Bastien was a member of the 7thAve Band (along with Chris Rupp and his sister, Tristin Rupp) and is still a member of OneUpDuo (with his husband, Jerome Bell-Bastien). His last name is actually pronounced Basteen. I already am impatient to hear the first official video with him (hopefully with a leading part in it). Though, I am thankful that they included a least a snippet at the end of this. It gave a good first impression of the new sound. But they have released a new video just yesterday with Austin in it, and I believe there will be at least one other video with Austin, if not two, before they release on with Bastien.
Bastien used to sub for one of the tenors when Home Free first started and also was a member of Chris Rupp's group 7th Ave. Considering this was his first time singing with the guys especially at The Grand Ol Opry which is a huge venue and a very very special place in Nashville for Country singers.He had really not much time to rehearse with guys because the transition happened so fast Austin first wasn’t supposed to leave till the fall and then that timeline was bumped up to end of July and all of a sudden it was middle of June. So Bastien did an amazing job
I'm a huge Austin fan and it's certainly an emotional time with this transition. I was around when Chris left and Chance stepped in, but that was different to this because whole I loved Chris in the band he wasn't my favourite, and Austin was the primary one that drew me to Home Free although he was far from the only reason. Having said that, I absolutely love Adam Bastien and I have since I first saw and heard him in Chris' group 7th Ave, that he started shortly after he left HF. I love his voice, his smile, his presence, his dance moves, and his personality, and I'm excited for the future. Is he Austin? Of course not. But that doesn't mean he's not right for HF, or that he's in any way bad. It will take time to adjust, and grieve, but there's also so much joy and love coming through that is bringing a sense of peace with it, if we choose to tap into it.
When Home Free competed in the Sing Off, Bastien was the tenor for the “B” group that did their gigs while the guys were in LA. He had also subbed for Matt Atwood between 2009/12 and thus had sung with Rob and Tim. He also was in Chris Rupps 7th Ave group, and with his partner in OneUpDuo (now BellBastien). They competed on 15th season of the Voice. (Pronounced basTEEN). Last name used because there are 3 Adams in the group.
Thanks for this info! I knew he had sung with Home Free before. It makes sense that he would be the tenor for the B group that was needed while they were on the Sing Off. But somehow I never thought of that.
