    BEARING LOCKING HUB KIT is the best way to protect your Axel's 1700$💔
    Is there is a way to do a the locking hub in a cheap way?

    • @zmotorsports62
      @zmotorsports62  3 года назад

      Yes, lockout hubs are nice but you’ll never get an ROI from them in joint rebuild or fuel economy. If you’ve got a couple thousand bucks that you don’t know what to do with then by all means go with lockout hubs.
      Thanks for watching.

    Ah Mike’s back, weekend got better. I love how much bench top space you have. Curious what type of solvent do you use in your parts washer?

    • @zmotorsports62
      @zmotorsports62  3 года назад +1

      Thank you. I try to keep my benches clear from parts as much as possible but at times I get project creep and they begin to fill.
      In my solvent tank I’ve been using Zep Dyna143 for the past 20 years or so now.
      Thanks for taking the time to watch and follow along.

      @@zmotorsports62 thanks for the response. I’ve been looking for a nice parts cleaner. I’ve looked at the snap on one but would rather save the money on the parts cleaner and put it towards a new scan tool. Like your solution.

    One question ... would a brass or delrin punch protect the metal or impregnate the surface?

    • @zmotorsports62
      @zmotorsports62  2 года назад

      Thank you John. Glad it was helpful.
      I don't think either would damage or impregnate the metal but I would be worried about getting shavings from the softer lunches moved in the joint.
      A standard steel drift shouldn't damage any of the internals as they're made of a much harder 300M material.
      Hope that is helpful and thanks for taking the time to watch.

    Thanks for the video! Would you be willing to make an extra hammer punch like you have?

    • @zmotorsports62
      @zmotorsports62  Год назад

      Maybe. I'm busy right now but maybe when things slow down and I have some time I could build another hammer.
      I appreciate you taking the time you watch. Glad it was helpful.

      @@zmotorsports62 what is the diameter of the punch end that touches the cage? Non hammer end and diameter of the handle? Thanks!

    • @zmotorsports62
      @zmotorsports62  Год назад

      I used a tapered drift punch as the business end and cut to length, 4". The small end measures .450", the hammer end is .625", the handle diameter is 1" and the handle length from center of punch end is 9".

      Terry, I noticed a very slight click on a couple of the switchbacks coming down off Black Bear at full lock and then again when we were going over California Pass just before we turned off on to Placer & Picayne. Nowhere near as severe of clicking like four years ago but I wanted to rebuild the joints before Spearfish and Moab gatherings to avoid the funny looks and embarrassment.

      She’s not sure. She thinks she heard it on California but she said she didn’t hear it on Black Bear. She thinks I’m being overly anal or overly sensitive. I’m not buying it.
