Specifically, the bluesy, slide parts are done by Ry Cooder. Once Ralph switches into the classically inspired playing, then it’s Steve playing both parts.
I met him years ago and I told him I had to shake the hand of the guy that beat Steve Vai at guitar and he told me he didn't play a note of anything in this movie
....you really must see the movie to understand, but Ralph Machio's plays the part of a Julliard trained classically trained guitar prodigy, but is obsessed with the blues. The final piece is classical guitar
The guitar Steve Vai is playing is currently on display at the Hard Rock Casino in Biloxi Mississippi. Every time I see a show there, I make sure to stop and see that guitar.
This movie back in 1986 was the reason I put down my saxophone and trumpet from high school band and bought a guitar. Feeling bad blues still haunts me to this day.
In order to capture the full magnitude of the guitar battle you have to start at the crossroads its to important to ignore the final Ralph reverted back to classical because it was what he was studying in the movie.
I thought y'all might like this and I'm glad you did That's what it's all about after all other than next 10-12 somewhere around there be kind of emotional especially the last one I think it's the last one for those who have lost fur kids and fur friends
Travis and Susie, this guy was Satan. And the guy who pulled up in the car before that was a demon. And the movie is based off the legend of Robert Johnson. The legend was that Johnson went to the Crossroads and made a deal with the devil to become the greatest blues player ever. Then his friend Willie Brown went and made a deal as well at the Crossroads. And now he's trying to go back and get his soul back and Ralph Machio is helping him. Incase you havent looked up this info already about the movie. 😁
Ry Cooder did the musical score for the movie. Steve Vai did the entire "Head Cuttin' Duel", both parts. Ralph Machio learned to play a bit for the movie part, but is not a musician
you should check out the album Crossroads and also read the credits. Ry Cooder has done live gigs along with Terry Evans and a few others doing some of the songs of the album on of my favs is Down In Mississippi. another song ry and Terry do together on tour is Working On A Chain Gang
Ralph Macchio can't really play, his parts were a combination of what Ry Cooder played which was the blues stuff and Steve Vai. Vai said the hardest thing was the parts where Jack Butler failed because he wasn't convincing the director he was loosing bad enough...Vqi hadn't become a household name prior to this film... Tgis and Him joining the David Lee Roth band around rhe same time put Vau in the stratosphere of popularity.
Yep..based around the great Robert Johnson...sold his soul to the devil in return for his talent on the guitar...i know..ridiculous...but still a great myth
Specifically, the bluesy, slide parts are done by Ry Cooder.
Once Ralph switches into the classically inspired playing, then it’s Steve playing both parts.
Yes watch the whole movie‼️👌It stands the test of time. I've rewatched it many times actually✌️
Yesss!! Love this movie!! It's a classic!!!
This is actually a pretty damn good movie
Freakin excellent film, & this scene is absolutely sick🔥😎🤘🔥
I met him years ago and I told him I had to shake the hand of the guy that beat Steve Vai at guitar and he told me he didn't play a note of anything in this movie
Vai played both parts. But to fake playing bad at the end where he loses is pure talent. 🔥🔥🔥🎸🤘✌️
....you really must see the movie to understand, but Ralph Machio's plays the part of a Julliard trained classically trained guitar prodigy, but is obsessed with the blues. The final piece is classical guitar
Had this on VHS… great movie ending all around worth watching….Crossroads.
Ralph said at a convention panel that he still has the Fender Telecaster.
Crossroads is about a musician making a deal with the Devil for his soul
Best Guitar 🎸 Battle In A Movie 🎥
The guitar Steve Vai is playing is currently on display at the Hard Rock Casino in Biloxi Mississippi. Every time I see a show there, I make sure to stop and see that guitar.
This ending ties in the beginning of the movie when the kid (Ralph Macchio) is at a classical music school.
Crossroads is an awesome film 👍
Fantastic film 🌞🎥🎶😎🙌👍
Bad Horsie is such a brilliant riff. I'm glad that's what he started with.
Steve Vai, is an incredible guitarist !
A great movie.
She nailed the crane kick! Steve Vai played All the Guitar In this . .❤😊
I seen Steve a few years ago. He showed part of the duel scene on a screen and played along with it a little
loved this movie when it came out, i tried to buy it here in Australia but it wasn't available so i bought it from the U.S.
Saw this when it came out, great flick.
true story of Robert Jothson was blue guitar in 1920s
That look that Steve gives Ralph when Ralph is done with his classical piece, is the epitome of the "you dick" face!!!😂😂
Спасибо ребята.
Круто
This movie back in 1986 was the reason I put down my saxophone and trumpet from high school band and bought a guitar. Feeling bad blues still haunts me to this day.
The slide guitar parts were done by RY COODER. He played a lot of Ralph's parts in the movie. Ralph could play, just not that good.
Steve Vai played both sides of the guitar dual.
NO. Ry Cooder played the other guitar. Great soundtrack album released.
no he didn't
IIRC, Vai played both sides of the classical part, but Ry Cooder plays Ralph's blues parts.
Steve Vai played both sides of the guitar duel in the 1986 film Crossroads Ry Cooder recorded the slide parts and produced the soundtrack
Nah I played steve vai's part
Very cool
I love you guys!😊❤
Ry Cooper played all the blues parts
Ry Cooder.
How I love screaming guitars !
Ry Codder taught Macchio the fingerings, but he didn’t actually play the parts
Arlen Roth taught Machio
@@Anselmiankey Arlen Roth is the forgotten hero of the movie
talant and practice will always beat bravado
In order to capture the full magnitude of the guitar battle you have to start at the crossroads its to important to ignore the final Ralph reverted back to classical because it was what he was studying in the movie.
The movie is v really good
I thought y'all might like this and I'm glad you did That's what it's all about after all other than next 10-12 somewhere around there be kind of emotional especially the last one I think it's the last one for those who have lost fur kids and fur friends

All the guitar playing in the battle was Stevie Vai on both teams
Ry Cooder did the musical score for the movie. Steve Vai did the entire "Head Cuttin' Duel", both parts. Ralph Machio learned to play a bit for the movie part, but is not a musician
and apparently that is actually Ralph's Tele.
you should check out the album Crossroads and also read the credits. Ry Cooder has done live gigs along with Terry Evans and a few others doing some of the songs of the album on of my favs is Down In Mississippi. another song ry and Terry do together on tour is Working On A Chain Gang
The movie is pretty good, Ralph's slide parts is done by Roy Cooder
First here today, yo! Much luv from NOLA!!!
yes, watch the movie
sold his soul to the Devil for fame and Fortune
Watch the whole movie it is Ralph machios best movie
I originally saw this movie in 1986. The guitar battle was the only memorable thing about this movie.
*It's Blues, Soul is another genre, although the genre Blues has also a lot of soul.* ⬅🎸🔊🎵🤔
No he's not playing that guitar he's mimicking
The crossroads don't look like that now
Watch it, you'll enjoy it.
Was that Diddy in the black suit?
LOL! I'm sure he made some kind of deal. Guy seems like just the type to give no thought to his soul whatsoever.
Ralph Macchio can't really play, his parts were a combination of what Ry Cooder played which was the blues stuff and Steve Vai. Unfortunately it is pointless when you can't see anything.
Yep..based around the great Robert Johnson...sold his soul to the devil in return for his talent on the guitar...i know..ridiculous...but still a great myth
No he doesn't play...both parts are done by Steve... :)
Steve via said it was hard for him to do the scene where he screws up knowing he could play it .
