Man this takes me back to the good ol netbook days, love it. Wish it was just a little cheaper since N100 mini PCs come in around 100 bucks, looks good though. Thanks for another based review bro!
These routinely go on sale for as low as $260. I picked mine up a while ago for $288. It came in perfect shape with no issues, and it's been my go to travel laptop for quite some time. You can even game on it, as long as you stick to older titles. If you're looking for portable and cheap, with great build quality, this is a great choice. If you need an active stylus, though, you need to buy the earlier Minibook X with the 10.8" display. Unfortunately, that version comes with a crappier Celeron than the N100.
Hello Andrew, I am very happy to see your tests. I am about to buy one in addition to my Galaxy book 4 pro 360. This mini PC will be useful in my little sling bag when I do lots of small repairs and travel. The 16-inch PC is perfect for the office but not for traveling. On the other hand, I have heard a lot of reports of reliability problems with this little machine, and an absent after-sales service
I'm all for a mini book that you can easily take out on the road and will get the job done at the end of the day without having to lug around a big heavy laptop. I thought the webcam and built in mics are good. The audio from the speakers is indeed average but that's to be expected when you're only paying $350. Obviously the manufacturer had to cut some corners. The lack of an SD card reader, USB-A, HDMI and USB 4 might be a turnoff to some but again for $350 Chuwi had to cut corners in order to bring down the price. In conclusion, The Chuwi MiniBook X N100 is not bad if you're willing to overlook the obvious. Great video Andrew once again my friend!! 👍😁
@@ThangTran-tg6rm The snapdragon x plus is about half that in quantity. That will would be fine for me. I'd even pay a little premium for the longer battery life and fewer heat issues.
mine sadly lasted about 2 weeks. not sure if it was because I left it on the charge for a week but just died...wouldn't turn back on or anything. at least I got to return it for a full refund 👌
I've seen a few comments here that the quality of the minibook is a hit or miss. I'm still tempted to buy one just to experience using the niche successor to the netbook (along with another Chuwi product that features a screen that has a swivel hinge). But, how much will you recommend these 2 niche ultra small laptops?
I got one of these for $260 recently. A good deal for the price. I needed a compact device with a full sized OS and I got one. The only downside for me is poor battery life of only few hours but I was aware of it before buying so I got myself a power bank as well. I recommend.
awesome video Andrew. I would love to see this form factor with the new AMD processor, snapdragon or even the return of the macbook 12" uff that would be perfect as a ultraportable device. GREAT VIDEO!
I would like to buy one as well however I am worried about how long it will last me considering some horror stories some people are posting on the officical reddit...
Bought it last year upon launch. It was the first N100 processor, which is great for the market it intends. Build quality is top notch and second to none and for the price it is really a steal.
thank you for the video! not a lot of talking, but facts, facts, facts. very good. i also bought the Chuwi MiniBook X N100. and i am very satisfied. tip: chuwi often has special offers, like now. i think of all chinese manufacturers, chuwi is no worse than any other chinese manufacturer.
Bought a Chuwi tablet last year. Barely a month after I got it, it just started rebooting endlessly and won't charge properly. Never gonna entertain cheapass Chinese tech ever again.
Automatic Point Drops for this laptop on the MAJOR false Advertising. I FREAKIN Despise that!. They show pictures of this Laptop on Amazon with a SIGNIFICANTLY thinner and more beutiful looking Bezel....and then you recieve what looks like trash compared to the Photo. Not saying the laptop itself is not ultimately worth it....but People should not be decived. what else are they not being honest about?
Not really, a lot of people used to travelling could find so much use a laptop this size. Large enough for office tasks, small enough to be easily pocketable.
Did 45C on bottom was a bit high for a active cooled low power intel processor 😅? And strangly the hotspot wasnt the processor posioon, but the bend of the heatpipe
rather slow, it i small at 2lbs but for $350 you can buy a lot of decent 13"-14" windows machines now no? could be 3 to 3.5lbs though. I actually lug at 2.7lb XPS-13 at times when I need a second machine that runs Windows. This would be lighter but also much slower and I think it would annoy me even as a second machine.
Honestly bro, why buy this when retailers are discounting laptops with back to school l. I saw a ho envy on sale for $400 at bestbuy better than this ngl
@@KisameSempai yes but it’s a struggle also. Very light tasks yes. I hate my surface go 2 because it’s just so slow. That’s a small device too and around 2lb with the kb I think. I tried it but slowness and small screen for chrome use was annoying enough. I am spoiled on snappy web browser responses. It’s slower than a VMware windows 11 inside of a MacBook. Air m3

Yep, I also picked one up for under $300, shipping and taxes included.

Perfect review! Very interesting device with a lot of advantages over the current MacBooks. I'm very tempted to buy one!
I'd like to see one of these with a snapdragon x processor.
Cheaper Snapdragon X 8-core models coming soon
With battery life often being a drawback on these units (because of small batteries) a Snapdragon CPU seems like a no-brainer.
Could buy one with snap dragon too
In your dream lol. The chip itself selling from Qualcomm to manufacturers is already around 300$ = the whole Chuwi laptop 😂

I just got the freebook n100 from chuwi and is basically the same thing. I’m loving it it handles all my basic needs!
how is it so far?
@@JustANormDude it’s great! 1 month in and no problems. Still works pretty fast almost no lag issues. The picture is great! Definitely worth it!
One thing to mention is the severe issues Chuwi seem to have with quality assurance. Don't buy this one expecting it to last much more than a year.
Mine did have a scratch on the lid I noticed when I took it out of the box

Big warning on the amazon pages, "Frequently Retuned Item".
Mine came with a defective wifi card so I have an expensive typewriter now.
Buy a good usb-c charger. I use a freebook as my daily driver.
I suggested this one on the last mini laptop video, crazy. Awesome little laptop.

Oops Scratch 😓 Oh Just wondering What's the Battery Life running an external 5TB harddrive please?
I would have to test that
i'm turn between this one and the gpd pocket 3
That pen has recently been discontinued sadly, the only other pen they offer on their website doesn't work with the MiniBook X

is this N100 in the celeron family?
Yes
Yes, but nothing like the crappy celerons of old. It's a quad-core, 12th-gen, super-efficient chip. Great for what it is.
I find this product to be a very niche product

the pen is a capacitive universal pen
so no need to buy from Chuwi
because you can use OEM cheaper universal pen
I got the pen and yes it is capacitive and it's absolutely useless I just tested and then threw it away after 5 minutes.
Don’t buy it. I bought one and the wifi doesn’t work at all. Chuwi offers no support at all.
How long did it take for the wi-fi to go out?
