No excuses...this team stinks in many areas. It's not about health. It's largely about a porous defense that has given up layups and dunks because they still don't work hard enough on defense and don't impose any defensive will on anyone. It's a defensive scheme that lacks clarity and focus. To be outscored at one point 14-0 and 18-2 when Vanderbilt took control after UK started with a 14-4 lead, is just very telling at how inept we are in many phases of the game. Missing key free throws, shooting 1-9 from the arc at one point in the second half, and basically being out-executed the entire game is why you do lose, and is why you're not better than the other team. It's also about running an offense that permits droughts of an interminable nature against teams -- like Vanderbilt -- that you should absolutely dominate because of the difference in talent and athleticism. This is also about just wanting to be better and wanting to compete and having the will to win, i.e, heart. It's also about a very poor use of resources, and a very poor development of players. I honestly don't think these kids give a damn whether they get their asses handed to them or not. We have been up and down all year, indicative of a team with some uncomfortable mental reservations, and have some significant mental issues that will guarantee our early exit from the NCAAT. Many of our games this year shouldn't have been even close, yet were losses. We also have not gotten appreciably any better, and contributions off the bench are virtually nil. Calipari really deserves a failing grade for many of the coaching categories that would go into his performance report. He has underachieved for about four years and this team can be considered one of his bigger disappointments, rated fourth in the preseason poll and then getting so little out of this group that returned so much experience, talent, and who should have exhibited greater quality in terms of the intangibles like cohesiveness, leadership, and basketball IQ. Regardless of what happens in the NCAAT, this season is one more instance of extreme disappointment (going on several years of disappointing year-ending losses) and underachievement. Others win and progress, yet here we stand once again, mired in a miserable funk while the head coach makes excuses.
If this team makes it to the Elite Eight, that's a win for me after the season they've had. That would at least be a bit of a return to form. Feeling like they get past the first round this year, but after that, who knows?
You got to put things in perspective. You babble about alot things but 1 thing for sure is that we miss Wheeler if you remember correctly he changed the game at Vandy. It's definitely not Cal that lost us this game its the players and for the first time all season I saw a little fight in our guys.

Cal is a soft coach and his players are a reflection of him. There is no fire. A coach should use the phrase "we get every team's best shot" as a motivating statement to his players. He should have them thriving to take on everyone's best shot. Instead, Calipari uses it as an excuse for them to lose. But i guess he has to make some kind of excuses or else he would just have to say " I keep getting top talent year after year and they keep underperforming under my leadership".
I’m 60 yrs old I’ve been cats fan since my dad listened on radio . Never would I think I would record their games and check score on my phone because I get so aggravated watching them play . If they win I’ll watch the recording if they lose I want. Never in my life I thought I’d be like that. They said during the game that Cal did no film study for the tournament because he didn't know who they were going to play? Cal is lazy and blames on everything on the players. I agree 👍.if he started the season like he should've. We would've probably won. The Michigan state Georgia Vanderbilt at rupp and maybe the UCLA game along with Livingston. That's 4-5 losses that you take away . And would've made us look better. Instead of 10 now 11 it would've been 6 total losses . Still not great but a lot better than 10 or 11

Oscar isn't very good. He's big and strong which helps him get his rebounds but he makes poor decisions. I get nervous when he starts dribbling. And he makes bad turnovers. He is a very frustrating player to watch offensively.

He didn't play the bench. That was 1 of the issues I had with the way he coached this game. He didn't play hardly anyone. Just the starting 5 and CJ and Lance played a short time.

All teams are doing is spreading Kentucky out pulling Tshiebwe away from the basket and breaking down the defense of Kentucky with simple drives to the basket knowing our guards CAN NOT GUARD their guards. Just CANT stay in from of them. Sad part is Cal and staff WILL NOT adjust or refuse to go zone. A zone will keep Tshiebwe down low where he can rebound should the other team miss. Problem is, they're NOT missing in the paint or at the three point range. ...the other teams coaches are brilliant and they're out coaching Cal and his staff. They're teaching these kids to hold, tug, and get up onto Tshiebwe to trouble him. They're flopping and acting. THAT'S called "strategy". They can't stop Tshiebwe so they Frustrate him and bate him into fouls. Cal has to prepare him for that. Sad part is Tshiebwe doesn't complain to the refs. Stop playing tough guy and start his own form of acting. Cal and staff isn't SMART enough to teach that. Teams are constantly drawing charging fouls on Kentucky also. Cal's assistant coaches are pure GARBAGE or are they giving these notes to Cal and in his arrogant way of coaching he's ignoring their advice? I get mad at Cal just like everyone else does it’s human nature to blame the coach, but how many free throws did we miss, how many blown assignments did our players make, Cals job is to give these players the opportunity to utilize their talents and then the players do it or they don’t and in defense of Cal he said at the beginning of the season that this team really isn’t that good so he knew what a lot of us UK fans didn’t and he was right.

These last 4-5 yrs have been Vanderbilt standards and Tennessee standards or some other team that doesn't matter . Yeah will make the tournament but it won't last long.

I think if you can answer yes to any of these questions then yes it’s not the player’s fault, but I know you can’t answer yes to any of those questions so YES it is the players fault. No. When you’re Oscar’s size, you help yourself by making smart decisions with the basketball which Oscar is not capable of doing.
Oscar isn't very good. He's big and strong which helps him get his rebounds but he makes poor decisions. I get nervous when he starts dribbling. And he makes bad turnovers. He is a very frustrating player to watch offensively.

He didn't play the bench. That was 1 of the issues I had with the way he coached this game. He didn't play hardly anyone. Just the starting 5 and CJ and Lance played a short time.

...it's really sad. All teams are doing is spreading Kentucky out pulling Tshiebwe away from the basket and breaking down the defense of Kentucky with simple drives to the basket knowing our guards CAN NOT GUARD their guards. Just CANT stay in from of them. Sad part is Cal and staff WILL NOT adjust or refuse to go zone. A zone will keep Tshiebwe down low where he can rebound should the other team miss. Problem is, they're NOT missing in the paint or at the three point range.
...the other teams coaches are brilliant and they're out coaching Cal and his staff. They're teaching these kids to hold, tug, and get up onto Tshiebwe to trouble him. They're flopping and acting. THAT'S called "strategy". They can't stop Tshiebwe so they Frustrate him and bate him into fouls. Cal has to prepare him for that. Sad part is Tshiebwe doesn't complain to the refs. Stop playing tough guy and start his own form of acting. Cal and staff isn't SMART enough to teach that.
Teams are constantly drawing charging fouls on Kentucky also. Cal's assistant coaches are pure GARBAGE or are they giving these notes to Cal and in his arrogant way of coaching he's ignoring their advice?

I get mad at Cal just like everyone else does it’s human nature to blame the coach, but how many free throws did we miss, how many blown assignments did our players make, Cals job is to give these players the opportunity to utilize their talents and then the players do it or they don’t and in defense of Cal he said at the beginning of the season that this team really isn’t that good so he knew what a lot of us UK fans didn’t and he was right.

I remember the whole let's be patient. It's was after our Nov games. Then blamed Oscar didn't know the plays. It's always some excuse. I hate Calipari so much. It breaks my heart to say this but he's just not good anymore and he doesn't deserve the money he's getting paid. I've been trying to take up for Cal for yrs but I just can't anymore. These last 4-5 yrs have been Vanderbilt standards and Tennessee standards or some other team that doesn't matter . Yeah will make the tournament but it won't last long.
Fans don't blame the coach because of human nature. They blame the coach because it's the coach's fault. Even if it comes down to players just not being good enough. Who chose those players to be at UK ?? Cal chooses them, he decides who plays and for how long, he decides what plays they run, etc. Missing free throws and blowing assignments are mental mistakes. It's the coach's job to have them mentally prepared. If you want to blame the players for their mental mistakes then again i ask, who chose these mentally weak players to be at UK ??

UK lost their identity as the winningest college basketball team. They've lost that respect that made other teams scringe at the thought of playing them.
