How to Make Japanese Croquettes (Korokke) (Recipe) コロッケの作り方 (レシピ) Хобби
my Japanese mother passed away a few years ago, this is one of the recipes I never learned from her. thank you for putting me on the right path!
💫💗🌈
That’s super sweet, hope you’re doin okay and are making this in memory of your mother
I've made these a few times..I forgot how to make these.. As a teen I had the awesome privilege to live in Japan for a few years and I'm 52 and I long to go back often.. a piece of my heart is still running around through the little neighborhood streets to get my melon gum and coffee from the vending machine. My favorite food was Curry with the chicken cutlets, pickled ginger on the side. The curry isn't the same here. I found these croquettes on here and they're so delicious. I make tonkatsu ,I also loved Sobe cold noodles ,yakisoba.. the crepe stands were so Delicious 😋 I could talk for hours about my happiness there ...🥲🫠🥰.. Such wonderful people ❤️ The Japanese people are so very beautiful 😍.. oh GYOZA OFCOURSE 😆
In Scotland we make something similar called a pattie, except we batter and fry the mince and tattie mixture instead of using breadcrumbs. Smoked haddock is a good substitute for mince too
That sounds delicious! Thanks for sharing!!
I made these and they were great. I used regular potatoes, what we have here, and used ground pork because that's all I had. Your recipes never fail and I'm encouraged to try more of your recipes. Thank you for sharing.
Never thought it would be so easy with simple everyday ingredients. Thank you chef Nami!
I made this yesterday and it was soooo good! Everyone loved it. It was a bit messy but It was so crispy and yummy. Can't wait to do them again!
My grandmother was from Tokyo. Your recipe is pretty much exactly what I grew up eating at her and my grandfather's house. Thanks for the nostalgia and the reminder of how this is made. Great job.
Thank you so very much. I love watching you cook. It is always so calm and easy. So different from when I try to cook. I am lucky that I still have all of my fingers and no one has gotten "too" sick from my cooking...so far. You inspire me. Now my family is afraid. I am trying to cook more.
I loved these when I was living in Japan. Still one of my favorites dishes.
When I was visiting friends in Japan many years ago, I first tasted korokke, couldn't get enough of them. My friend Keiko made them for me, delicious.
Loved your story & the recipe Nami!! ❤
Seonkyoung 🥰🥰🥰 Thanks! I’ll make them for you any time!❤️
You make everything seem doable! Thank you for the confidence. I love korokke.
Thanks, it's just a bit time consuming. But I love this dish so I don't mind making it (while I drool and wait to eat first bite!).
Looks delicious! I can't wait to try this. And thanks for the tip to take the bits out of each fry - I noticed that it does turn brown after a while and my food tastes a bit burnt... now I know why! Thank you!!
Namiko san, you're the best, always good, clear, and very practical in your approach, and I love the result!
I add a small piece of cheese in the center. My nephews and niece love these whenever I make them,
I’m Japanese and live in Hawaii. I remember watching a Japanese drama show on tv and they had croquette for dinner all the time. My family had never heard of it until we watched that show! Thank you for the video as I have never tried it before. 😀
hawaii gang represent
Love your recipes. Have shared your website and recipes with my family and son who is now living in Japan.
Thanks for shared how to cook Korokke. I will try to cook it as all the ingredients can be found here in 🇹🇿 Tanzania 🇹🇿🇹🇿
And that for teaching us some Japanese word of the day. It is a good mix between language and cuisine to understand Japanese 🇯🇵 culture. Greetings from Kilimanjaro Tanzania 🇹🇿🇹🇿

What delicious croquettes! And I LOVED learning a new way to slice and dice onions, test the done-ness of boiled potatoes with a knife, and draining/straining each cooked croquette with a single handled tool. We are enjoying new recipes and cooking techniques!!!

Hi Mat! I'm so happy to hear that you enjoyed my Baked Korokke recipe! Thank you for your kind feedback. :)
I swear you are the best
I miss korokke. Going to make it this weekend. Thank you
I hope you enjoy this recipe!
I made this earlier tonight for dinner, HUGE HIT! They were amazing! The two differences I made, 1: Whenever salt was used to season the meat or potato's, I added equal parts Garlic powder. Second, I shaped the Korokke in 6 ounce hockey puck shapes instead of the long, oval potato shaped ones like in the video. My mother took pics to post on facebook and people are responding, 'Whats the recipe!? They Look Amazing'!! Thank you so much, I'm saving this recipe, and will recommend it to Everyone!
yum yum and more yum !!! thank you for sharing : )
