ytrewq431 yeah it’s insane one good r32 in the states can go for over 45k and r34 prices are worse but hope this car stay unknown if you know what I mean 😏
Celicas will stay so. I have st182, want to get a GT Four. Its good, its pretty much better in every way in GT Form to MK4 Supra, both 5th and 6th gen GT Four's. Easier to get, cheaper and easier to maintain, much more fun, having true 4-wheel drive, relatively high clearence, and being insanely practical for a coupe including Supra despite Supra being a bit bigger. Get non turboed 2.0L version of either 5th(st18) or 6th(st20) gens.

Thanks for filming my car James, and thanks to everyone who is here to watch. I do love my baby, if you see me around come and say Hi. I have an old 1989 celica GT, 3sf-e FWD base model nothing special in any way. still one of the funnest I've ever driven or owned Bought it back just recently after selling it
Nice to watch someone enjoy one of these hidden treasures! I've owned a red one for the last 14 years now and I still love it to bits!! Definitely never going to sell it!!😍😍😍

Great video, I am happy to see that there are quite a few people out there who love this car as I do. I have had my UK spec ST205 for seven years now and after giving it very little attention have just spent an epic amount on trying to get it back towards mint condition. Underside has been completely stripped back, corrosion removed and undercoated. Bodywork damage has all been repaired and resprayed in the original grey (looks silver to me!) and in my only unrecoverable concession to originality I have had the BC Coilover modification carried on the Superstrut suspension (this worked out as the same price as OEM replacement but gives me the ability to alter ride height and stiffness as I would like to run it on the track in the future). The car has been corner weighted and I am just waiting for the reconditioned steering rack to come back (failed during the test drive post corner balancing) then I should have her back. Engine is original and standard so it is a little down on power compared to the JDM version but to be honest it has more than enough as it is. I have, in the past and will in the future use her as a daily driver as it is an easy car to drive in all conditions. MPG is not great, 22-23 if I am driving Miss Daisy and down to single figures when you put your foot down but I don't really mind too much. I am running 18" alloys (the new suspension setup helps with this) and it has a slightly bigger exhaust and a dump valve fitted (had it when I bought it for a measly £1600, 7 years ago) but apart from that it is completely standard, even has the original Toyota stereo fitted! As you can probably tell I really enjoy owning the car, like Jay, I too grew up wanting one but could not afford to buy or insure it back then. I have the original bill of sale, back in 1995, it cost the original owner just over £30,000, with inflation that is now just over £57000 today, you can get a lot of car for that sort of money. Anyway, great video Jay, it has definitely made me feel better about the rather large sum of money I have just spent on mine.
I just bought a 94 Celica, the GT-Four is one of my dream cars, alas I live in the US so either I wait until I can import a GT-Four or I can just start on converting my own into one.
My step father had one of these when I passed my test, late 90s. I had two short goes in it. I wasn't allowed to have a proper go. At the time I hated it, but soon realised this isn't a first time driver. Would love one now.
Loved it JM. Each story is getting better, the conclusion was amusing and your confidence is (may I say..... finally?) settling down. You are a lot more relaxed.
In 1998 I bought a 1988 ST165, the GT4 over there and the Celica All Trac Turbo here in the US. It came in detuned form at 190 hp. with rally wheels that could have doubled as tank road-wheels. Even so it was pretty rapid. We quickly learned to use the cruise-control as a speed-limiting device; on the highway you literally couldn't feel the difference between 60 and 100mph and the speed would creep up on you any time your attention slipped. I kitted it out with lightweight Enkei 16" wheels and performance tires. Thanks to the internet I found out how to 'un-detune' it and It went from rapid to genuinely quick. But it had a problem; it was too good. Any ludicrous thing you asked it to do it just yawned and did it. You really didn't start having fun until you were at stupid speeds. I took it up a mountain pass at 125 mph and it was only mildly entertaining. A larger problem was they sold very few in the US; they were crazy-expensive when new and by the time I got mine parts were scarce and very expensive. Changing the clutch alone cost twice as much as doing a standard Celica as they had to pull the engine to do it. It was a fantastic car for covering the miles because it was so expensive that they gave it a pretty luxurious interior. It was known over here as 'The Gentleman's All-Weather Interceptor.' In the end it was just too expensive to keep it on the road and in good fettle, and I sold it on for less expensive to maintain cars.
Like all homologation cars, I ❤️LOVE❤️ these GT-Four’s! I so wish we could have got them here! My luck, by the time they’re legal to import, the prices will get stupid.
K&E Photography I still have a 182. Drives like a grannies car then you suddenly slam your foot down and off you fly. Love it. And everything still works after 27 years. Amazing build quality.
I just bought one of these cars a month ago after hunting for a really solid import in Canada (we have a 15 year import law so we can get them 10 years before the americans). It's a 1996 In Storm Grey, love the car. I definitely loved driving these cars in Gran Turismo 1 and 2, and that's what made me want a GT-Four so bad and I finally have one now! It needs a bit of love but it's going to be perfect in the years to come. Great review man! Keep it up!
I loved the Celica and I had to own one it became my dream car from playing the sega rally at the arcade against the delta hf integrale... Ended up owning a black one for 5yrs... Loved it... Would definitely own again.
Evora 400 owner and I have white 94 St205 WRC with full Recaro interior in States . Had for 15yrs in tuck away in storage . Getting a full refresh in coming years
I too am of the grand turismo generation and that celica , the skyline , galant and Mitsubishi gto was best cars on first one cant remember if supra was on it though that was a longtime ago nice videos ima subscribe
St205 was the car that got me into the car scene in the first place when I was growing up then I owned the 2L gt N/A model a couple of years ago and loved it
The more I looked at it while walking by everyday from school I loved it and now is my list to get 1 is super cool and used that celcica on rush rally 3 lol
Really nice vid showed your credentials in this on filming narration etc spot on. Same as you this was always a car on the wish list, closest i came was a wrc version about 4 years ago somewhere in kent, but the guy made me nervous with how little he’d done to it ,to look after it mechanically and the body was starting to look tired too, so walked away and to this day would still like one but now will probably never happen due to current prices and what else is available for that money, and the fact my priorities have changed. Lovely cars though if only they didn’t get caught for that turbo restrictor the car would’ve seen glory 😂
HID headlights were not factory fitment. Projector headlights were optional then became standard on JDM models for 1998. Because the car has projectors, this allows legal use of aftermarket HIDs in the UK. Also, you don't have to drain the chargecooler to change the spark plugs, you can quite easily move it to one side with all hoses still attached.
Been seeing more videos made about the ST205 recently, making me miss my one, but glad to say that it was a dream car of mine and never regretted buying one when I could
i love it...... i saw it, i want it, now ive driven it, i need it..... the one problem all of us celica owners face, its an addiction. i cant wait to be able to get one for myself. im absolutley in love with my st202, cant wait to 3sgte swap her, and to think im currently keeping my eyes peeled for a st182/5 and st162/5..... seriously, its an addiction
I had one for 18 months until 2012. Mine was blue with white alloys, 95 M. Mine was a UK spec, one of 300 or so I was told. It was mint, I made the mistake of selling it for a mere £2k. It was fast af, it could do 30mpg if driven nicely or when floored just 8mpg, yes I said 8mpg 😂 It had a few tweeks under the bonnet and 4" ss exhaust straight through. Boost was somewhat higher on my one than the one you drove based on what you said about speed. My brakes worked properly too. I was a member of the GT-Four owners club which saved a little on insurance which was surprisingly cheap anyway. I also had an ST202 (you forgot to mention the ST202) for 6 years, not a single thing went wrong with it. The GT-Four just needed a starter motor in the time I owned it. I miss both of them so much.
My late friend completely rebuilt his st185 Carlos sainz edition to 360bhp and then his lotus burnt orange coloured st205 to 450bhp. Awesome cars!! RIP Paul B 😞
I owned a 95 red st205 Gt4 JDM, big wing, speedline alloys, Mongoose exhaust which complemented the revvy Yamaha block. 16v Japanese cars have a distinct sound. Sold it for £3200 in 2013, wish I kept it now. The interior is perfect the way the cockpit is designed around the driver, it set up so all the controls hardly need any eye or arm movement. If the GTi driver sat down in the Celica he'll see the difference between generic VAG cars and what makes JDM cars so distinctive. This was Toyota at their peak.
This car is an absolute obsession of mine. We didn't get the gt4 here though. I ended up with a Gen 7 when I was younger, but always regretted not getting a Gen 6
Great video! As far as buying one goes, all I can say is just do it. I've been obsessed with GT-Fours since I was a very young kid and last year I finally bought an ST205. There's no way to convey how good these are without being being behind the wheel of one, and I don't think there's anything else on the road that drives like them. As you mentioned in the video, they are still an 'under the radar' and very underrated car, which is sort of annoying as far as monetary value goes, but that does make them quite accessible, until the US market gets their hands on them and possibly drives the price up.
Reliability and build quality shared only by other Toyotas of this era. Far superior to any other brand of car. I used mine every day for the 6 years I had it. The Celica has everything: looks, performance, racing heritage, rarity, just about enough comfort and practicality and also did I mension the fact it is an absolute tank? Im gutted I sold mine for £1800 only a few year ago but I just wanted a change and was becoming more aware of the cars weight and reluctance when turning into corners.
Hadena Gang | 派手なギャング one of the biggest reasons is due to the many wins the Evos and STIs have in the WRC over the very few The GT Four had. Naturally it will take a back seat in the spot light. Another reason is the Evo III debuted nearly the same time this did and that car was monstrous from the factory. Another reason is practically. With a 4 door you don’t have to sell when your family expands. Also just like James said in the beginning most people want a large selection of aftermarket parts for tuning. 3 years ago I had to make a choice between the Evo and GT-Four. I chose the Evo VII and couldn’t be more satisfied with the decision
So your telling me the GT4 didnt have many wins in rallying? I guess you must have missed the fact that the GT4 won the world championship drivers titles in 1990 and 1992 with Carlos Sainz, then in 1993 with Juha Kankkunen and in 1994 with Didier Auriol. It was THE dominant rally car in the early 90's winning 4 drivers championships in 5 years. So yeah, not much success then....... For reference the Evo also won 4 titles and the Impreza won 3, so it is at least in the same league of success, its just that people dont realise. The Evo and Impreza were built in the wake of the GT4's success, there is a very real possibility that they wouldnt have existed or been pushed to succed so hard without Mitsubishi and Subaru seeing the success of the 4wd Celica on the world stage.
You don’t need to drain the inter cooler to get to the spark plugs, there is enough flex in the pipes to leave on the side to gain access to the plugs.
Fantastic Video & Car. Owned that model car but a UK version. Even had a article done via pistonheads on the car. Very underrated and wish I had kept more than the 4 years I owned it. But happy it's in a classic car showroom now owned buy a car enthusiast. Its best to find a proper specialist as I did and the car was totally transformed. Tim @ Tb developments in Stourport on Severn or Martin Kingston in Blackburn. Also the model in the video is one of the last one's made. Reliability no issues with the one I had! Superstrut suspension is expensive but once done last years and years.
Completely agree they were underrated 🤷🏽♂️and understated . These were Toyota s answer for the Escort Cosworth, and not only did Toyota answer the question they passed the exam 💯 35 bhp more than the Cosworth in standard form . But people just didn’t know about them at the time. The Tinternet was only really for government agencies and unless you brought Car magazines and not only car magazines but Japanese specific Car mags very very few people actually knew about how capable the cars were. If you were watching Tv on a Sunday afternoon and you pestered you’re dad with a question like 🤔Dad if a lion 🦁 and a Tiger 🐅 had a fight who would win? His answer would be “Escort Cosworth “ now eat your dinner 🥘. Until an episode of Top gear when Clarkson reviewed the Celica and compared it to his own Escort Cosworth at the time 👍🏽and in the UK another working class hero was born.
Part of the gram turismo generation here to. And my dream cars all stem from those games haha. Though my bucket list was a little bit different. 3000gt (currently own) eclipse (currently own a gen4) Toyota MR2 (owned 2 and 1 i threw about 10 grand at it lol man i love that one. its now a collector car for some guy). Ones i haven't had the pleasure of owning are a lotus evora, and a Celica GT-4. ATM stoked that i FINALLY own a 3000gt and i managed to get own that was in relatively good shape with 164k miles which is low for a 1994. ITs got issues (leaking rack and pinion, needs shocks, brakes) but again minor stuff for its age. And recently had the 120k service done (how i found the rest of the issues listed). ITs such a freaking joy to drive lol. Cheers to you getting to drive that GT-4 from murica'
Add a boost controller and it will keep up with a subaru. If you aren't rallying the car put a road suspension on it and ditch the super strut. Now you have a fun street car.
22:47 My favourite part about the GT-Four is this. It's unique. I see about 15 of the same Subarus on the road everyday and they're good cars and I love Subarus, but they're just not really unique. I love the GT-Four because you don't see many of them.
I got a yellow st205 about a month ago now, needs some work cause I only payed £4k for it but it's such an awesome car. Like yourself I find myself just cruising at the speed limit just enjoying the ride. I'd been watching them for quite a few years and I nearly ended up getting a mk1 Audi TT cause they're dirt cheap and a similar sort of set up. Really glad I never.
Just got a ST 1995. Gonna do a GT4 conversion on it. Cuz this is underrated, the gste is pretty cheap even with the 5 speed trans. My only struggle would be to find the drivetrain
Between GT4 Celica, Evo and GT86 this may be my next car. Suspension issues are worry though to fix. feed back you should mention any problems the model has mechanically, (I know in this GT4 there was no servicing but you could investigate for a brief summary). I really love you descriptions of how cars drive. This GT4 sounds really exciting to drive. Yes car park 8n Essex analogy is how I thank about buying cars.
You don't have to drain the coolant to do the plugs :) and it's a charge cooler not a top mounted intercooler like the 185 , thanks for a nice vid mate !
So I can look to import a Celica GT4 in 2023. What % are left hand drive🇺🇸 I bought a 2000 Celica GT-S in early 2000 with a few gentle miles. It's been maintained, interior, leather seats, sunroof etc amazing. Stock but I recently stumbled on Celica YT videos, am dreaming about customizing.😎
I remember having to make the choice between a GT-Four and an MR2 Turbo GTS a few years back. Toughest decision of my life. Ended up going for the MR2, but I could have flipped a coin that day and picked either....
I'm also of the Gran Turismo generation that you reffer to in this video. I whole heartedly agree with your opinion of the future price of the GT4. The price will only go upwards, the ability for Americans to be able to import them will certainly bump the prices up, also my/our generation (I'm level 35 old) are now in a position where we can potentially afford to purchase a car that we lusted after when we were young. I was a little surprised that you made no reference to the Toyota MR2 (specifically the facelift version) which although not as powerful, is also one of those cars that I feel is rare now and will be going up in value. As always....great video. Just a shame about the shirt.
True, there are far more MR2's out there that haven't rusted away just yet. My personal favourite was a Nissan Pulsar (Sunny) GTI-R. A very left field car, but one that I would love to drive and possibly own.
Iiiiii... Love the st185 heh.. my parents used to have one, It was a bit maintenance heavy on the alternator for some reason so we ended up leaving it sitting over a while. So we scrapped it.. im a bit sad.
I would love to get the WRC version in red but of course they're rare and they only come in white last I knew. I really need this car in my life. I currently drive the USA version of the 6thgen Celica but I need more horse power and AWD. OH and a Turbo spooling up.
There is no big difference between WRC and normal one. Antilag output and something else. I mapped my GT4 JDM on 350hp (e85). I can tell you, it is a beast.
I love the look of that car but the st165 (the one that won the wrc championship) is the one I really like, only came across one in my hole life. BTW Jay your heroe cars look like the came straight out the Gran Turismo one, and for me those were the 427 Stingray and the grand sport stupidly tail happy as arcade it can get. Happy times!
No the ST205 definately did not win the title. Both ST165 and ST185 did. The ST205 was banned before it even got close, it was still a work in progress and they were using the ST185 still because they had more success with it
Think you are being a little harsh on the performance thing. Back in the day a VW Golf GTi was 150BHP or an 3.0 M3 with 280BHP but a lot heavier. Ofcourse a near stock one is not going to be as quick as something modern but a restomodded one correctly while still keeping it driveable can easily match modern machinary. That RS3 you mentioned didn't know which way i went at donnington a couple of months back. 17" wheels with 235 AD08R rubber, Tein Super Streets, Turbo Technics S148 Hybrid Turbo, Carbotech XP10 pads with grooved discs, 3" Exhaust all the way through, Link G4 ECU. Still drives well but is brought up to 21st century standards with 20th century weights. Mine has no ABS, airbags or sunroof and weighs 1360. Almost 300KG less than your Audi RS3 comparison but with 350BHP under the bonnet that still comes on boost at 3k all the way to the red line! Also yes the 4WD system is ancient but it does have a Torsen rear diff so of that 50% torque to the rear wheels it can still split that mechanically to each wheel. There are even options now for Quaife front and centre LSD's which bring a whole another level.
This one was basically stock, so it's my reference. The minute you start talking about modded cars it all goes out the window. Plus, if I believed everything I heard from track days a Fiesta ST would be faster than a Ferrari. A lot of the time it's driver skill as much as anything
Jay I've mentioned this to you before, but I have a 1jz GTE soarer if you're interested in seeing it.. Its no stock though, stock engine, manual converted, twin plate clutch, light flywheel, cusco 2way Clutch type Differential, cube shortshifter (Ie riflebolt), wide tires, 3inch turbo/back custom fabricated exhaust, bucket seats, ls400 big brakes, so it may be not the best representation of a stocker.. my friend has a bone stock manual 1jz soarer though, could be an interesting comparison.. I dunno, may be of interest to you :)
I assume this is an " old news " video, posted to keep us amused while you throw the hoolihan, way down south in Tennessee. Apparently, it's very easy to transfer the running gear of the GT Four into the original Mini. Please refer to Bad Obsession Motorsport for step by step easy instructions. You can manage it in a weekend. This video is very similar to Clovis' in-depth analysis of that diesel two cylinder roadroller. Oh, by the way, have I mentioned how brilliantly good Clovis' videos are❓They're quite the best thing 'JayEmm on Cars' has ever done. Get Clovis to do some more videos, they're great.👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
GT4 is a rare beast aka called a faff lol but projector lamps are dealers option extra not cheap loads you can do, a car that gives you a grin and yes you do fall in love with them as I did with my vert
I need to finish prepping my ST185 before these imports take all the parts stateside =P Toyota may have spun off Lexus, but the tech bled through to these cars I believe. They have a Toyota sports-luxury feel to them. Everything is smoooooooth; Interior, exterior, power, steering, ride, and comfort.
What are your thoughts on a base model Celica of this generation? I found a red one for sale for $3,400 and it only has a hundred thousand miles on it. It has the tan fabric interior and again I'm pretty sure it's the base model however it's at a decent price and the guy's done all the maintenance to it. It is a manual of course and I would be daily driving this car, after watching this video I'm kind of falling in love with the Celica
Go for it if she's fine and not battered up. And even if you have bigger budget, take her, they are really easy and cheap to fix. And its as fun as GT Four, just slower. 5th gen(st18) is also great, last gen to have pop up headlights, its also really curvy in design, even more underrated than st205. Mechanicly pretty much identical. Go for it once you checked if there wasnt some terrible accident with her, everything else like poor maintenence and moron owners who abused her - fixable. ST182 and st185(gtfour) of 5th gen has amazing front seats too with quite unique headrests.
It's really common on 90's cars when plastic body panels were in their early days for there to be a slight colour difference between the different materials.
I hope it stays underrated. Want the price to stay down on my dream car for a little while longer
ytrewq431 don’t hope and wish, buy one now and store it. The JDM car demand is so ridiculous right now hoping won’t be enough to keep the prices down!

Maybe “trumping” something should start to take a different meaning.....
Thoughts from a liberal american.
Besides that, beautiful car.
Nice shout out, and thank you for sharing.
your car looks great
A sixth gen Celica GT Four is a amazing Car 😍
Have had 35+ cars and this is my favourite, so much so I recently bought it back from the man I sold it to a few years ago... never selling again.

It's more remembered as the rally car that had the most ingenious cheat ever devised

I owned a ST182 but mine was a manual, I bloody loved that car, always drooled over the 185 and the 205.
K&E Photography I still have a 182. Drives like a grannies car then you suddenly slam your foot down and off you fly. Love it. And everything still works after 27 years. Amazing build quality.
*one of my favourite car* 😍
I just bought one of these cars a month ago after hunting for a really solid import in Canada (we have a 15 year import law so we can get them 10 years before the americans). It's a 1996 In Storm Grey, love the car. I definitely loved driving these cars in Gran Turismo 1 and 2, and that's what made me want a GT-Four so bad and I finally have one now! It needs a bit of love but it's going to be perfect in the years to come. Great review man! Keep it up!
Thanks!
I loved the Celica and I had to own one it became my dream car from playing the sega rally at the arcade against the delta hf integrale... Ended up owning a black one for 5yrs... Loved it... Would definitely own again.
I have a 102,000km 1994 GT4 and I absolutely love the thing! Get in touch if you ever want to know more or drive another!
Drop me a message on Jayemm89@gmail.com
It is reliable for everyday use? Also pushed hard?
my 1994 celica had over 300.000km on the clock, sold few years ago....miss her...
super solid car!
What a great video mate
Evora 400 owner and I have white 94 St205 WRC with full Recaro interior in States . Had for 15yrs in tuck away in storage . Getting a full refresh in coming years
You are super lucky
do you want to sell it ? Please email me Matt.leonardo1018@gmail.com
You literally own my two dream cars wtf
I too am of the grand turismo generation and that celica , the skyline , galant and Mitsubishi gto was best cars on first one cant remember if supra was on it though that was a longtime ago nice videos ima subscribe
I liked mine, love how the dash is all designed for the driver like a cockpit including the radio and heater controls just like the mk4 supra.
St205 was the car that got me into the car scene in the first place when I was growing up then I owned the 2L gt N/A model a couple of years ago and loved it
I very nearly bought one as a daily
@@JayEmmOnCars that's exactly what I did with mine until the front end got written off but still the most fun I've ever had in a car
I had the st185 carlos sainz. sold it for £2000 with full service history. I was the second owner. Dammmmmm. That was 2007. Now i sell nothing.
The more I looked at it while walking by everyday from school I loved it and now is my list to get 1 is super cool and used that celcica on rush rally 3 lol
Not forgotten here :)
I'm from the Juha Kankkunen generation... GT-Four ST205 is an amazing car!
Go on James treat your self! Great video bud 🙂
Thanks Ryan
Great video. Loved the narration. Went back and watched this after seeing the video of your purchase. Congtrats on getting one of your dream cars.
Cheers!
They truly are stunningly pretty cars aren't they...
Nice job mate.
I was thinking of getting these as a weekender. I barely do any driving so it’s not worth it. I’ve always loved these, great work.
Been seeing more videos made about the ST205 recently, making me miss my one, but glad to say that it was a dream car of mine and never regretted buying one when I could
Love your reviews, often cars that I can afford and you are down to earth with your presentation style.
Thanks Dylan
i love it...... i saw it, i want it, now ive driven it, i need it..... the one problem all of us celica owners face, its an addiction. i cant wait to be able to get one for myself. im absolutley in love with my st202, cant wait to 3sgte swap her, and to think im currently keeping my eyes peeled for a st182/5 and st162/5..... seriously, its an addiction
I certainly haven't forgotten
Quality car. Underrated yet almost iconic.
Im gutted I sold mine for £1800 only a few year ago but I just wanted a change and was becoming more aware of the cars weight and reluctance when turning into corners.
yayy, you re back..love the gt4, chargecooler..
Favorite review of yours yet!
I can't understand why the GT Four never has gotten that much love as other rally cars. I would prefer a GT Four over a STI or Evo any day :D
Hadena Gang | 派手なギャング same the body Work on a GT Four is so amazing to be hornest i Think it has the Best looking interior 😍
Indicators on the right always make roundabouts and junctions much easier and more fun! ;)
You can indicate off at the same time as downshifting!
James is in love!
Had an ST-204 5S-FE engine. Really nice suspension. Did a lot of work on it to get it running.
Lovely Jubbly, nice car and decent comontry.
Thanks Paul
Re-watching this and you did get that Lamborghini, and even more... :)
Cheers to you getting to drive that GT-4 from murica'
i want an s2k and gt4 celica. start the army as a mechanic in 36 days, s2k is £10k + and gt4s ~5-10k. theres hope for me yet :D
Lovely review! this and the Forseter STi keep drifting back into my mind...
Thanks!
The 94s are finally legal to import into the US. I want one. My first car was a 94 Celica.
Add a boost controller and it will keep up with a subaru. If you aren't rallying the car put a road suspension on it and ditch the super strut. Now you have a fun street car.
I have the ST202 GT version. Love it!!Great video, thanks.
great review of a fantastic car
22:47 My favourite part about the GT-Four is this. It's unique. I see about 15 of the same Subarus on the road everyday and they're good cars and I love Subarus, but they're just not really unique. I love the GT-Four because you don't see many of them.
Great relaxed review
Thanks!
Aww man... i understand. I drive a 1.8 version and its sooo good.
they tune just fine if you know what your doing , my st205 is close to 900hp at the fly and does 150 mph in the 1/4 mile ;)
So this is what the other guy from Shaun of the Dead is up to.
Fallen on hard times since Simon went to Hollywood and became besties with Tom Cruise
Lucky enough to have owned a st185 and st205 fast bullet proof 4wd ...when toymota dealer add mr2 gt4 and supra...to buy brand new..
Between GT4 Celica, Evo and GT86 this may be my next car. Suspension issues are worry though to fix. feed back you should mention any problems the model has mechanically,
(I know in this GT4 there was no servicing but you could investigate for a brief summary).
Cheers. You'll see I have my own now, inspired by driving this one!
@@JayEmmOnCars oh that's good news ! I've had 3 185 and still on my first 94 205 wrc atm welcome to the club!!
What made you choose mr2? Any regrets
The MR2 will never be the same as these as they were made in great quantities, although as you say their numbers are dropping fast
True, there are far more MR2's out there that haven't rusted away just yet.
My personal favourite was a Nissan Pulsar (Sunny) GTI-R. A very left field car, but one that I would love to drive and possibly own.
Mk2 MR2 numbers tend to half every year around November time when the UK weather turns ;-)
Iiiiii... Love the st185 heh.. my parents used to have one, It was a bit maintenance heavy on the alternator for some reason so we ended up leaving it sitting over a while. So we scrapped it.. im a bit sad.
Personally would choose this over any 90’s jdm.
Serious fan boy material for me
I have an st185 and am in the states... Believe me, I am already preparing to sell it and my 93 celica gts to buy a 205 next year lol
Joselo Aero my brother had one , fun little car . Then a few years later I had a 165 myself, grey I loved it .
The st165 did not win a wrc title. St185, and this car the st205 won. The st205 just had its title taken away
No the ST205 definately did not win the title. Both ST165 and ST185 did. The ST205 was banned before it even got close, it was still a work in progress and they were using the ST185 still because they had more success with it
These are one of my favourites, too, only sitting behind a mkII MR2 turbo(or V6 swap)
There's plenty of modding around the 3SGTE, though. You've gotta look to where else the engine was used, MR2 turbo modding is a big thing.
Loved my MR2 GTS ...even if it did try to kill me 🤣
Just keeping you on your toes man, making sure you weren't getting complacent :p
....have you ever noticed that thanks to its proportion the convertible version of this Celica gen was pretty good lookin car?
10mins in and slightly nonplussed with the video without knowing why - - - then James tells us...... it's the shirt! there's no LOUD SHIRT ! !
@@JayEmmOnCars I understand that completely. The base is fantastic though with a few tweaks here and there they become real weapons.
Drop me a line on Jayemm89@gmail.com- definitely would like to do something with that
i got a celica sx-r, cant wait till i can finally get my gt4
Any Celica of the T200 generation is lovely
Get Clovis to do some more videos, they're great.👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
MrKeyboardCommando "very easy" 😂 project binky is a life sentence 👍🤣
Don't discourage them, Lezard, you'll spoil the fun‼️😉😉😉
Easy? OK lol.
Outlaw. Bad Obsession is showing us just how easy it is. It's a piece of cake‼️🤥🤥🤥
@@MrKeyboardCommando hopefully they finish showing how easy by the time kids finish highschool.
GT4 is a rare beast aka called a faff lol but projector lamps are dealers option extra not cheap loads you can do, a car that gives you a grin and yes you do fall in love with them as I did with my vert
I need to finish prepping my ST185 before these imports take all the parts stateside =P
Toyota may have spun off Lexus, but the tech bled through to these cars I believe.
I have not driven one but they are really underrated cars, cool if they have been looked after
@@JayEmmOnCars thank you! I appreciate the quick response. I guess I'll have a look at it and see if it's worth it
Yeah cars of that age and type you really need to examine them as individuals
@@JayEmmOnCars for sure. Thanks again mate! You're doing a killer job
Nice car, quite rare on UK roads now-a-days. Is it me or is the shade of white on the front bumper a tiny bit off compared to the rest of the car?
It's really common on 90's cars when plastic body panels were in their early days for there to be a slight colour difference between the different materials.
Great man! would be ideal if you could test the ariel atom as well :)
I asked Ariel but they said no
Too bad, well the atom 4 is coming out soon so maybe they will say yes this time
...
Was wondering if this year had the antilag option built in..🤔
Not my cup of tea but I respect the car for what it is and it’s heritage in the WRC.
