- This is why Discover credit cards are so popular. How do Discover credit cards compare to credit cards from other companies?
Discover is not just a major credit card company but also a credit card network. There seems to be a lot of people that have a Discover credit card. Although they may not be the biggest credit card company or credit card network, Discover is still a popular credit card.
They have solid credit cards such as the Discover it Cash Back card and the Discover it Student Cash Back Card. However, there are not too many options after that. In this video I go over why Discover credit cards are popular. Although they are common, Discover still has their pitfalls which I also cover.

Do you or someone you know have a Discover card?
Something this content creator wont want you to know in this video .STAY AWAY FROM DISCOVER STAY AWAY FROM DISCOVER
Do you want to know why, besides being only allowed to take $500 from an ATM in 24 hours, something you wont find out until you're in need of emergency cash like I discovered today when broken down in the middle of nowhere with a mechanic that only wanted cash .So be careful, there's a reason they call it Discover, you discover as you go.
My first credit card I opened was the Discover card 22 years ago with the credit limit of $200, I am still using it and loving it . Great video Chase thanks for sharing.
That is awesome! 🔥 I;m sure your credit card collection has significantly grown since then! Thank you for watching 🤙🏼

I have 15 credit cards, including the very exclusive American Express Centurion Black card. Yet, I still love my Discover It card that I got when I was starting out in the world. Very simple, basic card with no fluff. Not all of us want complicated things in our lives. I am a simple person who appreciates the simplicity and top notch customer service provided by Discover.
Can't tell if you're bragging or trying to one-up everybody.
Doubt he has the centurion and is watching a discover video lol
There is always “that guy”
A lot of haters in here lmao.
I don't think 15 credit cards is simplicity.
First credit card out of high school many years ago. Iolani represent! Great review Chase.
Ayeeee there we go! 😂 💳 Iolani no ka oi!
Actually, Amex does also have other banks issuing credit cards using their network. Banco Popular of Puerto Rico issues one such card is their "The Black Card" that uses Amex network, not to be confused with the actual black card, aka Centurion card. BPPR also issues two other amex cards, their Amex Indigo and their Dual card which is two cards in one, a visa and an amex card.
Haha many many people I know have owned the Discover It Cash-Back Cards! The perfect college credit card haha. Great video as always Chase!
i knew it! hahahah 🤣 Discover is all over college campuses. Thank you for watching Matt 🤙🏽
I got a discover from seeing the commercials from sports events. I actually like it
marketing works! 😅 But the most important thing is that you like it John! 🙏🏽 🔥
Discover has the best customer service. I put them beside Amex. The other big banks may have better cards but nowhere the customer service of Discover.
That is great to know 👏🏽 huge W for Discover
First card ever. Both daughters also have it. OUTSTANDING customer service is a big reason I still love it.
Thats great to hear 🔥 It truly is a valuable starter card
Discover offers 7 cards but there’s really only 3. And they’re all just diff variations of the main 3. The chrome, cashback, and miles cards are all they offer. Waiting for a refresh. Give us a 2% unlimited on the chrome and make the cashback card 5% back on one category of your choosing. With 1.5% unlimited anywhere else.
Trueee. many of their cards are slight repeats of others
New immigrant here with no credit history. I applied for Chase and Discovery. I was approved immediately with Discovery but denied by Chase. Discovery are pretty for first timer
Congratulations! 🔥 keep being responsible with ur credit and you can get with Chase someday!
10% cash back quarterly categories first year is insane, especially when the PayPal/Amazon quarters start to roll around, and you can get the NHL version the year after to keep it rolling. Customer service is S tier. Love Discover
That 1st year cash back match IS really nice Evan 👏🏽
I applied in branch for the Chase Freedom Unlimited card and the computer rejected me. I then applied for a Discover card online and I was approved. I’ve had the credit card for one year now and I just got my first year cash back match from them and I also got a credit line increase. I also have the Capital One savor card which is Mastercard. I used the Capital One in Australia because Mastercard is more widely accepted than Discover despite both the credit cards not charging a foreign transaction fee.
Which one do you like more?
Thanks for your Explanation(Explicación,I'm From P. R.,Speak Spanish, Español). It was very useful to me! I will try Discover because I don't have any Credit History!! So, Thanks again!!
Thank you for watching! 🙏🏽 I am glad that it was helpful.
I have many credit cards, it is my 3rd card after Bank of America Customized Cash and Chase Freedom Flex, I think I am just getting free referring money of $100 and only spend on 5% Rotating categories don't forget they have a match policy, so that is basically 10% back at end of the year of the first year.
I have the discover it cash back and got approved for discover chrome.
ooo very nice! 👏🏼 congratulations! 🍾🎉
Hint: Discover CC are accepted on a "few" reputable Trade Line Supply websites.
Conclusion: We should not ignore elephant ivory tusks within the room called, aka "Passive income". The card in the safe is still loyal.
Amex issues both their own credit cards and also thru other banks.
Visa and MasterCard do not "use banks to issue their credit cards". The banks, use the Visa or MasterCard networks to issue their credit (and debit and prepaid) cards. You don't know the different roles between the banks and the networks.
thank you for the clarification
In some countries like south afirca american express does use banks like nedbank
I had no idea. Thank you for sharing! 🤙🏼
i have a confusing question. i just watched your 5 credit cards you need in 2022. you named different cards like citi double cash, freedom flex, csp, amex gold. but my question is what’s better? that 5 list variety or having a trifecta? like i want to get the chase trifecta but i’d feel like i’d need to commit to it to max the value of the chase points but is the trifecta better or is it better to have a variety?
I would say get the chase trifecta as early as you can but in the long run you want a variety of credit cards 🤷🏽♂️ the good thing about the trifecta is that all 3 cards only cost you $95 / year to carry. so even if you dont use them at all, you aren't wasting a ton of money. I hope that helps.
I have a couple questions can I please get some answers cause Google ain’t helping so much :(
1.)like as a first credit card or debit card is discover the best?
2.) should I have the same bank my whole life or after a couple of years or so should I switch banks?
3.) does any credit/debit cards can be use to buy a house or a car or does it have to be a certain card?
4.)how do I know when I need to pay back the bank, will they send mail or a message saying that it’s the time of the year to pay my taxes??
5.) if I travel to another country can I still use my credit card there if there’s a bank there that my credit card is on
6.) does any atm work like does it have to be a specific atm that only accept certain cards
7.) which bank is the best for me as someone who’s getting their first card
1. Discover credit card
2. You can switch banks as many times as you like. I would suggest always having a HYSA. But you can switch banks or at least transfer your money between banks to always have your money in the highest interest rate bank. You can even have multiple bank accounts open at the same time. For example I have a Chase and Sofi account. I keep my money in the SoFi account because of the higher interest rate. However I deposit or withdraw money from my Chase account because they have ATMS and branches to go to. I would then electronically transfer my money between my Chase and SoFi accounts.
3. No you can't buy a house directly using a credit or debit card. Technically you could buy a car using a credit or debit card if the dealership allows it
4. You do not pay taxes to the bank. Not sure what fees you would be paying the bank? Is it for a loan? If so, you can set up reminders within your bank account. For taxes, you just have to set reminders yourself or sign up for tax software that sends emails / notifications or hire an accountant.
5. Your bank does not need to physically have a location in that country to work. Credit card acceptance is based on credit card networks (Amex, Visa, Mastercard, Discover, etc.) and on banks. It depends on that merchant in the country if they accept certain credit card networks or not.
6. Most banks have no fee when using their own brand ATMs. For example a Chase atm with a Chase debit card. However there is a fee to use an ATM from a different bank from your debit card. Although there are certain debit cards that cover this fee.
7. First debit card does not really matter which bank you go with. Most likely it will be with whichever bank you decide to leave your money in. For credit cards I would suggest getting a Discover or Chase card first.
@@ChaseYokoyama thank you for answering my questions (I’m sorry if some of them sounded dumb or anything because I don’t know much about credit cards and all that type of stuff) Thank you!!!❤️
@@Christin919 dont even worry about it. we have all been there before! Props to you for watching videos on these topics AND asking questions. 👏🏽 im excited for your financial journey
can i used this to purchase a plaine ticket international?
Yes you can use your Discover card internationally when it is accepted.
Credit one issues Amex cards
We dont have that in Singapore. No one will ever hear about Discover It here.
oooo fair enough Muhammad 😬 its mainly popular stateside.
Nope I have never used or known anyone who uses a Discover credit card. Hell! I have been using credit cards since 1992 at the age of 18 and have never paid a single cent to use them. Visa is the only one I have ever used.
Visa is pretty damn solid 👏🏽 But im surprised not even Mastercard or Amex.
Discover cards are still not super easy to get to start your credit journey it's better to look at other companies like kickoff or step or self credit card and then when you build up enough credit history then apply a discover or American Express
I started with a security card from them. It works!
Great video! My first credit card was a discover it student cash back. I love it and would recommend Discover as anyone's first credit card with my eyes closed
Thanks for sharing Dionisio! 🤙🏽 You are absolutely correct, it's a great starter card
Discover card is the fairest and not a bunch of penny-pinching rats like the rest
Discover is a great beginner card and issuer for sure
Great explanation
Glad you liked it
Who wants to have more than three credit cards? Only a bragadocious person wants a gazillion credit cards so they can pull out their Amex Gold trying to impress some girl who thinks you're a idiot. Be smart. Discover cash back. 5% rotating categories. Nuff said.
Is it the greatest? Absolutely not.
Is the 5% rotating categories worth $0 annual fee? Absolutely
Obviously with chases 5/24 rule and other “better perk” cards out there I’d choose those.
However the discover is what I consider a sock drawer card that gets pulled out on occasion for the category spend and then put back in the drawer when finished.
Well said Joe 👍🏽 It doesn't have to be the star of the show (and I dont think it is).
Discover is NOT popular, with merchants. It is the least accepted credit card and with their higher than average interest rates, they are geared towards the poor. Those with real incomes do not carry Discover.
Real incomes as in 💁🏽♀️🤔?
The poor huh😂😂
Right after watching this video ,I applied for one and was approved!!! Thanks Bro for all the information ( I'm in the process of rebuilding my credit)Sincerely Mark
yayyyy 🔥 It always makes me happy hearing stories like this! Thank you so much for watching and sharing. But more importantly, CONGRATULATIONS! 🌟 Keep up the solid work Mark!
@@ChaseYokoyama Thanks Chase :)
Drop this card as soon as you can. Discover card is the worst card in this world. If you dispute any amounts, they never call you back. They always reject you. They treat you like shit. This is the worst and plenty of cards and you can get your cards from they give you 2 to 4% on your purchases. It doesn’t matter your student. It doesn’t matter who you are. You don’t need a high credit line. This is the worst credit card in this world. Listen to me. I’m six years old. I know them.
Why everyone and their mom own this card! lmfao
Hahahah glad you liked that one 😂
Get rid of your discover cards they are taking your amendment away
?
❤❤❤
give me that!
okay!
The Discover Cash Back Student card was my first credit card. Got approved with absolutely zero history and they’ve been so amazing to me. The 24/7 customer service is amazing.
Discover is 🔥
