Why are these very selfish Chithues been elected by Dotod members and religious members? They are talking about independent Tibet, but China is not even ready to agree for a genuine autonomy envisioned by His Holiness the Dalai Lama. Ordinary Tibetan speaking: limitations of Umalam: 1: without His Holiness as the leader, UM is like a car with out wheels. 2: UL lacks public engagement. On the ground people who profess to be UL appears to be like someone waiting for the China train to arrive . 3: UL needs actionable points to follow to build up to some solution, which is lacking. Keeping chu and Rigchung is very hard to connect with resolution of Tibets political issue. If that’s so then China might do better than us in exile. In this respect we need some reality check. Let’s start be truthful to ourselves. 4: Finally, has UL convinced young Tibetans that it’s impossible to regain Tibet in the “Now and in the Future “ ??? 5: we must clarify “ is Tibet issue a religious issue or a political issue “ 6: In my judgment UL will wipe out the memory of Tibet…judging by the way things are unfolding on the ground among common Tibetan. 7: A person becomes a UL super man instantly when it becomes a Debate…other wise they merge in the grey background. No emotions..just looking at things as observed on the ground
The world was too scared to back up Tibet and crush China when it was a mangled starving junk heap from the Kuomintang-Maoist civil war, and the consequent war in Korea and Vietnam with proxy American forces. Now all of the 200 odd nations in this world accept Chinese suzerainty over Tibet now. India, Europe and America have only agreed to support Tibetan autonomy, thus, Dalai Lama was compelled to sign the Strasbourg declaration for autonomy. Yes, if you nitpick then there are limitations to any policy but what matters is its holistic advantage. But all of your points are just too vague and fail to pinpoint any serious inherent failing in Umeylam. Leadership issues, public connect, long term implication are all issues that plaque any social struggle but what matters is that the policy is at least actionable unlike Rangzen which is a total pipe dream. The only valid although disputable point you make is on what whether Tibet under China would only be a culturally autonomous sphere. Maybe you’re unaware but what autonomy seeks is something like a protectorate status where all of our internal matters are held by Tibetans while Beijing oversees defence and international relations. A good example is Russia where there are about a dozen republics in federation.
Middle way approach is the most realistic and practical way to resolve Tibet issue with China, if you want a complete Independence (Rangzen) then peaceful approach isn't the way to do so that's copying Middle way approach method. For a complete Independence, violence is the way like freedom fighter Bhagat Singh & Subhash Candra Bose fought for their country. No country in the world has gained its freedom without bleeding, right now Rangzen people want to ride both boats and secure their own lives by choosing peaceful methods. For complete Independence you have to consider the other party as your enemy and Rangzen supporters needs to start training on Guerilla warfare and so on rather than organizing peaceful march & candle light vigil. If Rangzen people keeps screaming we want Freedom through peaceful means then it's like choosing Non-Maths in Commerce Stream after 10th class. P.S. Jamyang Norbu la one of the founding members of TYC left the organization due to TYC shifting its gear to peaceful mode and copying the way of Middle way approach. In Jamyang la's talk he has shared his interest in learning to fly an aircraft and attacking on Chinese cities eventually, though I don't support violent method but if one calls themselves a Rangzen supporter, violent method is the way for a complete independence. Otherwise don't call yourself a Rangzen supporter, all you can see in the West what Sft young volunteers does, they sell concert tickets, collect donations, give their annual membership fee and organize more and more concerts, that's it, it's a loop cycle of earning more and more money. Hence, Middle Way Approach through peaceful means in the best way.

The world was too scared to back up Tibet and crush China when it was a mangled starving junk heap from the Kuomintang-Maoist civil war, and the consequent war in Korea and Vietnam with proxy American forces. Now all of the 200 odd nations in this world accept Chinese suzerainty over Tibet now. India, Europe and America have only agreed to support Tibetan autonomy, thus, Dalai Lama was compelled to sign the Strasbourg declaration for autonomy.
Yes, if you nitpick then there are limitations to any policy but what matters is its holistic advantage. But all of your points are just too vague and fail to pinpoint any serious inherent failing in Umeylam. Leadership issues, public connect, long term implication are all issues that plaque any social struggle but what matters is that the policy is at least actionable unlike Rangzen which is a total pipe dream. The only valid although disputable point you make is on what whether Tibet under China would only be a culturally autonomous sphere. Maybe you’re unaware but what autonomy seeks is something like a protectorate status where all of our internal matters are held by Tibetans while Beijing oversees defence and international relations. A good example is Russia where there are about a dozen republics in federation.

Middle way approach is the most realistic and practical way to resolve Tibet issue with China, if you want a complete Independence (Rangzen) then peaceful approach isn't the way to do so that's copying Middle way approach method. For a complete Independence, violence is the way like freedom fighter Bhagat Singh & Subhash Candra Bose fought for their country. No country in the world has gained its freedom without bleeding, right now Rangzen people want to ride both boats and secure their own lives by choosing peaceful methods.
For complete Independence you have to consider the other party as your enemy and Rangzen supporters needs to start training on Guerilla warfare and so on rather than organizing peaceful march & candle light vigil. If Rangzen people keeps screaming we want Freedom through peaceful means then it's like choosing Non-Maths in Commerce Stream after 10th class.
P.S. Jamyang Norbu la one of the founding members of TYC left the organization due to TYC shifting its gear to peaceful mode and copying the way of Middle way approach. In Jamyang la's talk he has shared his interest in learning to fly an aircraft and attacking on Chinese cities eventually, though I don't support violent method but if one calls themselves a Rangzen supporter, violent method is the way for a complete independence. Otherwise don't call yourself a Rangzen supporter, all you can see in the West what Sft young volunteers does, they sell concert tickets, collect donations, give their annual membership fee and organize more and more concerts, that's it, it's a loop cycle of earning more and more money.
Hence, Middle Way Approach through peaceful means in the best way.
