Warner Baxter amazingly won Best Actor for this film!
i like the film
First Sound Western
That revolver is double action kind of out place for the time period. But no matter I like the film because it was a talkie and didn’t have to read the lines of the action. Also like the Cisco sombrero; bet you it would cost a pretty penny in todays market
1929: So much for happy endings. William Fox would continue with his Movietone sound-on-film system for another year or so, then switch to Western Electric. Most of the early sound actors were silent actors who had decent voices or stage veterans; both over-acted physically and paused for audience response.
Those silent actors put body language into their performances, making much better performances & movies, imo.
Woman in the stage is the wicked witch in The Wizard of OZ.
Margaret Hamilton's screen debut was four years after this. The actresses have similar noses, though.
