      @jaminkona2358 it's not as bad as you think bro, I live in SA, they have a huge black middle class that live comfortably and they control certain industries in the SA economy like the billion rands taxi industry that has produced so many dollar millionares in SA. Their poor are not poor in the sense of african poverty because they receive social assistance from their government. The shacks are normally built for foreign immigrants, but its true some South Africans also live there,

    The city of Johannesburg is so large, and old. JHB CBD doesn’t look like it’s 100 years old, but i don't think, it is on the brink of collapse. Yes, we do have a lot of townships and informal settlements, but that will never change the fact that this will remain the largest city in Africa in terms of development and production. Every big company is here, every expert is here, and new technologies are here. It is a dream city for everyone. I’m from Limpopo, and I came here for the opportunities. My relatives are here, and some are living their best lives, as are my friends. this the home Africa and if people think it's collapsing them Africa is collapsing too. thank you for this 46 minutes video, that i hope will give people a clear picture about JHB.

    • @NerdNovaTech
      @NerdNovaTech 28 дней назад +1

      @khwathisomulondo589 While Johannesburg has no doubt played a key role as one of the major cities in Africa, it is important to note that other cities like Nairobi are growing rapidly in terms of development, innovation, and global recognition. Nairobi is now a hub for tech startups, major multinational companies, and international organizations it's even been dubbed the 'Silicon Savannah.'
      The 'lens' that Johannesburg will 'always remain the largest city in Africa in terms of development and production' is out of place in light of the vibrancy currently sweeping the continent. Cities like Lagos, Nairobi, and Kigali are on the move and prove that the potential of Africa is not pegged to one city.
      Africa is moving, and its cities are. This is the success story about all of them, not about one city's heritage.

    Wow, I am so impressed with your content sir. You took time to go into Hillbrow and many of the places where tourists would otherwise never visit. Seems you followed the advise from the guy in your Cape Town video to not only visit the touristic hotspots but to also go local. The Congolese guide at Ponte was super impressive and the homeless guy at 29:25 sounds pretty educated. Seems life just wasn't fair or maybe he made some poor choices. I am Cameroonian and did my BA and MA at Wits University and because of my studies, I never got to experience many of the places you showed partly due to my workload and the fact that COVID hit in 2020 when I started my MA and we were stuck indoors for so long in Jo'burg. I now work in Madagascar but will certainly visit SA soon again. A very good video. I can see you tried to give a balanced view but I feel you tried too hard to emphasize the good side. As a Joburgers born and bred, and still living here, we see a different side, a city in decline, with failing infrastructure and uncaring municipalities unwilling to repair, maintain or improve the state of the city.
      Yes, there are wonderful parts, but life in Joburg is definitely not all parks, mansions and expensive shopping areas. There was too much importance placed on the super wealthy areas.
      Please don't leave out places like Alexandra. It's oart of the fabric too. Also please include ordinary suburbs where people struggle to get throughnday by day. And also please take into account the poverty that forces many to live in shacks in informal settlements, and dont forget the homeless living on the streets, and iften also in those green parks

    Another great video, Slava! I've been to South Africa myself (in 2004, was there for one year), and I have to admit that it has changed a lot. Hillboro was a place with a questionable reputation back then, but I do see big improvements in the city. When I was there, I could get along better with the black population, because the whites were still quite rough and racist in their way of dealing with the blacks. I remember that I regularly took the train from Durban to Umkomaas. Those trains were only used by the blacks and the whites could not understand that I, as a white foreigner, took the "dangerous" train. I never had anything for the black population there. I had the feeling that I was better with them, because of my attitude towards them. Mind you, there were a lot more positive whites back then, but still in the minority.
