Loved this mini series when I was young and now I have it on DVD. Amazing to see both Hugh Grant and Courtney Cox before they were famous, but it's also the first time i saw Charles Shaughnessy outside The Nanny.
Never thought I would see Hugh Grant playing a serious baddie. This must have been before he was type cast as a comedian. He played the part well showing he is a real actor.
I loved this show so much . I was very young, and it wasn’t appropriate for my age ( and we did got the edit version on Sri Lankan tv ) but some how I would manage to listen to it ..... sometimes my grandma would allow to sit with her to watch it. This brought back memories 💗. Of how easy and happy life was , how love used to be pure ..... miss those days ... miss my childhood...
Thank you for posting this series. It's been years since I've seen it and since I'm much older now I'd forgotten most of it anyway. But..........let me say it was SO satisfying to see a 'certain someone' get what was coming to them. Didn't want to spoil it for anyone.
Brilliant...enjoyed it very much Absolutely love Mia Sara(Queenie) So strange seeing Courtney Cox in this role which she plays very well bcos she's synonymous with Friends
Wow! This was on with my daughter was a newborn so it's like the only miniseries that I missed! I think it's the best one, and I was such a miniseries buff in the 80s when these were popular. Nothing can compare to the grand sagas with such wonderful stories and characters which they just don't do anymore. It also troubles me that people are starting to forget the evil that was the Nazis. Even in this light dramatization, it's a good depiction of how it was then and how the evil tore families apart. But aside from that it was just such a beautiful story. ACTUALLY cried tears when the evil Hugh Grant finally got what was coming to him. I don't think I'll ever look at him the same way again and he's one of my favorite actors. So many Judith Krantz miniseries are more popular than this one and I think this is the best. Thank you so much for the upload; One of the most enjoyable Saturday afternoons I've spent in a while.
Hugh Grant is an actor, he was playing a part that of Bruno de Lancel. In real life, he has never colloborated with Nazis nor raped his half-sister for he doesn't have one. Just as Antony Hopkins is not a serial killer who eats people though he played that part in Silence of the Lambs.
In a book Paul died himself in a stabble. Heart attack. It should remain the same. Here he and Laura died cruel death and in book they died natural causes.
Paul's 2nd wife Eve had better judgment than his 1st wife Laura. She didn't kill herself after Paul left to the war. You should be the same, Laura ! Too bad.
0:17 - Bruno, you simply shouldn't come to your father's funeral. Why did you spit on his grabe ? JERK ! Only time in my life I've seen these. I won't ever again, I'm sure !
@@sasojalovec2569: I find that Krantz's stories should not be tempered with. She is a very capable writer, the stories make sense. Pity the films always alter from them.
Absolutely brilliant movie Thank You

Never thought I would see Hugh Grant playing a serious baddie. This must have been before he was type cast as a comedian. He played the part well showing he is a real actor.
He had plenty of serious roles in the 80's & 90's, Maurice, Remains of the Day, An Awfully Big Adventure and White Mischief to name just a few.

Karma's a bitch, ain't it Bruno?
the book is better, trust me
There's also a book ? I didn't know. Please, tell me differences !
Way too many differences to list. Read the book by Judith Krantz. Same title.
@@majagara I did. You were right, lots of differences. Most important, Laura died herself, Paul also. Both from illness. It should remain the same.
@@sasojalovec2569: I find that Krantz's stories should not be tempered with. She is a very capable writer, the stories make sense. Pity the films always alter from them.
0:14 - Paul se krivi za Bruna. Drugače bi ravnal, Paul, pa bi bilo vse prav ! Ne bi ga smel prebičati !
