Thank you for this video! Very helpful. One thing to note about internships is that most require you to be an undergraduate or graduate student (at least in the U.S.), so people end up pursuing another degree for that reason.
That's a good point! Here in Canada, many people also do internships after getting a post-graduate degree/certificate which lasts 1-2 years, so it's a smaller investment (but yes, that itself would require an undergraduate degree). Thanks for chipping in!
No Ok, jokes aside. Still no. I want to fucus on R&D which itself requires skills and knowlege, which can only be aquire from University. Regarding intership or networking. University recourses gives straight and directed path towards it and networking becomes more easier. For context: I plan to do my Master in Molecular Life science with focus towards renewable biomaterials. I genuinely love natural science and lab work. So yes, Master is required for me. Also - I live in Europe, there education is either free kr cheap.
I already have a couple of bachelor's degrees and I don't need another degree. I'm thinking of going back to school to earn a certificate in the philosophy of religion. I don't need it for my career, but it is subject that I'm interested in and would like to learn more about. I could study this on my own, but I think a school setting will provide me with helpful feedback pertaining to my ideas.
This is a great video! just a thought, most of the internships here in the usa require you to be in school (usually enrolled in a specific major at a university). Lack of experience is a huge obstacle for a lot of people when trying to find a new job in a new career. I took 3 google certificates earlier this year and am now working on transitioning into another field from the one I studied in school.
Good point! As an adult one could study in a post-graduate certificate for a year (we have those in Canada, I’m not sure if there are the same in the US?) and close it off with an internship. Interesting about the google certificates, thanks for sharing that! I saw many ads of that and wondered how good they are. Seems to have worked for you, congrats!
Hello. Great video with a lot of projections really. I m currently considering a master degree in Ireland, as a bridge to work there. But after talking to people and this video, I ll definitely start considering pro certifications related to specific jobs to do so. More convenient and less costly.
So true, yeah ideally it can be a good option to transition to another career by having a part-time job in that new industry (if you have a full-time job in the industry you want to leave). This way you are learning, getting paid rather than paying, & have a chance to see if you actually enjoy the daily work 👍🏻 Being 32 years old, this is a really helpful video & gave me so much clarity. Thank you!!
I found the best way to learn is learning by doing instead of going back to school. Even working as intern for a month is better than half year at school because of the intensity the complexity of real problems is far much better subject to learn.
Thank you very much for your wishes. Yes, it's more of a slow burn, but I believe that by creating and offering content that is useful and possibly helps other people, views will find their ways sooner or later. Thanks for being part of the journey!
Well. I agree. Mostly or almost. Again. We are talking about non-regulated fields. And that makes large sense. In law or in finance if you reach certain career point, you are to be educated. (Or to know something and even to be taken on an internship) And you will simply not understand things people suppose you to have known und explain to the others. I liked the idea of internship and starting a business. But the other point here is that you won’t get a well-paid job, unless you have an honored and acknowledge degree.
Hello, I’m back again haha. I left a comment on another video of yours years ago. But I just wanted to share that now I’m clearer on my career goal. Previously I shared being interested in environmental science just for the sake of learning. But I have realized that I have been really passionate about making sustainable/circular biomaterials. And actually working in the R&D of the materials/products. All of these require intensive education and training within the field. And with my social sciences degree almost no master’s program will accept me into a biotech related masters. I’ve gotten into a local university (it's going to be their first batch for this program) for human and environmental biology which can allow me to specialise in biotech for my masters. But it is a liberal arts program so it’ll have lots of humanities and social sciences courses tied in too. And, I’ll have to spend 4 years all over again for the second bachelors because of local education policies. And that does worry me, like I could be earning in the meantime. But I also feel like this is the only chance I’ll get to study another bachelor’s. I’d just be expected to grow up and move on once I’m past my thirties and I’d not be able to switch my field. For context I come from quite a conservative family.
Happy to hear you found a good path forward! It does sound like a long time, but if you are certain that's what you want to do, then enjoy the process! Hopefully, you get the chance to gather some related work experience to, earn some money, so once you're finished with the program you can get a job quickly! I understand your worry about needing to be decided on your career now. The truth is though even past your thirties it is possible to change careers, fields. It may even be necessary, as your interests change over time. In any case, wishing you all the best!
Thanks so much for your reply! I do hope to find some kind of part-time remote job so that I can earn some money. It surely is possible to change fields later on. But in my context, women often don't have complete freedom with what they get to do with their lives, it'll always be someone like your father, uncle, husband who'll be approving/dissaproving your decisions. It is tough to battle through it. In foresight, I just feel like once I'm married I won't really have the chance to do another Bachelor's (or maybe I will have the chance but I don't want to take that risk since I don't know for sure). So although a second Bachelor's right now isn't what I'd ideally like to do, I feel like I won't have a chance to do so in the future especially since it requires quite a lot of time.@@MultipleCareers
Hey..hi..Thank you for your channel..was looking for a channel for non technical jobs ,and with non technical graduates..your channel niche looks similar , expecting more videos..♥️ from India
I hope it helps to hear that many, or most people are somewhat lost. Just start with something, and I hope that you'll find something suitable for you soon!
I completed my bachelors degree this year but I am not happy with my overall GPA. I was not in the best place mentally during college either so I am not happy with my performance irrespective of my GPA. The country I finished my bachelors in does not pay very well for the field I have chosen. I wanted to apply for a masters degree next year but now I'm looking to apply for a second bachelors degree in the same field in a school in the USA where there is more potential in terms of salary and opportunities for my chosen field. What would you suggest?
It depends on your end goal. If your end goal is to access more opportunities, then that can be a plan. Before doing that, however, I'd suggest to find other ways to directly get into the job market without studying a full 3-4 bachelor's program. All the best!
@@MultipleCareers i have my bachelors degree in mechanical engineering but no work experience till now..i might apply for masters degree in 2024-3 and my reason is someday i will be paid higher salary, after crossing 40s i want be able to do masters even if i want to...i want your opinion on this please..
Can this video also apply to someone who cannot afford to go to college? And hasn’t taken Bachelors degree yet? And it’s been years. I’m trying to help someone who is going through a lot lately and he is 27 years old.
It depends. First the person needs to get clarity on what they want to achieve in their career. Then work backward and see what options there are to achieve it. While one needs a degree to become a rocket scientist, one doesn't need a degree to become a successful graphic designer or author.
1. Certificates are inferior compare to full degrees, plus you will compete with people who have more varied skills and knowlege from they bachelo/Master degrees 2. I hope you have enouth willpower and determination to not quit you online course + don't get angry then 3 months long programme didin't provided you with 60k job 3. Lol, good luck getting one, majority of interships favours collage/uni students and someone who already with a degree 4. Super risky, with no proper managment 5. If you don't have enouth understanding of business marketing, its quick way to lose money 6. OK, what's just a total nonsence
Why doesn’t this have more likes??!! This video is so good thank you 🙏🏾
Thanks so much! That's okay, I'm happy you liked it!

This is what fulfillment means to me, making content that makes an impact on individuals' lives. Thank you!
Really very informative I really liked the certificate course idea over master's degree!
Glad to hear that, all the best for whatever you have planned!

Another great video . So tired of people acting as if getting a degree is a guarantee of a financially stable career or the road to riches...smh.
That's true, a degree can be a useful tool, but depends on what the person wants to achieve.

for promotion before my retirement 5 years from now
I am surprised that with such great content you dont have more subscribers and more "views". I wish your channel growth and success as you continue 🙂

That's right, there's the rule, and then there's the exception. Which way people go often depends on their risk-tolerance and ambition.

Thanks for the recognition! People are to stuck on getting a formal degree. One doesn't need a bunch of degrees to succeed or be fulfilled in life.
