I loved how Nerissa was more than just a villain for the girls, but a mirror, a cautionary tale and possible future, showing that even the guardians aren’t free of being corrupted. It could happen to any of them if they lost control of their ambitions. Morality is a very thin thread, and they could lose that balance. How scary is that?

It's really disappointing that the collaboration between the creators of W.i.t.c.h. and Marvel Comics didn't happen.
See back in the mid to late 2010 when Disney bought Marvel Comics they actually tried to use Marvel Comics to not only redistributed W.i.t.c.h. but even tried to make W.i.t.c.h. part of the Marvel Universe.
The creators of W.i.t.c.h. being fans of Marvel Comics wanted the opportunity to have crossovers with iconic Marvel superheroes, while Disney wanted to basically continue make money from W.i.t.c.h. which was (and frankly still is) a popular franchise, as well as try to salvage relations with the creators of W.i.t.c.h. following series of debacles in the past.
However, the writers of W.i.t.c.h. had trouble coordinating with Marvel on how to go about the integration process. Also a lot of disagreements and creative difference between the writers ultimately lead to the whole integration not happening.

    • @shawnwarrynn8609
      @shawnwarrynn8609 2 года назад +6

This is really sad because it really would have been cool to see W.i.t.c.h. crossover with Marvel Comic characters/legends like Spider Man, Doctor Strange, the X-MEN, The Avengers, and the Fantastic Four.
Some proposed ideas include making the previous Guardians C.H.K.Y.N. having some history with Charles Xavier and Magneto. Which frankly sounds awesome.
Apparently, Nerissa was meant to have formed a bond with Magneto due to their shared bad experiences as Nerissa's grandparents were planned on being Slovenian Partisans who were sent to concentration camps for opposing Nazi Germany and Magneto was a Holocaust Survivor.
As well as making the guardians related to the other Marvel characters. For example, Will and the Vandams would have been related to Norman and Harry Osborne; Cornelia and the Hales would have been related to Emma Frost; and Hay Lin and her family would have been related to The Mandarin. I'm not exactly sure who they were planning to make Irma and Taranee related to but some ideas included them being related to or full on members of Apocalypse's family Clan Akkaba.

I always loved how Nerissa would manipulate both her enemies and her allies, like how she pretended that she cared about helping characters like the tracker only to dismiss them once they'd outlived their usefulness towards her goal. Loved the fakeout where she believes she's screwed over the others that were trapped in the heart of Kandraka and taking over the world with Caleb and his father at her side only for it to be revealled that everyone else had escaped while she was left behind with nothing but her delusions. It would've been nice to see a third season and to see them adapt their new guardian forms but I guess it's not going to happen seeing as the second season aired in 2006 and we're near the end of 2021. Be kind of cool if another studio decided to resurrect this series someday.

Even when she absorbed the other guardians and had the power of two hearts and the guardians within her staff, she still never reached the sense of threat level that she had before forming her team and becoming younger lookin ant-guardians.

Narissa was pretty good, but my all time favorite was Shagon. M for Mercy cemented him in my mind as a villain who could have been a big bad on par with Cedric and Narissa if he hadn't been stuck as a henchman. In one episode he did more damage to the guardians, both physically and psychologically, than the other two combined on his own. When he reappeared in W for Witch, I was genuinely terrified for a second, since Shagon was not only being powered by the heart of earth but also could potentially take Narissa's heart without her permission from being a creature born from not only Matt's hate, but also her own hatred for Kandrakar and, deep down, herself.

Have you ever considered making a "how powerful is" video about the characters from Winx or Witch? Considering your considerable knowledge of either franchise I think you could do the characters justice. You could even take the opportunity to collab with a content creator with a skillset in mathematics to calculate things like speed, reaction time, and kinetic energy output. It would also allow you to break down the connections between the characters powers and their personalities/ how their characters are written.

I loved WITCH. I wished it didn’t end so soon. Nerissa was a villain I was excited for in the TV Show. In the comics, Nerissa terrified me. I will say she did not have that same scare factor in the TV Show. What made her so fearsome in the comics was she seemed stripped of all humanity and became only capable of rage and hatred. She was a symbol of fear for Kandrakar, a dark cloud upon its pristine majesty (home girl literally had her own insignia which was left out of the show.) To me she was purer evil than Phobos ever was. She looked like the kind of villain who was unhinged and could snap at any moment while also looking calm and collected. In the show however, the one thing that terrified me about her was her patience and that she was a master strategist. She knew her friends so deeply that she could calculate every move until they sold their wills to her. She knew what to do to get a young queen to give up her power. And she counted on the ego of an impatient and power hungry man to ultimately be his doom while she worked in the shadows to perfect her master plan. Yes she was power hungry too but she was far more careful and collected than Phobos was. She impressed me in the tv show, but it’s only in the comic book medium where I was truly afraid of her. She remained a symbol of fear for Kandrakar and they really played on that. Her main strengths in the show were her mental capabilities but her downfall was that she was ultimately human (and I also think it made her defeat less WOW) But either way, Nerissa was a great villain and others should learn from her.

Just like Will and Irma, Nerissa and Cassidy were best friends, but her power hunger made her commit such a horrible act.
One good thing that came out of Nerissa's revenge was that she revived Cassidy, at least she gave her a chance to live again after stealing 40 years from her life.

    • @spaceparrot8702

I doubt she would go to Sheffield. Mainly because when Cassidy died, they were already older than the current guardians. The former guardians all seem to be in their mid-sixties or so and Nerissa told Cassidy it's been 40 yeras since her death. So they would have been in their early twenties when Cassidy died and so she would physically be that age after resurrection. Also after they got their young-again makeovers, they seemed older in their civil outfits than the current guardians.

It was going to be an episode of the cancelled Team Atlantis cartoon, and was performed as an audio play by the cast at one of the Gatherings of the Gargoyles. Turns out the Praying Gargoyle statue that Demona used in "Hunter's Moon" was an Atlantean creation.

there was a planned season 3&4 but it got unfairly canceled. (this is the divergence point where the series no longer would follow the comic book seires. season 3 was suppose to be about them trying to hide their powers from government agents who were possessed by a cursed book. ( the book would have taken there loves one. but in the battle Corniela's sister starts to get her powers back as the heart of earth. this triggers a major shift in power and reveals the secret. Taranee's mother and Will's get hit and gain magical abilities. so does irma's father. corniela's father does too. and hay lin's boyfriend join in the magic. Season 4 is back to the main plot. Civil war in kandacar. even the guardians are divided. but instead of phobos who it was in the book was Nerissa,

I love witch but for me winx reigns supreme because
I still can’t forget Disney for accusing iginio to steel the idea of witch which is ironic cause winx started in the 20th century so yeah
But witch is for grownup teenagers more because of the plot twists
While winx was for every age until the Nickelodeon doom
But winx is waaaaay better for me because of the artstyle and the plot, the girls and everything plus transformations
    Though it’s only my opinion
Even though I grew up watching both winx and witch
Thank god I was with the cinelume dub since I was younger
Even though as a fan I watched every dub and the Italian and the French version like a hundred times

When I was akid I was kinda in love and at the same time terrified of Nerrissa...
Now as an adult I am more terrified. This is a woman obsessed by power, and a genius strategist. She was so deadset on uniting the universe under her rule that she sacrificed her former guardians , bound them by using their weakenesses against them.
I havent read the comics to see how she was there but here I am assuming she used to be good friends with them and betraying them like that is just pure evil imo.

I'll be honest, I've never watched W.I.T.C.H., mostly because I was focused on what they showed on TV and no channel I had broadcasted it. Anyways, your videos and the comments did really explain why the show had (and still has) a dedicated and strong fanbase who believes they deserved more (and from what I saw, that's something I would have to agree).
Anyways, THIS! is what I want for a villain in a magical girls (or any where there needs to be an evil enemy). I need someone conniving and manipulative with their own recent strength be an actual threat! Oh! And a good and sensible backstory! The antagonist is ALWAYS one of the reasons why a show is a hit or not!!

@@comicbookreviewer4856 Actually, the creators of W.i.t.c.h. and Marvel tried to work together to integrate W.i.t.c.h. into the Marvel Universe.

      @shawnwarrynn8609 2 года назад +2

@@comicbookreviewer4856 This is really sad because it really would be cool to see W.i.t.c.h. crossover with Marvel Comic characters/legends like Spider Man, Doctor Strange, the X-MEN, The Avengers, and the Fantastic Four.
Some proposed ideas include making the previous Guardians C.H.K.Y.N. having some history with Charles Xavier and Magneto. Which frankly sounds awesome.
Apparently Nerissa was meant to have formed a bond with Magneto due to their shared bad experiences as Nerissa's grandparents were planned on being Slovenian Partisans who were sent to concentration camps for opposing Nazi Germany and Magneto was a Holocaust Survivor.
They even went as far as to make the guardians related to the other Marvel characters.
