I agree. I rewatched this a few days ago, and actually he and Clare Danes really play the parts of lovestruck teenagers well. They really understood what was needed of them in the film, all that innocence and passion rolled into a forbidden marriage, it was really convincing. Mind you, the acting in this was great all around, there wasn’t anyone who I’d want replaced if I was the director!
