    This is by far the best explanation I’ve seen. Was searching for 15 min before finding your video and it’s by far the best!

    Checking daily is a bit extreme. I check about once a month, And take notice of the temp gauge between checks. Never had a problem doing this.

    Thanks for the vid on this important topic. What should I consider to do, if I found the expansion tank empty, but the radiator is top level? No overheating shown on the gauge, no visible leakages outside. Regards Heinz

    Hi, there is a hose on the right side of my Kubota L2850 DT (1993), which shows some drops spilling ( near on the manifold hydraulicbloc). Does the engine become too hot? I would expect, that all the hot coolant should be stored in the expansion tank. Could you shed some light on the set-up, please. Regards Heinz

    Have a Grasshopper 721D with Kubota Diesel. Bought last year used. There was oil in the radiator which I thought he might of added an additive. Mowed with it last year no problems. It wouldn't start this spring so the dealer pick it up put a starter in it and said something about the oil in the radiator. He flushed it out added new fluid and everything looked good. I checked it the other day and oil again. No fluid in my oil. Got me stumped can you enlighten me.

      You are enlightened.
      Actually, your oil pressure is say 30-45 psi. coolant typically is 5-15 psi. your oil leak is likely pushing into the coolant but your coolant cannot push back into the oil.

    If the reservoir has a hole does it effect the ability to pump it back to the radiator?

    • @upnorthyooper1196
      @upnorthyooper1196 5 лет назад

      Depends where the hole is. If the pick up tube is below the fluid level vacuum will pull it back to the radiator. They were talking about a hole in the line between the reservoir and the raditor.

    Can't even see the tank in my Civic 2012. It took me forever to even find it and to make it worse the tank is quite opaque so no idea how I can check its levels 😢

    Nice explanation. I have a question. After completing around 2500 kms on my new motorcycle, one day I noticed my reservoir coolant level was just below the low mark. But the radiator was full. I’m worried, is it okay? please help.Thanks in advance

      I’m assuming your rad has a 50/50 antifreeze mix. I assume you’ve added to the reservoir tank to bring it back up to the low mark? If it was only just a little down, like 1-2 oz, it’s likely just evaporation. In that case, just add distilled water. If it’s down 4-6 oz, you might have a leak. Add 50/50 mix rad fluid and investigate the leak.

    This is not helpful. I have a 2nd gen (IRS) RTV 900 and have looked from engine compartment and under the seat, but cannot find how to check/fill coolant.

    • @spudth
      @spudth 4 года назад

      This is a great explanation. Many cooling systems are unique and you may need to check for your specific application. Sometimes the reservoir is only a catch can and not a reservoir that can be evacuated. Some have the plastic container as the actual pressurized tank on your system. follow the radiator hose from engine to radiator. then look at the top of the radiator. It must have a cap or a hose that goes to a reservoir. I have a genset that has a onan cummins that has a separate reservoir bottle that has a hose to the radiator do you have that?
