Really good video. I especially liked the calm way it was explained. Often youtuber get to much excited about themselves apearing fun and cool that I get distracted and often dont understand what they actually want to say. I can confirm that the length of the vowels seems very important. That was the only time my Czech husband did not understand me or complained about my Czech when I got this wrong or neglected it. Another important point in Czech language might be that always the first syllable of a word is stressed (unless there is a preposition. In that case it merges with the word and the stress is on the preposition). When I started learning Czech I found it quite hard to stress the first syllable and not the long vowel in the word. I also recomment to concentrate more on surrounding youself by spoken Czech than to stick to much to language courses. In spoken Czech words are often changed by adding suffixe or syllables to make it sound nicer (diminutiv) e. g. you learn kava (coffee), but you might be invited for a kaficko, you learn pes (Hund), but the old lady represents you her pejsek. You learn holka (Mädchen), but the shop owner may ask you, if your baby is a holcicka. The phrase I heard most from my husband when I asked him something about sentences in my language courses, was "... but we dont say it that way."
This is good thing on slavic languages, you don't need so much words like in English. Doma/at home is very good example. Look on manual for some product and compare length of text with Czech and German or English, it's crazy! :-D I think Czech is absolute perfect language. :-D
You are an amazing teacher!! but sadly there is no easier way to learn Czech!!it is one of the hardest languages to learn I think :( I'll keep watching you over and over until I can pronounce all those letters correctly..Many thanks! awesome job!!
Hello and thank you for you kind words! I have learned quite many languages so far so I can now objectively say that Czech language is quite easy to learn but hard to master. I am learning Finnish now and see many similarities, although Finnish is much more complex than Czech. Keep in mind that you can learn all the words in their basic forms in order to learn to make sentences and then learn all the declensions and cases later. The Czech people will still understand you even if you use infinitive forms of verbs and 1st case of nouns. Just make sure you got a good vocabulary and then take it further from there.
Hola, my name is Jacqueline - IELTS teacher Vietnam, I am learning Latin System, Italian, then move on to German, Czech, French, Russian.... my desire is 20 languages. How many languages can u speak?
hello. thanks very much for your video. this is absolutely helpful for beginners but i have a trouble finding the website you recommend for Different cases of the words. Could you please send me a link. Thank you
ตรงแรงจริง Jujuju I think it would be a good time for you to pick up something else. Believe us we have our reasons but thank you for your interest anyway
Ahoj! diky za to video :-) Mám rodinu z česko ale žiju v Jižní Americe tak to je těšké najít lidí z které mluvit česky, haha. Má někdo tipy na výslovnost "ř"? Ahoj!
Nuwakot Boom no there is nothing like it . the best thing would be you would pick up another language , we would be very appreciative for it. I am sure you will be very happy to pick up something else. we honestly think about the best for you, trust us we have our reasons.
Although these Czechs try to make fun of you (you need to get used to it in Czech Republic), I actually bought THEIR grammar books, when I reached the level to read some Czech.
I learnt ones a bit Bulgarian and now Czech. When I saw written Croation, I felt like, if speak these two languages you understand Croation, too. Am I wrong, 😉
11:33 i seen many where letter is dropped, but mayby its becouse they forget what learn school and now every where we learning czech wrong. just like finnish just read how is written if czech drop all special characters xD. if czech try be shorten everything why they not make easies words xD
13:07 allmost like finnish xD just becouze you czech you try shorten them lol I and Y sounds same. why Y is pronaunce I when Y should be Y lol. yeah im finnsh lol but its okay C and Z in finnish sound same
It is actually to important to differ between i and y. If i follows d, t and n, these letters are pronounct softly like dji, tji or nji. But are they followed by y they stay hard like di, ti or ni.
Dobry den:) I'm learning Czech language and I want to say thank your for your video. It's really helpful 😊
I learn how to pronounce Ř thanks to this guy.
THANK YOU, MY FRIEND.
me too!!! i think...
Oh dear, I thought that he letters ř and ž sounds the same.
I've just realised, ř is like Polish ż, and ž sounds softer than ř.
