SUPER helpful, gracias amigo. As a seasoned Mexican traveller, try to learn some Spanish, Mexicans appreciate it and will show that appreciation. It’s not that hard, get Duolingo. FYI Canadians, there’s even a BP’s in Merida so you can overpay for crap food and service, just like home!
Lol the water pressure depends on the home, the hot water is not fully accurate either. Depending on the home. The toilet paper flushing is not accurate either. 😂 Many homes you can flush the TP. All the big cities in Mexico have tons of American chains. Many restaurants have English menus, especially Progreso. Living in Mérida for 2 months does not give you the proper time to see what its really like. 😂 Otherwise not bad. 😊
I do not want to go to Mexico to feel at home😂 I love immersing myself in new cultures, as far away from expats as possible😆 I want to feel better than at home and I'm sure I would feel that in the warm hospitality of Mexico💕🌺 Thank you for these helpful tips! 👋🏽💯
😅 Your Welcome! & this is just my perspective in comparison to Barbados as I haven’t lived in any big cities before, so it feels familiar to me, but you will get that feeling you are searching for for sure. I am happy you found the tips helpful. 🤗
Zara is from Spain, H&M is from Sweden... not so American. Also, please learn Spanish, you will have a different experience while living as an expat. Being from Barbados especially, it would be such good idea to learn the language spoken by 550 million people.
That's good advice...learn the language of the country you reside.I am shocked that so many that come from Central America etc...to the USA don't speak English.
I NEVER FLUSH MY USED TAILET PAPER BECAUSE MY HOUSE IS BUILT WITH A SISTERNA, IT COLLECTS WHAT COME THROUGH THE TOILETS AND ONCE EVERY 4 YEARS I ORDER FOR A CLEANUP THAT COSTS OVER $200 DOLLARS IN FLORIDA
Thanks so much! True True. The heat wasn’t too noticeable for me since I am from the Caribbean AND I spent my time in Merida during the colder season. They say April May is when it is the hottest. I haven’t experienced that as yet.
I do know they start from young, I am not sure if that young though. Probably around 9 years old, because in Barbados we start learning Spanish from then. But note, most people aren’t going to remember what they learnt so long ago since we don’t practise after finishing school. 😅
I checked with the company I rent from and yes the price has gone, but only by almost $2 USD for a sedan. So now it’s $42 USD per day. Not much of an increase, but an increase none the less.
@@akilwalton7658 hey thanks for responding . i saw that you mentioned sedan. I was curious about renting apartments and homes. I saw some beautiful places running around 450 to 550usd. I just got nervous bc I i think its a great way to get luxury and stretch your money. Thankyou.
@@TheSkyhazFallen Oh My Gosh! I am so sorry. Somehow I read gas has gone up. 🤣 I am not aware too much of the prices, but I imagine they will begin to go up as more people flock to Merida. However, there is mention of 100 new condominiums beginning construction this year. So that should help maintain the rental prices to a reasonable amount.
Good vid. I have been living and still in Mexico (MEXICO CITY, CDMX-DOWNTOWN, BELLAS ARTES, REFORMA etc.), since March 2013. Mexico it is awesome.
Thanks! I can’t wait to actually visit Mexico City.
I moved to Merida 3 months ago and everything you said was 100% true. Great video. Short and to the point
Thanks!

I'm from Jamaica and thinking of moving to Mexico, are there many things to do in Merida?
Hi! I am going to say no, but give me an example of many things to do?
Ok we are visiting merdia in december and want to build a house there. Is it pretty strict to build your own?
From what I have heard no it isn’t. However, I advise searching for other expats who would have done the same to find a good contractor.

Private schools start at age 3. ❤
I hear that the price of renting has gone up, was that your experience?
I wasn’t aware of lower prices before November 2021. I will have to get the prices now and get back to you.
