
    Something to think about...

      @kristers21  Год назад +3

      Oohh man, sounds like paradise to me :)), yea muskies can grow much biger than Pikes, pikes can grow to abt 1,5 m, but in rare circumstances even bigger to abt 30 kg.

      @@kristers21What's the difference between a muskie and a pike? In Sweden we have northern pike, which can grow pretty large. It's not too uncommon that people catch northern pike with a length of 1,3 (even 1,5) meters and a weight of 15 to as much as 20 kg. I think the record is like 25 kg here.

    • @kristers21
      @kristers21  Год назад +2

      Pike and muskie are both predatory freshwater fish known for their aggressive behavior and elongated bodies. One key difference lies in their scientific classification, with pike belonging to the Esox genus and muskie to the Esox genus as well, but a different species. Pike typically have a distinctive pattern of spots and stripes on a lighter background, whereas muskie often have a more mottled appearance with irregular markings. Additionally, muskie tend to grow larger and can reach substantial lengths compared to most pike species.@@mattiassvanberg8292

      @@jokervbatman5023 I'm afraid the human race has gone from permanent keeper's and protector's of the earth to temporary renters. Once the planet has had enough humanity's exit will be swift and complete. Maybe God will step in and change us by truly bringing us to our knees. Sadly though, it probably will take millions of deaths and much unnecessary suffering before we will learn. History proves that we humans are students of addiction. And we only change when we have collectively hit rock bottom again and again. I wish we could see the big picture but we don't. We think we are smart but we aren't. The entire way we think, reason, and see life must change 100%. And I don't see that happening without some very tough love from the Creator. But right now the situation is grim. Too many people, living too close to poverty, all existing under the wrong mindset of fear and hatred. I pray that one day we will all see each other and our planet with the unselfish love of Jesus Christ. Amen.
