worked perfect on a 2014 chevy equinox. i bought the key on amazon. removed the laser cut key from the broken fob via the pin and inserted it into the new fob. replaced the pin and did this process. thanks

O’My this totally worked for me today 5/10/24 I lost my 1 & only keyphob to my 2015 equinox,,,there was 2 mistakes I made while using these instructions, I didn’t unplug the horn/alarm fuse & I had the door open, this cause pressure on the car battery & ran it down, now I have to start over with my car on jump cables connected to another running car while programming my new keyphob. After removing the horn fuse & kept the cable connected jump,my new key was programmed,,awww man/lady I was without car for 6days when it started I just got on the highway& rode awhile!!! THANK YOU MR KEY’PROGRAMA👏👏

The locksmith told me different instructions and to pry the key out with pliers when it's in the old 1 with a chip and then put it in the new 1 and to only leave in for like 20 seconds. I'm nervous of wrecking it with the pliers that's how I got in this situation when my key got stuck 😅 I am trying this, rather be safe then spend another $200

@ nope. I popped out the cut one and uncut one using a tool from my local hardware store and just switched them. You should be able to see a small pin holding the cut key in place. This only works if you have the old key though

It needs to be unlocked by someone with the correct equipment before it can be programmed to a different vehicle. It may just be cheaper to buy a new one
Q: I have a 2015 Chevy Equinox. I only have 1 key for it. The car engine will not start. When a mobile mechanic came over, he said the computer scanner says the car is not detecting a key (not sure if it’s the anti-theft system or because the key is kind of worn out). Went to Amazon and purchased a replacement. Going to get it cut ASAP. Would I do the same process in this video? What steps would I take if it’s possibly the theft system? Asking because I notice that when I unlock the car by putting the key in the driver door (buttons on car remote are broken/gone), the only way I can turn the alarm off is if I take the battery out the car remote. Hope to hear from you soon.
Have you tried replacing the battery in your existing key? If the anti- theft system is triggered that can prevent the key programming from being successful so you will most likely need to get that figured out before you can program the new key.
Did this vehicle give you a security light? I just replaced the ECU on my 2016 and I'm trying to relearn my key based on the instructions from flagship which are the same as these but it says there should be a security light which I'm not getting unfortunately.
Yeah - if you look closely you can see it in the video at 1:12. It's the orange lock with a car behind it icon up by the "MPH" in the speedometer. It may in a different location on the Equinox dash but the icon will look the same
Thanks so much for the info, I have a 2016 Chevy equinox LT 2.4 liter with flip key-fob that didn't come with a second key-fob I called a locksmith and they wanted to charge me 39.00 for mobile service fee and 100.00 to 300.00 to cut the key, so guys I found true hardware or Ace hardware store that cuts automotive key-fob keys for 15.00 bucks. it work and now my spare key-fob works great
Once you have a new key cut, unlock the the drivers door twice (unlock 2 times without locking ). If you have already unlocked the car - then lock the drivers door with your new key first, then unlock it twice
This video is for the 2014 - 2017 equinox. The information I have shows this procedure will not work on a 2010 so that may be why you are having issues
Hopefully this works. My key fob broke so I went about replacing the case. The board inside lost some pieces (which we resoldered) but now the alarm sounds everytime I try to start it or lock it.
When your doing this do you have to sit in the vehicle the whole time? Cause it didn’t work for me as I was getting out and going back in the vehicle for every 10mins

Yes, the whole flip-key should program at the same time. There may be an issue with the key you are using.

If you have no working keys then you will not be able to program a new key yourself. You will need an automotive locksmith or dealership

This procedure wont work if your battery dies during - you may need a new battery first.
your car battery was bad from start u should be able to leave tour car stereo playin for hours with out batt going dead
