This upma is authentic South indian style. I'm from Bangalore have grown up eating upma and have been cooking almost weekly ones ot twice from last 10yrs. Only extra ingredient is freshly grated coconut which is added to almost every karanataka food. Also make a lot of variety upma or upiitu

Every time i feel to cook something new..... The only channel I follow is # YFL... Even though for a small thing like upma... I prefer for ur recipes...
If you do it in a kadai, you will get thick roasted golden coloured layer of upma at the bottom. Removing it by scraping gets us a broken roti kind of texture. That will be very tasty. We don't get it in non-stick pans such as this one. Foodies must try it.

In marathi household, we add a pinch of turmeric to it.. So basically the upma turns yellow.. Doesn't really change the taste though, almost same taste, just different presentation..💕
