This song brings me to tears every time I hear it. I cannot even sing it in church anymore because of my emotions. This rendition is no exception, as I am in tears writing this comment. As a retired emergency department/trauma nurse, I brought my faith and religion with me to work everyday. There were many times that I literally washed the feet of the poor and downtrodden because of the deplorable conditions they lived in. Similarly, good people get into trouble by no fault of their own. I was but a vehicle for God's love when I cared for patients. Thank you for placing this video online.
Beautiful! i came here because I'm critically ill; I have an incurable degenerative muscle disease. The Lord woke me up at 2:58 am playing this in my head.
May the Lord make a statement of peace with your healing. Don't give up hope pls. My mother and two sisters have an incurable rare genetic disease and I know they will be healed and walk again by God's special grace. So, pls don't give up hope....The Lord shall heal you too. Amen 🙏
This was played at my wedding in 2005 and then at my husband’s funeral 3 months ago. I The video shows up in RUclips and I feel like it’s my husband reaching out to me.
If it makes you cry... that's not a bad thing. It touches you that deeply. Best compliment you can pay God and the music that provides such emotion. Throw your hands in the air sing at the top of your lungs and cry God's got you wrapped up!
Whenever I hear this I think of my husband looking up and saying: "Here I am Lord" as he finished his tour in Vietnam and decided to go into the mission field in India. He spent 13 years there teaching the people he loved so much and planting churches and schools so they could go teach others.
Grace, I so appreciate your post. I served two tours in SW Asia (Iraq-Global War on Terrorism) and I was moved by your story related to your husband. I too, much like your husband, have accepted the Lord’s calling to be His servant. However, I have a somewhat different calling from your husband’s calling. I have a specific calling related supporting as well as engaging in the Partnership for Peace Program to 2nd world European countries. Our lord works in mysterious and compelling ways. Pat

Absolutely gorgeous arrangement. Raised Catholic, the song has been a part of my sacred music history. I was ordained an interfaith minister in St. John the Divine Cathedral years ago, and this song was included in the interfaith ceremony. This is just lovely.
This was a song at my Dads funeral. You all sang it amazingly!!! And your musical accompaniment was beautiful!!! This arrangement is so powerful!!!! I cried at my Dads funeral when this song was sung, and I sobbed now, 7 years later. I am a firm believer that music should invoke feelings, and everyone involved should be pleased they touched someone’s life, even if just for 7min & 28sec. Thank you, for sharing your talents!!! 💕
How amazing and beautiful!! I remember this song from when I was a child in parochial school; I remember all of the variations and interpretations over the years, whether the piece was song by a congregation, church choir or small group. It just brings back so many memories and hopes. This beautiful performance and the video presentation have that same effect of lifting up and giving hope and encouragement. Bravo! "Here I Am, Lord"
I, the Lord of sea and sky
I have heard my people cry
All who dwell in dark and sin
My hand will save
I, who made the stars of night
I will make their darkness bright
Who will bear my light to them?
Whom shall I send?
Here I am, Lord. Is it I, Lord?
I have heard you calling in the night
I will go, Lord, if you lead me
I will hold your people in my heart
I, the Lord of snow and rain
I have borne my people's pain
I have wept for love of them
They turn away
I will break their hearts of stone
Give them hearts for love alone
Who will speak my word to them
Whom shall I send?
Here I am, Lord. Is it I, Lord?
I have heard you calling in the night
I will go, Lord, if you lead me
I will hold your people in my heart
I, the Lord of wind and flame
I will tend the poor and lame
I will set a feast for them
My hand will save
Finest bread I will provide
'Til their hearts be satisfied
I will give my life to them
Whom shall I send?
Here I am, Lord. Is it I, Lord?
I have heard you calling in the night
I will go, Lord, if you lead me
I will hold your people in my heart
