Thank you! I've been collecting equipment for years, top notch, but used parts and mostly through eBay. I'm glad to see a manufacturer produce the whole package that's very usable. I have to say I probably have spent more on putting together microscopes from parts than if I bought something like you mention complete. I have to add that it's easy to fall into the trap of thinking you know everything you need to know if you don't see other people's research, so thanks again.
I wish you would have compaired the topend microscope to the AM without changing variables, aka use the same camera on both. How much was the actual scope and how much was the camera. For example, in photography people think they need to upgrade their camera but usually, with a dslr, they are much better off upgrading their lens.
The 4k camera doesn't fit on the AMscope - it's much bigger. The Amscope is thinner. It's not just the camera - like in music we have to monitor the signal chain the entire way. Any drop in quality ruins the signal or in this case the image. When clarity determines how definitive you can be with your assessments, clarity is everything.
@ThePermacultureStudent ok, so don't use the 4k camera on the expensive one when comparing, I'm saying compare both microscopes with the same camera. Or say what you are really comparing is the camera.
@@jamesf2697 The lenses are totally different grades from LW to AMscope. The i4 is a professional microscope - the AMscope is an introductory microscope for students.
Can you please clarify what is the difference between the semi-plan and the plan microscope (i4 Infinity Trinocular Microscope) as they have two options in their website?
Great idea - I am testing a few ideas out. Here's an organic cotton t-shirt that I just created: the-permaculture-student-wear.creator-spring.com/listing/regenerative-soil-microscopy-o
I didn't choose my trinocular polarising compound microscope with integrated 4K camera, it chose me. 🤔 If truth be told... (It was a freebie and I'd be a idiot to decline the offer). 😉
@@MattPowersSoil I couldn't be happier with it and certainly takes me back to my college days. I like showing my son the incredibly spectacular imagery that hides within the microscopic universe! He was gobsmacked just looking at the mountainous jagged edge of an empty glass slide. 😉👍
I lost 50 lbs since July. One meal and snacks . My 2nd wedding cake cannabis was amazing. The frost , colors and phenotypes and overall quality. The guy I got the seeds from a sack he gave me couldn't believe it . It finished 2 weeks early from super blue labs ? although there was one anomaly .My 4 new 20 fabric 🎉 grew all male plants. This is why i want a microscope.I put organic cactus soil mix plus compost, biochar etc same as the 6 old pots so it must be the sand or something? Can't be a coincidence,it was 13 plants 😂 . Also I did illegal rain collection so my water quality was better . I will send pics of my projects. Been experimenting with using stainless steel mesh as grow media and it works great. Don't need soil as the sprouts feed off the seed, especially peas Also black oil sunflower and broccoli greens, which are super high in sulforathane . Finally got my pile to 135 f . Just turned it adding greens (N) every 3 days . Seen the 3rd shaking prophecy? Don't scare your family with it. I also want to establish a mystic/yogic / artist off grid community. ❤😊
Can you provide a link on the recommended microscope please? How do we get the discount?
Wow that's amazing to be able to see them so clearly.
Does any of this microscopy work help evaluating water quality? Can water quality testing be democratize to citizen scientists and home labs ?
I was wondering about this as well! Great question
You might be able to see a few bacteria or protozoa, but most water contamination is dissolved chemicals.
We used an atomic absorption spectrometer at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard lab to test for different metal concentrations in dry dock water. .
@DP-qb1zw would that instrument pickup dioxins , fluoride, glyphosphate
@@David-kd5mf No, those are all dissolved chemicals.

I would love to use this, but its kind od out of my price range as a hobby Gardner :(
Yeah, this is almost out of reach even sharing it between multiple people for most of us. I can respect the differences now though!

Must the objectives be achromatic, semi plan or plan?

Awesome Matt. Maybe you can sell prints, those pictures would make great posters, t shirts, ECT.

Awesome idea!!!!
the microplastics stuff is really scaring me and i think it's way undervalued as a subject matter
I suppose you would get 2000x through the 20x eyepieces but not to the camera, correct?
Wow, seriously, microplastics already even when you weren't specifically looking at them? This is a serious issue..
❤
