Hamare udaipur se Ahmedabad line via Himatnagar line ka 2 saal se k Electrification ka kaam pura nahi huva hai .aur 1saal me bhi pura nahi hoga.ise kahete hai kachve wala vikash.
100% electrification is not needed, electrification should be done as per feasibility and not as a thumb rule. There are lines which have very little traffic those lines won't repay the cost of electrification (and associated interest) due to very high initial cost of electrification. That's the reason why even European countries which have money but import fuel, don't go for 100% electrification. It's about financial feasibility.
Electrification saves a huge amount of money because India has coal but no fuel. It’s not about pollution or something but more about saving cash. And a lot of Diesel engines nowadays are being used for different purposes like coach shunting. So we are not loosing the engines either.
@@shridam3874 Thats true, but only where the traffic frequency is high. Becuse Electrification has very high initial cost. If the frequency is not High it wont repay it's cost. That's the reason why even European countries which have money but import fuel, don't go for 100% electrificaion. It's not one rule will apply for every line.
@ I do agree with you. Electrification on busy routes do helps in getting back the investment or atleast makes sense. And it’s true European countries do the same. However you missed some of the points. In India, many trains do start from lesser crowd cities connecting to a major city or route. Before, a lot of time get wasted changing the engines and all that. With electrification time is saved which is crucial while providing better connectivity since railways aim isn’t to save the money anyway but reduce its expenses. Secondly, after the recent Ukraine war, until a few months ago the fuel prices were pretty high. Since you gave the example of European countries, most rail companies which are private in Europe where the ticket prices are quite high, like £70-200 pounds just from Birmingham to London or 300 -500 pounds from London to Paris, the companies started to make losses due to high fuel prices. The main aim to to reduce its operating and maintenance expenses along with import bill. India has a high density population in many cities and we hope it reduces its costs soon. Some lines would never repay the investment but it’s more about connectivity and saving time. Don’t forget that there is a junction at every 50 kms - 75 kms in India and multiple diesel units are places for shunting and emergency purposes. Also for DFC, strong diesel engines are used. Diesel engines will stay but not part of mainstream travel. That’s all.
@shridam3874 I am talking about the lines which hardly run any long distance trains, these are not important lines to isolated places not on route with important cities. There is hardly any traffic on these lines. It's like thinking every line is worth the money, which is not true in the financial sense. You Missed the point that reducing opex is not the only point in financial feasibility, if your capex is very high your low opex becomes non viable. It's just like running an electric car is very cheap but it it's initial coat is very high. So if your running is very low, even at a fraction of running cost the electric car is not feasible for you. Thinking that electric car is cheap for 100% of users will be financially wrong
@ I understand your view lol. Your point is definitely correct. However, very rarely I have seen routes with really less people and even then, guess would save some time instead of changing engines lol.
To change the running schedule and save time, time table ko update karna padega. Jo mostly ab tak shuru bhi nahin hua hai. This is some lackluster work on part of railways. I believe with increase of top speed to 130, the avg speed of mail/express can go up by 3 to 6-7 kmph over the entire journey leading to saving of around 2-4 hours on a journey of 1500 - 1800 kms, but the saving of time will be mostly visible for trains with less stoppages.
Sirf environmental factors nahi dekhe gaye h, diesel ka cost railway ke liye bohot jyada tha. Plus next generation trains ke liye electrification zaruri tha.
