I was actually against the OP for cancelling the wedding before talking to her fiancé. I was also against John for for immediately, jumping to his mother's defense, without asking OP her version of what happened first. 27:37 At this point OP did dodge a bullet with that MIL; she would constantly be pushing for money and a better work role for her son.
Good afternoon from frozen Western Pennsylvania! Wind chills in the negative numbers here today. It’s a great day to stay in, cuddle with my cat, and listen to some text stories!
I don't really feel bad for John to be honest. Before he knew the truth of what his mother said he was quite harshly defending her and even after he read the messages he still accused OP of being a hypocrite for rightfully defending her parents from his mothers attacks. He mentioned the "splashing out on the bottle of 30 year old Johnnie Walker" and all of the future meals and trips they could take so I think the gold digger shimmer was dancing in his eyes just as much as his mothers, he just hid it a little better. He was desperately calling and messaging OP so that he didn't miss his meal ticket not out of genuine love or respect.
John’s mother was so cold on Erin just because her father was married three times. His first wife died from cancer, the second didn’t love him, and he’s now happy with the third, who gave birth to Erin. However, as soon as Mrs. Sinclair found out just how wealthy Erin’s father was, she thought she could get some of that wealth. Mrs. Sinclair destroyed everything, especially for her son.
John is getting punished for something his mother did. As much as I feel bad for him, I totally understand Op for wanting to break things off, once your soon to be partner's family tries anything, you wouldn't to be trapped in such a family much less marriage where there is ridicule, gossip and abuse. No one would be able to stand for it.
When the breakup happened I would of blocked future mil immediately, but if I didn't I would of hung up with her statement of spreading the wealth. Nothing like listening to an entitled witch unnecessarily. Enough with the red flags.......run for your life...
Helen you do know that Erin's dad's money doesn't belong to you, right? Yes most parents want the best for their kid's but GOOD parents do not meddle in their fully grown kids personal lives, us parents don't have a say anymore when our kids become adults. A daughter in law is not obligated to make sure her husbands family is rolling in money. I'm sick of mother in laws and sister in laws always saying you married into my family so you have to do what I say, well your son and brother married into his wives family so does that way of thinking apply to him? judging by these rotten people it probably doesn't because of the double standard.
Interesting video because both sides have very fair points. In the end I think both sides dodged a bullet here because both sides are insufferable. The MIL-to-be for being so disrespectful, but the protagonist is a piece of work as well for punishing her boyfriend for something his mother did: that's just as despicable.
@@satoshimaebara7190 You're just seeing what you want to see. Fact: she called off the wedding (and dumped him) right within the MIL comvo, she didn't even _bother_ to tell her bf face to face that the wedding was off, but dropped that on his mom. So obviously that creates tension with the guy and obviously he is now torn between sides because she made him do that. She even told him to ask his mother why the wedding was off, didn't give him any chance what so ever. How arrogant can you be? Like I said: you're only seeing what you want to see here.
While I'm totally with Erin about her reaction when Helen insulted her parents - and made it even worse later on by showing her greed -, I don't understand her attitude towards John. She immediately broke off their relationship during her texting with his mother, without talking to him first and giving him a chance at all. Like John said, she punished him for his mother's behaviour he didn't even know about! Once he read his mom's texts, he distanced himself from her, even blocked her (Erin didn't!); he did not act like a mom's boy here. But Erin is like the equivalent by behaving like a "dad's girl" (the problem: Momma's boy has a negative meaning, daddy's girl a positive one being kinda cute). She admitted to putting her love to her dad over the love to a future husband, which I think is somewhat unhealthy and immature. Simon and John respected each other; he even suggested she should forgive him because "people make mistakes" - only John didn't do anything wrong, his mother did! Yes, it would be nice and easier to have a good relationship with your in-laws of course; but I assume John was ready to disown his mom for the sake of being happy with Erin. I can't see a hint that John thinks the same way as Helen and wants to take advantage of Simon's wealth; and he is not responsible for her avarice. Erin was way too ready to sacrifice their love imho, without differentiating who was the true problem here...
A woman that is only after someone else's money and the girl isn't even married to her son is nothing more then a gold digger and doesn't care about anyone else except what she can get out of it for herself. I still can't believe that people like that are real in life and is in every state and country. If the mother to the ex wants money so bad maybe she should get a damn JOB.
Can’t remember which brand it was, but they had a 45 year old whiskey / whisky . Difference in the word is because there’s Scottish and Irish varieties
I get people being curious about the in-laws/family Dynamics especially when there is an obvious age difference between the couple but there is a nicer way to approach it. My parents were 20 years apart & it was my dad’s second marriage & they didn’t even get married until I was 12 so I’ve had to deal with questions & comments my whole life. Believe me when I say that when I was a kid & went out with my parents it wasn’t unusual for us to get weird looks & nasty comments. It does give thicker skin & be open to explaining to those that have at least some tact in how they ask questions. Even though it wasn’t such a conservative time when I was growing up I still ran across those a$$holes that wanted to give be crap about being born before my parents married, thankfully that doesn’t happen as much anymore. I come from a family where large age gaps in couples in the norm, & many have divorces in their past, it’s pretty normal now a days.
But the thing is you have to deal with the harassment until your in laws die, even if you go no contact you have to deal with possible escalation from them as well, and that's even if your partner agrees with cutting them off in the first place. Do you really want to deal with having to look over your shoulder or deal with possible PR nightmares from people crap talking you?
It varies what people can take and how bad the harassment is. I've heard some BAD stories before. like mil attempting to assault OP or the coconut oil story where MIL actually gets their kid killed by refusing to believe they have an allergy. I hope your in laws are just annoying and not insane and I hope you and your partner both stand united.@@Not_brainwashed
I was about to say Erin overreacted big time, but after discovering she was the Tiffany Trump of her family, it makes a lot more sense; John may have been great, but if Nancy continued with her crap it would eventually make the relationship horrible. Better for Erin to nip that in the nuts while she could.
Havent finished the story first but she could have at least had a conversation with her fiance or at least break up with him face to face. He cant help what his mother does. I dont really like the OP.
This was stupid for every reason John said what the hell did that have to do with him. Somehow you guys made the supposedly good lady the bad guy. He didn't take his mother's side once she showed him the text he did the right thing. She has the right to marry who she wants to but that reason was stupid.
If he were to suddenly call off the wedding, she'd want an explanation. And since it was his mother and not him that caused her to do that, she at least owes him an explanation.
I agree. That’s my only problem with her not only calling off the wedding without talking to him but also telling he MIL that she doesn’t want to talk to him again. She was punishing him because she was angry at his mother.
20:14 the dad is right why is his daughter just trying to creep her way back into her parents house without as much as an explanation as to why she and her boyfriend aren’t getting married. I would’ve thought she had done something suspicious.
I agree with those who disagree. The authors should have be a little more thoughtful about this in the end, Op claims want you to be with someone who loves her for what she is in respects her parents. Her boyfriend did that, only the mother didn’t, but she was fine, was breaking up with his mother, so what’s the OPs problem? It’s hard, to like a story, where the OP is that arrogant, and as someone mentioned it to you before, insufferable, everyone loses in this little text, drama.
Finally! A protagonist that has a backbone from the start!! 🎉
She did the right thing for herself. The red flag with him is how he downplayed what his mother did.
He didn’t downplay when he found out what his mom did he told her he’d fix it he dodged and she gaslit him (the fiancé)
@@sistahspeaks9816who gaslit who?
The ending is true. Insulting OP is one thing, but insulting the parents is completely unforgivable.
I was actually against the OP for cancelling the wedding before talking to her fiancé. I was also against John for for immediately, jumping to his mother's defense, without asking OP her version of what happened first.

I thought it was a overreaction too... buuuutttt then the mil kept putting he foot in her own mouth
Very good story, I would love to hear more stories from you.
Good morning to you as well from a -4 degrees Tennessee lol , We are in a deep freeze here . Hope everyone has a beautiful day.
Good afternoon from Western New York. Stay warm and what part of Tennessee? I lived there east of Knoxville for 20 years.
Good morning from Hawaii. This is the coldest, rainiest weather in a very long time.
This is a great story.

It actually broke freezing in Kansas today! Thank Mother Nature!😊 we could actually get out and do some shopping.

Helen is quick to make assumptions about the parents of her sons fiancee.
Helen has different standards when there is money involved.
If my mother was insulted like that, lets just say blood will spill...
If he’s making excuses for his mommy, she needs to run.

Good morning, everyone from a very cold Alabama
Good morning from snowy Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada 🤗💖🇨🇦🥶 Fortunately, it will not last long 🤗💖🇨🇦
Good Afternoon, from a very cold Birmingham, England 🏴
At that point Erin would rather not be married at all if there people like John and Helen exists in this world.
"I'm not JUST after your father's fortune..." WTF?
MIL sounds greedy. Selfish and rude. Goodby
If she didn't have wriiten proof of what the mom said he would have blamed the women. He is after her money.
33:35 wait how did she blame him and say he has no respect for her and her family she’s a jerk
I dont know why she didnt tell her parents sbout this vile women. Im sure they would have put her in her place. Dam you should have told him .
