Kangar... Another royal city. Well done. I went there once to go to the Royal museum. I couldn't find it. Definitely quiet but well worth a detour off the main road. Great limestone outcrops nearby.
Thanks for a great insight into some of Malaysia's less visited towns. Needless to say your style of presentation is a welcome change from the usual over the top travel vlogs.

Let's be honest Malaysia has more Royals than you can shake a stick at. No wonder every other town is Royal.

I do hate the over the top travel vlogs! I actually saw a guy doing a vlog on the train coming into Thailand and I was cringing. He was saying how excited and how beautiful the experience was of being on a train!!! Bleurghhhh
I got excited by trying to put my head out the window lol

@@olderbackpacker Sadly as the few much more successful than me vloggers that I know always tell me. You have to play the RUclips game. But, I just can’t bring myself to do the happy sing songy voice and say that literally everything is awesome. It’s also why I have mostly stopped making videos of me trying local food. People get angry when I say the food is awful, instead of following the RUclips script and claiming everything is the best ever. (that’s going to come back and bite me on the ass in two days when I do just that!)

Great Malaysia series.Know the feeling always a little sad to leave a place you enjoyed. Looking forward to the Thailand content. Always looking for off the beaten path places I haven't visited yet in the land of smiles and I haven't been in the south yet. Enjoy the holidays.

Thank you so much for the super like :) I know that Thailand has some surprising towns where no backpackers go to. I found lots of them earlier this year, they’re in my Thailand playlist! Trat was a really nice place

I worked in Kangar for a year in 93, sadly it does not appear to have changed for the better. It appears to have lost its heritage, many of the historic buildings have been replaced with ugly concrete structures.

Sounds like Kangar has lost its way with its own history? :(

Hope you enjoy your time in Thailand. Hat yai floating market is overrated so do go around the town instead of traveling a distance to that place.

Just to add 1358 on the Chief Minister's building is a reference to the Islamic calendar. Their year zero is the birth of the Prophet. The current year is 1446. Makes sense when you think about it. You have to love difference in this increasingly homogenised world.

    • @arahman98100

Year 0.. Not the birth of the Prophet (PBUH) but his Emigration from Mecca to Medina when he was about 53 years old.
