OOO! I made a similar one of those fret presses with a harbor freight $3.99 similar clamp and a $10 brass 12" radius brass fret cawl. I just left the soft rubber on one side and filed a slot into the other and epoxied that ho in. Works great
Well, you definitely got your 100 bucks back with that vintage rosewood board. Thanks for all the pro tips and tool ideas. Looks and sounds fantastic! Great vid production as always.
So, is the neck wood or plastic? I'm a bit confused...the colour suggest some kind of plastic/plastic coating from the late 1970's. If it is a coating on wood, did you consider sanding it and reshaping the neck? Great work as usual. Absolutely love that pick up. The overall aesthetic reminds me of a fortnight I spent in a psych ward during my wild youth! Pretty sure all the tables were coated in the exact same Formica. Good days.
lol I was also “gifted” some of those random junk strings by my friend who works at parrot dice. Still not sure what I’m going to do with 10 string steel guitar string.
Formica!!!! not Micarta. My bad dude, I had that wrong didn't I? Any way In my opinion it should never be a construction material an acoustic guitar. Of course I don't really mind it in an electric.
Just wondering if you were going to sell it how much would you maybe sell it for it's probably not for sale I'm pretty sure LOL but if it's reasonable enough and you ever want to get rid of it please please let me know kind sir

National Reso logo shield. I LIKE IT
I need one of those!
That neck colour is commonly known as “le pudding d’hôpital” or “expired peptobismol”
Tres chic!
Not only can you shred, you can dice, chop and grate.
Yes man your a brave soul to finish something someone else gave up on 😊
This is wonderful! It sounds really good

I like the poor orphan thing!
I couldn't click on this fast enough. Great stuff as always
Much appreciated!

👀 yes perhaps Formica leads a lot of people to dark memories. The neck is wood…the coating might just be housepaint. It’s comfy even though it’s wonky
the case is 10/10 alone
It’s pretty nice! I almost lined it with some brown crushed velvet but the project took way longer than expected
Man, it’s like you walk your dog in a Disney movie!
It’s pretty f#king nice here
It’s so stupid- I love it.
Very cool!!
You are almost a Disney princess with golden hair and animals flocking around. 😀
Unless you're using steel sanding blocks for your radius work, even the precut wooden ones are not high precision.
Amen
I like to run the drill in reverse for less chip out on the tuner holes
Hot tip!
fish glue is great for paper and mice
Hahahah 🐁
Period kitchens with that Formica often have hideous brass hardware... also oddly works with whatever color the neck is...
Should have gotten a toaster pickup for your kitchen counter guitar.(rimshot)
Oh dang! Didn’t even think of that when I was trying out the Dearmond “toaster” pickup
lol I was also “gifted” some of those random junk strings by my friend who works at parrot dice. Still not sure what I’m going to do with 10 string steel guitar string.
Hahahah yessss! I’m going to give the steel guitar sets to my buddy who plays pedal.
Very rad. Did you make that variable radius sanding jig and could you share a bit more about it?
I think it’s more or less self explanatory, but perhaps I will make a DIY luthier tools video at some point.
Fish glue is good just give it 48 hours not 24 to cure up
Blackmarket rosewood dust dealer.
I see you did indeed take my idea for eating food off of your guitars.
Truth be told, IMHO one could always use, "a little bit of uh uh and a little bit of ah ah" don't you concur?
Just a little!
So how did you end up separating the formica dust from the plywood dust?
Is flat a valid way to dress frets? The maker just didn't have access to the tools and knowhow to crown them?
Yes. Classical style acoustics have flat fingerboards.
One can only guess

I’ll take that as a challenge
@@Notaluthier And I eagerly await the construction of a Formica dreadnought.
I love living in a neighborhood with deer all over the place. It will make surviving the coming apocalypse (biblical, nuclear, zombie) much easier.
I've been deeply invested in wood dust futures for years. So far my investments have yielded bags of unsold dust.
HODL
next maccaferri or emenee?
I want one of those variable radius sanders! Where would i get one?
Back in the day one of the Guitar supply shops stocked it but I don’t think it’s been since the 90s maybe. I think you have to make it yourself.
@@Notaluthier this is what I figured. Maybe with some redesigns to help with the drifting threads hehe
❤
