It's missing the last 2 sentences. "a thousand waters-and the deep and dank tarn at my feet closed sullenly and silently over the fragments of the "House of User""
Am in love with this audio ! The reader's voice is so beautiful, his reading is so clear and easy to grasp and his tone and performance conveys the creepiness of the words perfectly ! I would listen to him reading any other book !
This book was assigned for english class and I was like "how the heck am I supposed to understand this-" and I was trying to understand it by siri reading it to me and then I found this... I think its safe to say that this reading saved my english grade quite literally because my test is on this book. I shared this recording and it helped my friends as well. Thank you so much for posting you saved me! =D
@@paramaghosh3585 it was actually his cousin if that makes it worse. I have heard tho that he did it to protect her from another man who was actually interested in her and they actually had a sibling relationship but idk how true that is so take it with a grain of salt.
I have been looking for another excellent narrator of ghost/gothic stories. I have one British narrator Simon Stanhope. Now I've finally found the other. Yourself. Thank You SO much. So beautifully narrated and soft and very absorbing..
Its proprietor, Roderick Usher, had been one of my boon companions in boyhood … yet I really knew little of my friend, and I told him: “I don't know who you are. I don't know what you want…. I can tell you I don't have money. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills …”
Bravo! I sped up the recording a little because I'm a fast reader and 46 minutes felt a bit much for me, but I surprisingly really enjoyed this poem. I was not looking forward to it, as being homework for my English class, but I felt myself be so absorbed in the ending... I haven't read many truly good horrors written, not filmed, but this is definitely one of the best.
I was on "blue...fly" blotter acid.......at "limelight" during illegal period........and i saw visions of Poe-!!.... And this story came to mind.......its hauntingly vivacious!!!!......."wee barin"!!!!
Hey! What's good? Saw you were a fan of Usher and thought you might dig my music. Check out my new single on my channel. Let me know what you think! Hope you enjoy. -Zach

I have a test on this story in third period today. Thank you for this audio! I love Poe’s work, and your voice is beautiful.
I got a 5 paged hw assignment due today and I have no free time til the class
I feel that Poe is mostly describing himself when he describes the house and is childhood friend
His childhood friend that he married when she was 13 and he was 26 😳

I love Simon.
Not sure why the recording cuts off the last sentence. Other than that, it is a nearly flawless reading of Poe's story.
Maybe for copyright reasons. I think it’s Liam neeson
I shouldn’t have smoked and come here ..
It's MAGICAL to experience Poe while the brain buzzes from THC.

Does anyone know who the narrator is? He’s really good.
Thanks for this! Great reading of story.
And extraordinarily accurate and precise reading of classic gothic literature.
With good expression for those who can't pick up the tone when reading it themselves
I can't explain but this is me right now.
Nice audio.

@ Sarah Leffert: We don't know the name of the narrator. He is never mentioned.
Brilliantly written like all of Edgar Allan Poe's short story novelas.
It suuuucks to have to annotate all this and no one can prove me wrong
Listen to this first, then read it. Makes more sense.
This is an amazing reading.
