I just received my new 2024 Epiphone Les Paul Custom Inspired by Gibson also in Alpine White today. It came with a hard shell case with the Epiphone+Gibson Custom commemorative logo. Seeing the guitar for the first time, brought a big smile on my face. This guitar looks real. Feels real. And plays real. Now that I’m 62, I like the weight of this one. I am super happy. Although I already have a 2012 Korean-made Epiphone Black Beauty, as I suspected, I am still going to get the Ebony version. Life is good.
I like it. It’s comfortable for me. Not a baseball bat. The frets might need some filling to some, but I have no complaints. The Ebony fretboard is silky smooth. The gloss finish might be ‘sticky’ to some. But I like it. I’m used to it. Thanks.
I just bought one from Sweetwater, en route now. I had a couple of Epiphones years ago but eventually was able move into the Gibson market. I always said if they would make the Epi LP Custom like the Gibson (headstock, fretboard, pickups) I would grab one. I think it is priced just right. Considering most mid-level guitars these days are priced between $999-$1,499 it makes sense to grab this one because of the case, pickups, and materials. Cheaper than a new EC-1000 without a case and it has the LP mojo.
I am swapping my 2023 (the $799 one from sweetwater) I bought a couple months ago for this one. Also waiting for it to ship. I was watching those guitars on their webpage, I'm guessing you're the guy who bought the 9lb 4oz one? Lol.
Super good review, 100% honest. I'm an Epi fan for sure and this one along with the 59 355 I b Gibson Custom Shop look amazing. It bothers the heck outta me that the neck pickup was loose like that. These are no longer "cheap" I have no probelm paying up for a quality import, but for heavens sake where's the dang QC? Thanks man, I seriously love the down and dirty with complete transparency. Good on ya. Sub'd up
I was mostly interested in seeing the headstock to see if it was identical to the Gibson one... Unfortunately, you only showed it briefly and your tuner is covering the book match dip at the top. Don't know if it has that. Just sayin... Still 👍.
@eldoradoguitars6456 Does this guitar have high output pickups? Also, how well would this guitar sound while it's plugged into, a Line 6 Spider V60 amp while the amp is on the highest insane setting? Perhaps, if you were to plug this guitar into the new Line 6 Spider Catalyst CX amplifier. I wonder if Les paul guitars can allow me to play on heavy high gain channels on my Line 6 Spider V60 amp. Creating that super fast down-picking technique on this guitar while palm muting. just wanting to know if this guitar has enough high gain pickups, that will aloow me to play heavy metal stuff, like Metallica, Sepultura, and modern bands like Asking Alexandria, Bad Omens, and Wage War.
I bought the black version 2 days ago. Looks alone, it was dream guitar. Black, gold color picks ups, etc. Took it back next morning and got a schecter c-1 platinum. Just couldn't jell the les paul.
Real Gibson LPC's from the Custom Shop have Nashville bridges. Only the reissue customs have ABR-1's. So this is just in line with that. But I get what you're saying.
@@eldoradoguitars6456 it wasn’t specifically abr1 or Nashville I should’ve been more precise, I was talking about the slotted posts as opposed to the actual bridge,
I'm sit'n on a "The Berserker" AJ custom art version with the Kalamazoo headstock. It's got EMG's ZW 81/85 set. Also snagged one of the Gibson headstock ones and have both the Custombuckers in it. Gotoh keystone tuners look a 1000 times better on them both. When I set them side by side I often have to fight off a semi. Schwing!!!
600 bucks???? That was 5 years ago. LOL, sorry man, Epi is on a mission and has been raising prices like crazy on the higher end stuff. Other than that I agree for the most part. Cheers...PS, the guitar he reviewed here has a street price of $1299 fwiw.
You do understand this comes with CustomBuckers that are only available through Gibson Custom Shop right? And they cost roughly 500$ or so. Plus case, mother of pearl inlays etc?
@@nickdedmorNot Custombuckers my friend. But 490R for the neck and 498T at the bridge. But, you’re right, real MOP inlays. It’s beautiful. I have mine in Alpine White.
My only gripe and it’s not really a gripe is what you pointed out about the headstock binding meeting the fretboard binding by the nut. Wish they sandwiched the nut more between he headstock and fretboard like on the Gibson’s so it beefs up that joint where the headstock bends back. Also allows for the slightly steeper headstock angle like on the Gibson’s.
And then they would charge as much as the Gibson and you would have a gripe about that. People just appreciate what an amazing instrument you can buy nowadays for that amount of money. Jeez

How do you rate the playability on the ebony neck on this new version?

I just got this last week. Surprisingly resonant and sustainy. With lots of clarity but still fat warm tone.
I bought the Epiphone Custom 1979 AJ and really like it... I could see getting one of these when they start coming up in the used market
I have two 2022 Epiphone customs. A Wino and a Silverburst. Both are great. Same issue with the binding where the headstock connects.
Must be an Epiphone construction method

I want one really bad. Likely will wait to snag a used one in decent shape and for a good price.
All we broke people can do😔

@musicequalslife No doubt, but come on man, for this kind of money wouldn't you honestly expect a bit more QC before they ship it?
I just ordered the ebony version. Picked it up for £1089.00... A great price

From coda music
How would you rate it along side the gibson les pauls that you have played?
Still waiting the full review?

I’ll show some close ups in the full review video

Yes, it has the 498T in the bridge which I believe is 16k output
@@eldoradoguitars6456 WHOA...that's HOT. I prefer the lower output stuff for my Bluesy riffage, but hey, whatever floats your boat.
So these are starting where price wise $1500-ish?
$1299. Ebony board

I’m so disappointed it is the only one still getting the metric bridge and not an Abr 1 like the other models.

Easy fix.. Just put a goto on it...
This has me worried about the adam jones review. I have one with the old headstock...
What specifically are you worried about?

This has the same pickups and electronics as the $5000 Gibson customshop version fyi.
