Married to a man who likes to do things with very noisy tools, I have a set of ear protectors, like are found on construction sites. Helps LOTS! Would look a bit strange for filming, I grant, but would also be an idea for others who are noise sensitive. Good job on the flips.
I love the skirt! It's such a great colour combo. I've been wondering about cutting up and remaking an old favourite dress with a jellyfish print cause I never wear it anymore. It's one of the more feminine pieces in my wardrobe and I just don't really feel like me in it even though it looks good!! (Also I totally relate to the sensory overload with constant loud noise, it's one of the things that can really make my day grind to a halt)
I respect your skills my mom could sew anything and you are fearless and I am sure ripping seems but hey nothing good comes easy. I can crochet and knit anything but sewing is just a foreign language to me, I wish I had lessons to learn.
I wish I could knit! My mum has taught me before but I can't remember. I learnt to crochet by watching youtube - maybe you can learn to sew that way? When winter rolls around I'm planning to learn to knit - probably just by watching videos 🤸🏼
Hello 👋🏼👋🏼 Steph! with the red top hemming part, I watched a few videos on how to hem stretchy fabrics like yours and they all used either a zigzag stitch or a double needle stitch (if am correct 🤔). Maybe if you hem with a double needle, there won’t have any puckering 🤔 …to test it out next time!! 😁😁 Thanks for sharing your thrift flips - I like your videos 🤩 Laurine
Steph, your videos are SOOOOOOOOO GOOD!!! Love these flips with repurposing what you already own, and modifying them into pieces that will get more USE! 😊 I'm in the process of gradually doing the same with my own clothes, especially after a significant inadvertent weight loss over the past few years. Even though I'm not a professional seamstress, having some practical skills is really handy! This may be easier said than done, but there's never a need to put pressure on yourself when your original video concept doesn't go as planned in the permitted time frame. Honestly, flipping only one garment in one video can be just as enjoyable to a viewer- I can't even begin to tell you how many times I've watched, re-watched, and enjoyed viewing a video where the creator flipped ONE pair of jeans for the entire video!!! 😍 Also, no worries about switching to voice overs during times when speaking as you go is not possible. From a viewer perspective, I LOVE a mixture of speaking AND voice overs, because it holds my attention and adds a storytelling element to the video, creating a very enjoyable experience. You are NOT ALONE with being triggered by excessive and uncontrollable noises and sounds in your environment either. I'm also triggered by various noises in various circumstances, and not many people can relate or understand (thankfully I have ONE friend who completely understands and doesn't judge, even though they don't experience it themselves). I saw your use of headphones in the video, which is a great way to experience relief- with or without music (which I do a lot, often without music lol) I'm certain your upcoming youtube adventures, and post-graduation adventures are going to bring you so much joy, every day! Keep being awesome in every way possible Steph! Fawn 😊🩷
I've seen With Wendy sew thin 1/4 or 1/8" elastic that she got in bulk to finish stretchy seams, and having tried it myself, theres a bit of trial and error with getting the tension right but its pretty effective!
Oh yes I have some loops but not the ones that block everything out... the noise that was bothering me was pretty loud so that's why I went for the noise cancelling headphones. Good to have options!
Dritz Wash Away Wonder tape is a water soluble stablizer that makes sewing stretchy seams and hems so much less stressful 😅 Definitely don't forget to use a stretchy stitch like a zig-zag though!

Thanks! And totally cut up the jellyfish print and turn it into something you'll wear or use like a bag or something!
All your flips turned out great 😊
Thanks so much! Such a loyal viewer 💕

I love a good French seam!!
100%! So satisfying 👌🏼👌🏼
Great video. Shame the music is annoying.
🤷🏼

Oh yeah I've seen that! Literally the day after I finished this edit 😅
Loop earplugs are awesome--some tone the noise down without cutting the noise out completely. Comfortable and washable

I'll have to get some for my stash. Thanks for the tip!
