When i first heard about opera gx village i thought it was some kind of internet flash game that you can play in opera gx and have that pixelated 2D graphics camera POV from up top kind of style, where you can play in real time and gather a group of other players and create your village or town from resources provided in the land and you can also raid or form an alliance with other villages. So the whole thing would be kinda like r/place but you have your own character and you can decide to maybe join a big streamer or any internet content creator's town or village and it would either be total chaos or it would work out just fine.

Well shet the way things are going they would be build up very quick
the ""stay"" you can win is literally just a 2 day weekend trip in what is likely to still be a half-finished new build property. To do what? Play games on what is essentially a public compute? 6th-8th of May in Europe, enough time to arrive unpack, have dinner, go to bed then get up and pack before leaving the next day. Not even during peak holiday months in Europe either so expect rain and most seasonal stuff to be closed.
I can't tell if this is real or not. They have a website and the website is advertised on the "speed dial" of opera so there is a possibility that they're serious about this.

What I could see happening is tons of gamers sign up, they get accepted, they go to the village and everything’s all fun, but after a few days things start turning, weird. Some people are reporting weird noises in the woods, strange movement in the woods, and voices calling their names. When the people try to report it the supervisors of the village tell them that it’s nothing and they shouldn’t be worried.
After that the next few days are normal, people are gaming, streaming, and just having a good time, but one of the village members tunes into a stream and starts noticing something weird in the background. It’s just inches away from the window (which is opened) and it looks like it’s watching the streamer, so the person decides to type in the chat “hey look at your window behind you, there’s something out there looking at you” the streamer looks at the comment, looks up at the steam, and turns around to see something move away from the window the moment they turn around. The streamer decides to go to the window to check it out. They look around and don’t notice anything so they look at the stream and say everything is alright, but before they could go back to streaming something with long hands grabs them and pulls them through the small window, brutalizing their body in the process.

As a gamer and someone who loves the outdoors (especially mountains) the irony of making homes for gamers who will be indoors most of the time surrounded by beautiful outdoors, is not lost on me
Honestly if I won this, I'd most likely be spending the two days outside. I don't see the point of going to a place like this, only to sit in a overly bright house and play games.
I guess if I won, I'd want to do IRL streams with the equipment, of the area's I'd be visiting in nature. But I'm not a gamer, my PC doesn't play games anymore, crashes when I try.

Imagine hearing gamers swearing loudly in the middle of the night while you try to get some sleep. Plus, the expenses and delivery of necessities will be a pain. The rgb lights will probably blind me faster than the sun. My eyes hates flashy, colorful lights.
Too much lighting for me honestly. My gaming chamber (bedroom) is just dimly lit, from the light of a cheap foot long lava lamp that gives off a blue accented green color. Also got my air conditioning to prevent the room from being a sauna. That's it honestly. For movie nights, I'll turn off the lamp so that it's just the tv light. The only time I've ever used my bedroom lights were for getting dressed after a shower, or if I can't find where I dropped something
