I have always loved Annie Lennox voice. There is something so surreal about it. It really takes you to another place. I would be nervous too if I was performing in front of someone that I adored. Heck when I auditioned for All State choir the first time I broke out into hives. So I understand. I have always loved sting and also when he was with The Police. He must have been so proud when he saw Annie Lennox performing his song Fragile. Another amazing analysis videos Fil.

Maria Callas. I'd recommend picking one of the tracks from this concert in 1954 when she was on good form. ruclips.net/video/LFPNYFEA5p0/видео.html Many thanks for all you do. Patrick

This video actually backs up what I was telling my husband this afternoon. Yeah well I went on a bit of a “vocal pontification” bender this arvo 😜 Artists like Annie and Sting (as a bloody good examples) actually have exceptional vocal techniques in their own right. Right now? At this point in time? With pitch correction or whatever they do now (this include messing around with LIVE or recorded vocals), there are no “exceptional” voices out there that make me go WOW because they don’t need to be. They don’t need much of a technique because computers can do it for them 😴🙄

    • @jjswin
      @jjswin 2 года назад

I think Adele/Sam Smith have cracking, exceptional voice. Can’t think of anyone who sounds like Sam Smith - Sam’s transition between registers is insane. I understand their tone isn’t for everyone, though. Also James Morrison has a gorgeous voice!
Has @WingsOfPegasus ever done Sam Smith (studio vs live) - Writing’s On The Wall might be a good one.

Sting and Annie both have good voices, but these styles of music aren't my favorites. I like Annie's voice in 'Sweet Dreams are Made of This' and I like Sting's voice in 'Every Breath You Take' But I like those songs.
I am a child of the 70s so I like classic rock. When I went to concerts, the bands had all gone through the hoops of playing live and working their way up, so they sounded the same live as they did on recordings. I think Matchbox 20 is another band that's as good live as they are on recordings. Rob Thomas is a great songwriter and I love his voice. Could you maybe do an analysis on them? I love the live performance of 'Back to Good'. I don't know how to post links on my phone. There is another live video of Rob Thomas at the Songwriters' Hall of Fame.

I am thankful I found your U-Tube spammery, and love everything so far, I have subscribed, (but give me a minute to be a donor). My question(s) 'as in multiples') to you my friend is this: What would you like to do for your desire in the music field (1), and what is it you have been searching for (2), and have you found it, are you satisfied where you are, do you need to move forward (3)? Does the dream and search continue? (not a question, we all know that answer). I offered, (and the offer still stands), to collaborate with you, on some music that will kill the industry with combined writing, singing, and I stand to give you full copywrites to anything that comes from this. Sincerely, Markus,

I LOVE ANNIE LENNOX! She’s awesome!
Also The Beatles tribute performance of Fool on the Hill with Dave Stewart Cameo. Her voice was warmed up better on that plus the song is more difficult for her to sing. She also like Freddie likes to use her breath to create softer vocals and then rips it to belt it out! Keep an eye on her daughter Lola, she duets with Annie and did several during the pandemic.

Btw, if you go back to the first couple of albums by the Eurythmics, or their uncredited appearance on a Throbbing Gristle album, I believe that you will find that Annie had that hard attack on many more songs than she did later on. On the most recent recordings of Annie's voice that I have heard, it sounds like she has blown out her high end. I'd call it The Joni Mitchell Effect but I don't know whether Annie smokes or not. Lemmy abused his vocal cords for a lifetime and still sang to damn near the very end.

Hi. This may not be the place for this request, but could you maybe take a look at some of Meat Loaf? Maybe a little tribute piece? Thank you!

There are negative reviews on RUclips, and there are positive ones. I prefer the positive ones, with a few negative ones thrown in. Phil (Fil?), I think you have a good proportion. Slag the Autotuners, for sure, but I really like watching you liking a piece, like you do here.

I kind of feel a bit uncomfortable mentioning it, but if you're looking for another autotune video (if you haven't done it already), have you heard the Toto Falling Inbetween tracks? That live version of Hold The Line would be a particularly good candidate.

It would be interesting to see the same vocalist and song analyzed in their youth verses in their elder years. I know range and tone both change as we age. We also learn or change technic or expression as our perspective may change.

Annie Lennox has one of the most spellbinding voices in all of contemporary music. And Sting ain't that bad either :-) Thanks Fil for another brilliant analysis.

That face that he pulls during her performance isn't offense that she's messing up his song, it's emotional involvement in the tragedy which she's expressing with her voice.

I would love it if you would analyze Sara Bareilles. To me she is the total package. Great voice, great songwriting. She records, plays piano, does Broadway. Her song “She Used To Be Mine” is so heart wrenching. She can really tell a story.

I'd really like it if you did an autotune breakdown on "Dirty Loops" Jonah Nilsson clearly is a competent singer so I'd like to see the waveforms.

Her voice almost rings instead of resonating. A clear, ethereal sound that supplies emotion in a much different way than we usually experience. It has to be incredibly difficult to sing this way. It sounds effortless, but actually requires tremendous skill, strength and technique to pull off.

I was thinking the same. It's actually easier to sing with vibrato than without.

A very nice job, professional and detailed. For full disclosure, I must admit that despite their sonic excellence, neither vocalist is on my list of favourite singers.
A singer who I would love to see you dissect, one for whom there are many live versions available to compare the album version against, is Leonard Cohen (as long as the chosen song is NOT "Hallelujah." Leonard himself would thank you from the other side).

I wonder if its because she is playing an instrument at the same time which she does not normally do. Fantastic voice though.
