Honestly, a lot of people agree with you. However, it is very much set up for Alaska to win. If All Stars 1 was Logo's public apology to Chad Michaels for losing, All Stars 2 is Logo's public apology to Alaska for losing.
I'm late, but my problem with this season and a lot of recap shows is that they give people that have great personalities a pass, but judge people they don't like harsher. The challenge was two looks in one. Alaska and Alyssa did not have two looks. Period. This recap show kept saying the word "reveal". That wasn't the challenge. Violet had two looks, that was the challenge. And for two of those judges to tell Alyssa, you basically did crappy on your look and the challenge but I don't care because you are Alyssa is bullshit and that's what was Phi Phi was saying. If she did that poorly or anyone else, they would have got read for it. Detox agreed by shaking her head and I believe everyone else agreed, she was just brave enough to say it. I don't like Phi Phi and I LOOOVE Alyssa, but I'm going to call a spade a spade. She sucked in the challenge and her runway was not successful as it was not two looks and they gave her a pass, with the exception of Michelle. I feel like Toddrick and that other guy are super fans of the show and are fans of the girls and can't take themselves out of the fandom whereas Michelle has worked with them for so long, that she is able to do that.
Baby girl, I'm really late but just wanted to say that I completely agree with you. Certain people do get away with a lot more than others, but on an episode of the beat down even Willam, in response to someone having said something like this (it may have even been in response to something PhiPhi said but I'm not sure) said that "sometimes reality shows about drag just cast people who are good at reality TV that do drag" meaning that certain queens are there more because of their personalities or for a storyline, rather than because they are an amazing queen with a shot at going all the way. It's sad because I wish it were all based on talent and performance, from casting through to who wins, but the truth is that it is reality TV first, and a talent competition second, and that making good TV and ratings are the true first priority.

Phi Phi: *gets critiqued for her outfits looking basic* "Alyssa's look was sloppy!" Alyssa: *wears at least 20 pounds of expensive cameras on a single dress for the whole night*
It was the first episode, they did whatever felt natural, they didn't know to do the one on ones, Roxxxy tried it and the producers liked it, so they did it from then on. It was unspoken agreement, the girls decided to try it and stuck with it, even Detox called Phi Phi out for not doing one on ones in EP. 4. Alyssa also never agreed to do what Phi Phi wanted to do with the critiques, so by Phi Phi's own definition Phi Phi "switched it up." Phi Phi is very talented, but she needs to own up to the game she played on the show. Every queen is calling her out for it, it's very apparent what she did, and she needs to just own it.

he's a good singer and he does like half of his videos in drag which i guess was the producer's justification for including him. he actually did a video with laganja and rupaul and some others in it, but i dont think he does his own hair and makeup so for him to be judging the queens is weird.

Phi Phi isn't a bad person, but her mistake is being so opinionated and talking even when no one asks her opinion and gives the producers material to create a villain. I mean she made it to the finals before, she should know better. There are two kind of games in the show: one is the competition and the other one is the character portrayal, how are they shown to the audience. phi phi played the last one wrong
I think a big part of it too is that they're under so much pressure. On top of the seclusion and mental duress that Drag Race causes, it's all stars 2 so the stakes are higher than ever. It doesn't matter what strategy they enter with because ultimately the producers want to break them down and stress them out to get the best reaction. Just like season 4, I think Phi is in 'competition mode' and unfortunately it's not her sweetest side.
I think my only real big disagreement with your opinions on the runway this episode is that Ru said that the category was 2 looks in 1. For me, Phi Phi, Roxxxy, Detox and Katya had at least 2 seperate looks that were different and looked good. Alaska and Alyssa despite having great reveal looks didn't really have a first look at all (especially Alaska). That really was my main problem, I think Alyssa deservedly went home but Detox should have been in the top (great looks, great performance) whereas Alaska should have been safe (great performance, 1 fantastic look). I feel like I may get ripped to shreds by having this opinion though!
+Pmr It's not really about matching, more about two separate yet individual looks. Violet's were both fantastic looks with the reveal between them being the cherry on top. All of them had a first and second look (Detox had a third haha). Alyssa's first look wasn't that good at all although the reveal helped, same with Alaska except her first look was literally black bin bags all over her. If it was her All Stars entrance look then fine but it wasn't, it looked a mess, thank god she had Lil' Poundcake under there otherwise she could have been in trouble. But then again she's going to win anyway so she could do whatever she wanted!
I agree about the looks, but I still get why Alaska made top two. She destroyed the acting challenge, and as far as picking tops & bottoms go, runway pales in comparison to the emphasis placed on the challenge itself (most of the time, anyway.)

She may not have had a backup "future of drag" outfit, they can only bring so many suitcases and they already have to bring outfits for more categories than actually wind up being used, so it might not be feasible to bring backups for any of the categories

fun fact: Bette Davis actually insisted on doing her own makeup in What Ever Happened to Baby Jane, because she wanted to do a Vaudevillian-ish makeup to emphasize the character's "stuck in the past" mentality. Edit: also another fun fact: Alyssa's and Alaska's storyline this episode mirrors what happened with Bette and Joan after they filmed the movie. Bette was praised for her performance, but Joan was overlooked as her character wasn't as eccentric, it all culminated with Bette receiving an Oscar nomination and Joan getting snubbed; this was especially hurtful for Joan, as she fought to get the film produced and was the one who brought Bette on board (a little like how Alyssa brought Alaska as her partner as well); but the twist was that Joan offered to receive the oscar for the other nominees who weren't attending the ceremony. Bette lost to Anne Banncroft for The Miracle Worker (in an excellent performance by Anne btw), and watched as Joan received the Oscar for her.

The producers are sticking their hands into the competition way too much this season. It is so obvious that they are trying to control the whole "the queens send each other home" twist. 1. (First week) Adore being bullied and in the bottom 2. (Second week) Putting Rujubee as the guest judges in snatch game when Tatiana was there 3. (Second week) Phiphi being in the top 3 over Alyssa for the snatch game 4. (Third week) Giving Katya princess Diana and giving it to her last minute 5. (Fourth week) Putting Katya in the bottom three after she was the funniest part of the scene in the acting challenge 6. (Fourth week) Switching the bottom 3 to bottom 2 third week then back to bottom 3 fourth week.
I would be mad at Phiphi if i didn't completely agree with her. I though her and Michelle right. I just don't think its fair that Alyssa can get away with unintentionally bad acting and a bad transition only to get praise. I feel like her fans for the most part do the same with her.
I KIIIND of agree, but here is the deal, alyssa is enjoyable in her messy ways, I would still go see her messy ass outfits, the bitch has start quality, and this is coming from someone that didn't really like her during season 4, she has really grown on me.
The thing is that Alyssa's personality, star power, and messiness all contribute to her "getting away" with things other queens wouldn't get away with. Phi phi is mad that she would get read for wearing the same outfit Alyssa had, but what Phi phi doesn't get is that Alyssa can pull it off and she can't. Was Alyssa's reveal not that dramatic? Sure, but the end result was something fabulous, creative, and different from anything we've seen on drag race that only Alyssa could pull off.

But I didn't think Katya should have been in the bottom, should have been Roxxy and Alyssa.
My conspiracy theory : Katya had to be put in the bottom, so when Alaska wins (which they're obviously setting up for her win[which I'm not bothered by]) her strongest competitor (Katya) will look low in stats. Just a theory tho.

What I don't get is why is Phi Phi saying such bitter shit if she was so concerned about her appearance in editing. If I was her coming back and I wanted to prove to the world I had changed I would never say anything critical and just try to be as nice to everyone as I could be and not give editors any fuel to the fire. I didn't dislike Phi Phi so much in her season but now I can barely stand her and just want to see her go home.

+ MovieBitches the only thing I've come up with for why Katya was in the bottom 3 or why there was 3 was that they picked the person who did the "worst" out of each pair...or because some of the judges may not have like Katya's runway...which in my opinion it was more on the bottom of the spectrum compared to Roxxxy's Phi Phi's or Alaska's runway....and then there is the theory that some judges could have felt Katya's runway was slightly offensive with the Sharon Tate reference.
i was thinking...if for the movies they were told what outfits to prepare ahead of time does that mean they paired them before hand? also does that mean they knew who would go home to prepare the girls who stayed? because the script was even written for phi phi.
***** i mean they are told before they get on the show what certain challenges will be. like they have a list and it says "there will be a transformation challenge" so if they were told what characters they were gonna play before hand so that they could plan their outfits then that means that the groups were pre chosen by the creators and they didn't actually pick each other.

And in terms of the use of big Frieda's cameo it wasn't over better in Alaska and Alyssa's skit..when Alaska yelled at her and said I only work solo I died laughing...but my favorite funny moment is a clip of Alaska in the work room during their practicing before they shoot she throws her arms up in that weird nighty and gives that evil Baby Jane laugh too funny...and a close second is Riga-morris...Alyssa is the only one so far with memorable and funny sound bites or catchphrases...she's killing it! BEASSSST

I was trying to figure out what they're going to do. Alaska sent home 2 queens; it seems unfair for her to lip sync against both Alyssa and Tati, so I don't think that's going to happen. Then I remembered that Adore should have been here so I'm thinking that they were going to wait until 5 queens were eliminated to have 5 vs 5, but now it's gonna be a 4 vs 5 episode next week. I'm not sure how they will fit it in with the queens coming back, but I'm excited to see what happens!
Btw, Rigor Mortis the movie is a good horror movie. The judging is still biased, from both the judges and the lipsync winner. I rewatch and rewatch the episode and still don't see anything bottom worthy in Alyssa's look. I cringed when Michelle is kissing Alaska's and coming for Alyssa's looks. They, esp Michelle could have read Alaska's first "i-just-wrap-myself-in-trashbag" look, but she/ they didn't, so. I see favoritism again there. Alaska sent home the wrong queen. She saved Roxxxy again, because that's her friend. That fake tears after she announced who she picked is absolutely "she ordered those tears from Chiina", Sharon Needles" moment. But, fair elimination or not, that's her prerogative as the lipsync winner. In my opinion, she made the wrong choice, in theirs, (the little cahoots on who they think should go home) it's fair. Phiphi makes a good TV. I am glad she stays the same and she still blames editing as if everything that came out of her mouth is computer-generated caboodle.
Phi Phi said on twitter she wont be going to RPDR reunion. She says they are editing her incorrectly and she is done with the show. I really dont like Phi Phi. SORRY FOR RANT: I definitely agree with Avaryl that competition could be what brings out a nasty side of Phi Phi (she did say she has a naturally bitchy side which I respect) and I also agree that she IS saying all these things and giving the editors loads of ammo. BUT I also think they editors are focusing on her bits way more than what could be the other girls also agreeing or chiming in on these scenes because they are set in making Phi Phi the villan. I would put money down that either the producers start her off knowing she'll speak her mind and/or we don't see the other queens speaking their mind about the situation all we see is Phi Phi's opinions. Either way, Miss Thang did say all those words and she has a tone problem (cue Untucked scene "your tone seems really pointed right now") and if she wanted to COMPLETELY avoid all the drama she should have shut her mouth and been more reserved or fake when talking shit about the fan favourites. She knows people love Katya, she knows people love Alyssa... keep your negative reads out of your mouth. Unfortunately she has to do that to get us to like her more because all we know her as is being suuuuper cunty so she doesnt have the luxury of being that real when it comes to criticizing on TV.
They cast all of the queens with predictable personas. Obviously people like Alaska, Katya, Adore, and Alyssa are supposed to be the heroes. Detox, Tati, Ginger, and Coco are supposed to be the underdogs. Roxxxy and Phi Phi are supposed to be the villains. But a lot of these queens (mostly Detox and Roxxxy) had the common sense to try and break out of these roles, unlike like Phi Phi who slipped right back into that Villain role, just like season 4 all over again.
Though I wanted Roxxy to go home....I knew she wasn't as soon as Alaska asked to wear her dress from the Shequel. I was like ohhhh hell...here we go again with the semi Rolaskatox situation again.

I am not rooting for Phi Phi by a long shot but a) she did deserve to win: she had two looks in one and she did a great job in her skit. b) she has opinions that are not nice or popular. She probably is not the only one but they are editing her as if she is and if producers ask her certain questions, she answers them. Queens through mild to severe shade all the time on RPDR. Everyone (myself included) loves Raven but she was mean. I will admit I don't like PhiPhi because she's killjoy but people are blowing her shadiness out of proportion.
It should have been Roxxxy and Alyssa in the bottom 100%. There was like nothing between Katya and Detox, they both did well in the task and Katya had a slightly better runway than Detox in my opinion. Bottom 3 was absolute bullshit this week.
The consistency on this episode was very off as well. Out of the three sketches that were produced, only one of them (Katya and Detox) was the best written overall. Both Velma and Wheezy were equals in the sense of lines and overall characterization. If you look at the sketches that team Phi Phi-Roxxxy, and team Alaska-Alyssa did, the writing was really uneven. Roxxxy played Little Versace, the ingénue character; as far as stock characters go, ingénue are always boring compared to others. In retrospect, if you look at most teen films that you watched growing up, the ingénue protagonists of said films always kind of less three dimensional and interesting than those of others around them. That scene was much more about Big Versace being a stage mother than Little Versace at all.Even a film as Iconic as ”Whatever Ever Happened to Baby Jane” BOTH Blanche and Jane had equal development. From the rehearsals Alaska had the much meatier role and Alyssa had to be weak and subdued ”Bland”. Even Big Freedia seemed to have more of a presence on film than Alyssa did.Not to mention the ”directing“ for the challenge really wasn’t at all helpful. Katya was penalized for not being great the first few takes? Who cares?! That wasn’t apparent from the finished product, I don’t many actors who do great in all of their first takes of what they have filmed! Also not judging them as duos made no sense to me either. Really Katya and Detox deserved to the win the challenge this episode, NOT Alaska and Phi Phi. Also Alaska’s lip synch performance….WHY was she wearing boots?! She should have just worn that pink dress that Roxxxy lent her and not her Lil Poundcake under it, just looked sloppy. Why isn’t that Alaska can win a lip synch wearing boots and anyone else who takes off their shoes deserves to be shot out of a cannon?!People were saying that Chad got the soft touch so he could the first season of All Stars, I think the same thing is happening with Alaska.
EXACTLU! I think that they have basically set it up on every challenge to get rid of Alaska's competition and just keep around Phi Phi and Roxxy because no one wants to see them win! If I'm right, then they won't get rid of Phi Phi and Roxxy until it is just the two of them (or possibly one of them and a return queen) and the 3 queens they have already decided to be "top 3". Don't get me wrong, I have said from the begining that Alaska should win, but if I were Alaska I would want to win honestly....but that's just me... Guess we will see how it goes, but I have a sinking feeling that I'm right. ALSO, all this crap about sticking to this alleged "agreement"---what the hell is all that about! Ru Paul said she wanted the winner of each competition to choose who goes home! It deletes the purpose of the winner just goes with what the judges say! I mean, what's the point? Might as well just have the judges do it! :(
Thinking about this episode's outcome is really weird, because you have to consider, what if they had been judged in pairs like many other partner challenges (and the comedy challenge in the following episode)? If that had happened instead, surely Katya and Detox would have won because they were the strongest together, and Roxxxy and Phi Phi would have likely been in the bottom. Also, Phi Phi herself. She won, but I wouldn't say that she was any better than Detox or Katya; she had a weaker partner to outshine, like Alaska did. I suppose that when the performance quality of the two queens is as wide-ranged as it was in the chase of Phi Phi and Roxxxy/Alaska and Alyssa, you have to judge them individually. But still, it makes Katya's bottom three placement seem even more unjustified and unnecessary.
quick question, I've watched every season of drag race including season 4, I don't recall Phi Phi having a speech impediment during that season. Does anyone else notice she has like a kind of strange almost lisp now?
I don't like Phi Phi as she is on these shows. I don't know her other than what I've seen on here. I can say, however, that I am a perfectly nice, normal, sane man except when I am competing whether it be on the tennis court or a game of bingo (which is such a random thing to compare, yet I find the need to make it a personal competition). Phi Phi's problem, like me and bingo, is that she takes EVERYTHING so personally--at least it seems.

Leaked from Alaskas then boyfriend apparently who so far has been correct in emilination order (althougth i don't remember fully as it was up for only a few hours), they're doing a reunion/crowning like they do with normal seasons which they didn't do with AS1. But I prefer the old style too. I'm only basing this on the fact there was only a top 3 leaked and no winner. I'm sure all they would all know who won before we did if it was done in AS1 style. That's my interpretation anyway

I'm still going to watch it, of course, if only to support the queens themselves. While it is possible Phi Phi is exaggerating things, I'm not so naive to think that Drag Race is the one reality show that never uses manipulative editing. Honestly, a lot of people agree with you. However, it is very much set up for Alaska to win. If All Stars 1 was Logo's public apology to Chad Michaels for losing, All Stars 2 is Logo's public apology to Alaska for losing.
Nick Rh Oh trust me, I was furious that the judges glossed over Alaska's failure to actually stick to the challenge.
I'm late, but my problem with this season and a lot of recap shows is that they give people that have great personalities a pass, but judge people they don't like harsher. The challenge was two looks in one. Alaska and Alyssa did not have two looks. Period. This recap show kept saying the word "reveal". That wasn't the challenge. Violet had two looks, that was the challenge. And for two of those judges to tell Alyssa, you basically did crappy on your look and the challenge but I don't care because you are Alyssa is bullshit and that's what was Phi Phi was saying. If she did that poorly or anyone else, they would have got read for it. Detox agreed by shaking her head and I believe everyone else agreed, she was just brave enough to say it. I don't like Phi Phi and I LOOOVE Alyssa, but I'm going to call a spade a spade. She sucked in the challenge and her runway was not successful as it was not two looks and they gave her a pass, with the exception of Michelle. I feel like Toddrick and that other guy are super fans of the show and are fans of the girls and can't take themselves out of the fandom whereas Michelle has worked with them for so long, that she is able to do that.
Baby girl, I'm really late but just wanted to say that I completely agree with you. Certain people do get away with a lot more than others, but on an episode of the beat down even Willam, in response to someone having said something like this (it may have even been in response to something PhiPhi said but I'm not sure) said that "sometimes reality shows about drag just cast people who are good at reality TV that do drag" meaning that certain queens are there more because of their personalities or for a storyline, rather than because they are an amazing queen with a shot at going all the way. It's sad because I wish it were all based on talent and performance, from casting through to who wins, but the truth is that it is reality TV first, and a talent competition second, and that making good TV and ratings are the true first priority.
Personally I think Alaska's first look was a look, and that it fit the challenge well.

It was the first episode, they did whatever felt natural, they didn't know to do the one on ones, Roxxxy tried it and the producers liked it, so they did it from then on. It was unspoken agreement, the girls decided to try it and stuck with it, even Detox called Phi Phi out for not doing one on ones in EP. 4. Alyssa also never agreed to do what Phi Phi wanted to do with the critiques, so by Phi Phi's own definition Phi Phi "switched it up." Phi Phi is very talented, but she needs to own up to the game she played on the show. Every queen is calling her out for it, it's very apparent what she did, and she needs to just own it.
When they showed the 2-way mirror, I couldn't stop staring at Tatiana .... she looked GORGEOUS. I hope she gets back in!

he's a good singer and he does like half of his videos in drag which i guess was the producer's justification for including him. he actually did a video with laganja and rupaul and some others in it, but i dont think he does his own hair and makeup so for him to be judging the queens is weird.

Phi Phi isn't a bad person, but her mistake is being so opinionated and talking even when no one asks her opinion and gives the producers material to create a villain. I mean she made it to the finals before, she should know better. There are two kind of games in the show: one is the competition and the other one is the character portrayal, how are they shown to the audience. phi phi played the last one wrong
I think a big part of it too is that they're under so much pressure. On top of the seclusion and mental duress that Drag Race causes, it's all stars 2 so the stakes are higher than ever. It doesn't matter what strategy they enter with because ultimately the producers want to break them down and stress them out to get the best reaction. Just like season 4, I think Phi is in 'competition mode' and unfortunately it's not her sweetest side.
I think my only real big disagreement with your opinions on the runway this episode is that Ru said that the category was 2 looks in 1. For me, Phi Phi, Roxxxy, Detox and Katya had at least 2 seperate looks that were different and looked good. Alaska and Alyssa despite having great reveal looks didn't really have a first look at all (especially Alaska). That really was my main problem, I think Alyssa deservedly went home but Detox should have been in the top (great looks, great performance) whereas Alaska should have been safe (great performance, 1 fantastic look). I feel like I may get ripped to shreds by having this opinion though!

+Pmr It's not really about matching, more about two separate yet individual looks. Violet's were both fantastic looks with the reveal between them being the cherry on top. All of them had a first and second look (Detox had a third haha). Alyssa's first look wasn't that good at all although the reveal helped, same with Alaska except her first look was literally black bin bags all over her. If it was her All Stars entrance look then fine but it wasn't, it looked a mess, thank god she had Lil' Poundcake under there otherwise she could have been in trouble. But then again she's going to win anyway so she could do whatever she wanted!
I agree about the looks, but I still get why Alaska made top two. She destroyed the acting challenge, and as far as picking tops & bottoms go, runway pales in comparison to the emphasis placed on the challenge itself (most of the time, anyway.)

Edit: also another fun fact: Alyssa's and Alaska's storyline this episode mirrors what happened with Bette and Joan after they filmed the movie. Bette was praised for her performance, but Joan was overlooked as her character wasn't as eccentric, it all culminated with Bette receiving an Oscar nomination and Joan getting snubbed; this was especially hurtful for Joan, as she fought to get the film produced and was the one who brought Bette on board (a little like how Alyssa brought Alaska as her partner as well); but the twist was that Joan offered to receive the oscar for the other nominees who weren't attending the ceremony. Bette lost to Anne Banncroft for The Miracle Worker (in an excellent performance by Anne btw), and watched as Joan received the Oscar for her.

The producers are sticking their hands into the competition way too much this season. It is so obvious that they are trying to control the whole "the queens send each other home" twist.
1. (First week) Adore being bullied and in the bottom
2. (Second week) Putting Rujubee as the guest judges in snatch game when Tatiana was there
3. (Second week) Phiphi being in the top 3 over Alyssa for the snatch game
4. (Third week) Giving Katya princess Diana and giving it to her last minute
5. (Fourth week) Putting Katya in the bottom three after she was the funniest part of the scene in the acting challenge
6. (Fourth week) Switching the bottom 3 to bottom 2 third week then back to bottom 3 fourth week.
I would be mad at Phiphi if i didn't completely agree with her. I though her and Michelle right. I just don't think its fair that Alyssa can get away with unintentionally bad acting and a bad transition only to get praise. I feel like her fans for the most part do the same with her.

I KIIIND of agree, but here is the deal, alyssa is enjoyable in her messy ways, I would still go see her messy ass outfits, the bitch has start quality, and this is coming from someone that didn't really like her during season 4, she has really grown on me.
The thing is that Alyssa's personality, star power, and messiness all contribute to her "getting away" with things other queens wouldn't get away with. Phi phi is mad that she would get read for wearing the same outfit Alyssa had, but what Phi phi doesn't get is that Alyssa can pull it off and she can't. Was Alyssa's reveal not that dramatic? Sure, but the end result was something fabulous, creative, and different from anything we've seen on drag race that only Alyssa could pull off.
Right! Totally not fair. She's such a big personality that the judges are fan girling over her even if she sucks which is fucked up and I would be pissed if I were the other competitors. They literally said "you did poorly in the challenge and your look wasn't successful, but I don't care because you're funny." not a direct quote but it's close lol. Phi Phi was just saying what everyone who can have an objective opinion was thinking, and I don't believe she was alone in what she said. Even Detox was shaking her head in agreeance. I don't like Phi Phi because she isn't "fun or charming", but i agreed with her then. If she did as poorly as Alyssa, she would have got read for it, particularly because no one really cares for her personality.

She should be more like Roxxy, she was an evil bitch on season 5 towards Jinkx and even turned on Alaska at the end but on all stars she's showing that she's changed and isn't being shady like Phi Phi.
I was pretty disappointed by all the shequels except for Alaska's performance, I love Katya but I just thought she and Detox were ok I just didn't find the writing that great.I was also hoping for more from Katyas runway, the dress its self was pretty boring the look was saved by the satanic stuff. But I didn't think Katya should have been in the bottom, should have been Roxxy and Alyssa.

+ MovieBitches the only thing I've come up with for why Katya was in the bottom 3 or why there was 3 was that they picked the person who did the "worst" out of each pair...or because some of the judges may not have like Katya's runway...which in my opinion it was more on the bottom of the spectrum compared to Roxxxy's Phi Phi's or Alaska's runway....and then there is the theory that some judges could have felt Katya's runway was slightly offensive with the Sharon Tate reference.

I was trying to figure out what they're going to do. Alaska sent home 2 queens; it seems unfair for her to lip sync against both Alyssa and Tati, so I don't think that's going to happen. Then I remembered that Adore should have been here so I'm thinking that they were going to wait until 5 queens were eliminated to have 5 vs 5, but now it's gonna be a 4 vs 5 episode next week. I'm not sure how they will fit it in with the queens coming back, but I'm excited to see what happens!

Btw, Rigor Mortis the movie is a good horror movie. The judging is still biased, from both the judges and the lipsync winner. I rewatch and rewatch the episode and still don't see anything bottom worthy in Alyssa's look. I cringed when Michelle is kissing Alaska's and coming for Alyssa's looks. They, esp Michelle could have read Alaska's first "i-just-wrap-myself-in-trashbag" look, but she/ they didn't, so. I see favoritism again there. Alaska sent home the wrong queen. She saved Roxxxy again, because that's her friend. That fake tears after she announced who she picked is absolutely "she ordered those tears from Chiina", Sharon Needles" moment. But, fair elimination or not, that's her prerogative as the lipsync winner. In my opinion, she made the wrong choice, in theirs, (the little cahoots on who they think should go home) it's fair. Phiphi makes a good TV. I am glad she stays the same and she still blames editing as if everything that came out of her mouth is computer-generated caboodle.

SORRY FOR RANT: I definitely agree with Avaryl that competition could be what brings out a nasty side of Phi Phi (she did say she has a naturally bitchy side which I respect) and I also agree that she IS saying all these things and giving the editors loads of ammo. BUT I also think they editors are focusing on her bits way more than what could be the other girls also agreeing or chiming in on these scenes because they are set in making Phi Phi the villan. I would put money down that either the producers start her off knowing she'll speak her mind and/or we don't see the other queens speaking their mind about the situation all we see is Phi Phi's opinions. Either way, Miss Thang did say all those words and she has a tone problem (cue Untucked scene "your tone seems really pointed right now") and if she wanted to COMPLETELY avoid all the drama she should have shut her mouth and been more reserved or fake when talking shit about the fan favourites. She knows people love Katya, she knows people love Alyssa... keep your negative reads out of your mouth. Unfortunately she has to do that to get us to like her more because all we know her as is being suuuuper cunty so she doesnt have the luxury of being that real when it comes to criticizing on TV.
They cast all of the queens with predictable personas. Obviously people like Alaska, Katya, Adore, and Alyssa are supposed to be the heroes. Detox, Tati, Ginger, and Coco are supposed to be the underdogs. Roxxxy and Phi Phi are supposed to be the villains. But a lot of these queens (mostly Detox and Roxxxy) had the common sense to try and break out of these roles, unlike like Phi Phi who slipped right back into that Villain role, just like season 4 all over again.
Alyssa and Alaska didn't have the best first outfit but Alaskas acting was amazing so they let it go

I am not rooting for Phi Phi by a long shot but a) she did deserve to win: she had two looks in one and she did a great job in her skit. b) she has opinions that are not nice or popular. She probably is not the only one but they are editing her as if she is and if producers ask her certain questions, she answers them. Queens through mild to severe shade all the time on RPDR. Everyone (myself included) loves Raven but she was mean. I will admit I don't like PhiPhi because she's killjoy but people are blowing her shadiness out of proportion.

It should have been Roxxxy and Alyssa in the bottom 100%. There was like nothing between Katya and Detox, they both did well in the task and Katya had a slightly better runway than Detox in my opinion. Bottom 3 was absolute bullshit this week.
As soon as I saw Ru's runway look while watching this episode I thought of you guys getting hyped for her legs, hahaha

The consistency on this episode was very off as well. Out of the three sketches that were produced, only one of them (Katya and Detox) was the best written overall. Both Velma and Wheezy were equals in the sense of lines and overall characterization. If you look at the sketches that team Phi Phi-Roxxxy, and team Alaska-Alyssa did, the writing was really uneven.
Roxxxy played Little Versace, the ingénue character; as far as stock characters go, ingénue are always boring compared to others. In retrospect, if you look at most teen films that you watched growing up, the ingénue protagonists of said films always kind of less three dimensional and interesting than those of others around them. That scene was much more about Big Versace being a stage mother than Little Versace at all.Even a film as Iconic as ”Whatever Ever Happened to Baby Jane” BOTH Blanche and Jane had equal development. From the rehearsals Alaska had the much meatier role and Alyssa had to be weak and subdued ”Bland”. Even Big Freedia seemed to have more of a presence on film than Alyssa did.Not to mention the ”directing“ for the challenge really wasn’t at all helpful. Katya was penalized for not being great the first few takes? Who cares?! That wasn’t apparent from the finished product, I don’t many actors who do great in all of their first takes of what they have filmed! Also not judging them as duos made no sense to me either.
Really Katya and Detox deserved to the win the challenge this episode, NOT Alaska and Phi Phi. Also Alaska’s lip synch performance….WHY was she wearing boots?! She should have just worn that pink dress that Roxxxy lent her and not her Lil Poundcake under it, just looked sloppy. Why isn’t that Alaska can win a lip synch wearing boots and anyone else who takes off their shoes deserves to be shot out of a cannon?!People were saying that Chad got the soft touch so he could the first season of All Stars, I think the same thing is happening with Alaska.
EXACTLU! I think that they have basically set it up on every challenge to get rid of Alaska's competition and just keep around Phi Phi and Roxxy because no one wants to see them win! If I'm right, then they won't get rid of Phi Phi and Roxxy until it is just the two of them (or possibly one of them and a return queen) and the 3 queens they have already decided to be "top 3".
Don't get me wrong, I have said from the begining that Alaska should win, but if I were Alaska I would want to win honestly....but that's just me...
Guess we will see how it goes, but I have a sinking feeling that I'm right. ALSO, all this crap about sticking to this alleged "agreement"---what the hell is all that about! Ru Paul said she wanted the winner of each competition to choose who goes home! It deletes the purpose of the winner just goes with what the judges say! I mean, what's the point? Might as well just have the judges do it! :(
Thinking about this episode's outcome is really weird, because you have to consider, what if they had been judged in pairs like many other partner challenges (and the comedy challenge in the following episode)? If that had happened instead, surely Katya and Detox would have won because they were the strongest together, and Roxxxy and Phi Phi would have likely been in the bottom. Also, Phi Phi herself. She won, but I wouldn't say that she was any better than Detox or Katya; she had a weaker partner to outshine, like Alaska did. I suppose that when the performance quality of the two queens is as wide-ranged as it was in the chase of Phi Phi and Roxxxy/Alaska and Alyssa, you have to judge them individually. But still, it makes Katya's bottom three placement seem even more unjustified and unnecessary.

quick question, I've watched every season of drag race including season 4, I don't recall Phi Phi having a speech impediment during that season. Does anyone else notice she has like a kind of strange almost lisp now?

I don't like Phi Phi as she is on these shows. I don't know her other than what I've seen on here. I can say, however, that I am a perfectly nice, normal, sane man except when I am competing whether it be on the tennis court or a game of bingo (which is such a random thing to compare, yet I find the need to make it a personal competition). Phi Phi's problem, like me and bingo, is that she takes EVERYTHING so personally--at least it seems.
Did you see on Logotv.com, Ru says that All Stars 2 is getting an 'old fashioned reunion special'! Do you think that means AS2 is getting the same kind of intimate and low-budget reunion that season 1 through 3 got, cause I know you two always say you LURVE the old reunion format!

Leaked from Alaskas then boyfriend apparently who so far has been correct in emilination order (althougth i don't remember fully as it was up for only a few hours), they're doing a reunion/crowning like they do with normal seasons which they didn't do with AS1. But I prefer the old style too. I'm only basing this on the fact there was only a top 3 leaked and no winner. I'm sure all they would all know who won before we did if it was done in AS1 style. That's my interpretation anyway
MovieBitches Yeah, the accusations Phi Phi has levied on the show, the producers in particular, makes me feel kind of uncomfortable with the show now. I'm still going to watch it, of course, if only to support the queens themselves. While it is possible Phi Phi is exaggerating things, I'm not so naive to think that Drag Race is the one reality show that never uses manipulative editing. Sorry Latrice Royale, but as you said, the SHADE of it all (not just the shade of one or two queens who got the villain edit)
I anticipate this like I anticipate RuPaul's Drag Race every week!
