- TEAM SGG PATREON / somegadgetguy Google I/O is here! I just finished the keynote, and I have a LOT of thoughts. We're seeing some fun demonstrations of Gemini services. New ways to help people sort and organize their information are always welcome, but with more AI in search, how do we deal with concerns about website traffic eroding?

12:21 A keynote for shareholders?
13:25 Did you watch the keynote this year?
#google #googleio #gemini - Наука
Yup. It looked like a meeting to appease shareholders.
Google/pixel has the best form of spam call prevention on the planet...seeing them use AI to listen out for key phrases and mid convo using that info to informed people something is a scam is a feature I'm very excited about.
With respect to music, back in 2011, I was telling people that the recording industry should develop a system that tags the stems for all of the music in their catalogue measure by measure with metadata. Then make the stems available for purchase at the retail level. The metadata would allow them to track in real time how people were remixing, reusing, and deploying published creative content. This would also allow them to meter and gauge just how much should be paid in royalties if the finished product was sold commercially and met the requirements for such royalty payments as well. People didn't understand what I was talking about back then. Now they've missed the boat as that data has been turned into vector databases and used in AI training for this new variation on digitally created music.
Yes, I think I see your concern: Google is not anymore just delivering information, it's sampling it. At pretty small levels.
It's what all this IA really is, appart all the cool words: it's a sampler. With different access levels (to a certain type of files, or original info) that it's allowed to sample and sell as original. It's not surprising that they showed famous people linked to rap and hip hop.
My other concern is accuracy of the result. GIGO or results limited to what Google (or others) wants us to receive.
Im glad to see this channel growing and getting a sizable amount of subscribers. Its long deserved.
I think they should start paying creators when their content is used. They have data in Search Console.
I don’t use Google products, other than Android itself. The search, summarize demos were kinda interesting, though I found the examples spooky. You really need to allow Google into your mail, to do those summaries. You really need to allow Google into your photos, to find those kid swimming pictures.
Thanks for another interesting video.
Who are we kidding Juan? Google will make us fall in love with their AI to then split from one AI that works perfectly fine into many that do different things, for no good reason.
Wait!!! They already started doing that. And they didn't even wait for us to depend on it this time.
Now let's just wait for them to scrap the AI for a version that we hate but have to use; well, because we have to.
This deep. I feel ya on these topics.
Good article as always.
10:47 I have not used google search in a dacade now becuase of how bad it is compared to Bing... Like MS co-pilot has already fixed your concerns... it's box is off to the side and want to know more it's a tab and it cites it's sources very much like Wikipedia does... so it's as relible as wikipeida.
Same here. Since Live Search times. I'm getting a bit annoyed with Copilot always loading by the side, but sometimes is actually pretty helpful.
I suppose, but my experience hasn't been great with co-pilot. GPT 4 and 4o have been way better for me. Do you use co-pilot pro?
Hey, Juan. As always, great video, important questions are being asked here.
I dont think they needed to mention anything about the pixel 8a cuz it came out a week ago.
What are your thoughts on the new Sony Xperia 1 VI? Apparently they're ditching the 4k screen and going down to full hd +.
You would think what Google is doing would qualify as copyright infringement.
If Ai uses your content in any capacity, you should be paid handsomely. I don't know what that number is, but it's the right thing to do. High-powered ai crafted content should bring an equal amount of compensation. That would make creators feel more at ease.
There needs to be more tracking of data from AI so that every output that Gemini puts out, there will be a value placed on its usage.
I did watch the entire presentation by the way, but there is one thing that I didn't notice until I saw your video. Rewatching the part where google steps in and stops the phone call is now a bit creepier to me. We all know Google listens to you (they all do), but this is just that one-step-further thing where they are not only listening in on your phone calls, they are stepping in and going 'no no no I CONTROL the conversation now'.
Used in the capacity to stop scam calls is pretty useful. Especially for the elderly which is a real problem. But thinking about the use-cases where you are having a very private conversation and Google outright listening in and potentially TAKING ACTION is very concerning. Where does the data go? That's messed up.
7:39 Same with meta true AR glasses have been teased by like a weak ago... And the AR glasses brands will for sure hqave their version out by the end of the year. So yeah the future we;ve waited for will soon be here.
The hat looks good on you!
Thanks 😊

With the sony xperia 1 vi being out of the water, I just hope you might be able to shed some light on its audio quality, especially the headphone. It is said to have "premium circuitry" in it-- maybe the "walkman magic" we've been waiting for.
Similar to how publishers get paid when visitors view their sites, maybe they can also get paid by Google whenever Gemini extracts information from their sites.
I feel Google is treading REALLY close to another class action or DOJ investigation on their search business...
tbh i find it very difficult to buy into anything that Google charges for - its all because of the pace at which they kill software and services. I even had trouble buying into Gmail because they would have killed that at some point and I had to change my email with people - but I used my own domain with gmail to mitigate that risk till they killed that as well. I think Google is better at building the infrastructure and letting others handle it.
I thought you get SONY XPERIA 1VI to review..😢
6:17 people do do that and the muisctions get endless praise for it... why? They make music not videos.
I guess ai phones is the next big thing.. 📱
3:23 the people who want to ban AI are a funny bunch I talked with a few and they never seem to know what an AI is... One guy even showed me research on Machine learning and said what amounts to... "see the evil AI can't think unless it downloads your MP3s!!!!!" when ML litterllly means what it says it's artfical learning like what I ,you or a dog does ML does for machines... So by extension they want to ban the very act of imperastion the idea of looking at a thing and making a new thing... Monalisa was made using a dacades worth of imperation... if it was banned no Mona lisa. Which has any major AI ever used private copywriten data? Like stuff you can't just right click and copy off the web? The AI banners think so... They never seem to have proof of it.
I hope they take your job first.
You are getting it wrong, we do more than rethinking the same stuff. True art and creativity comes from 'intuition', they don't have it, ML is just advanced statistics (I don't like the word AI). An AI will never generate a brand new painting that Da Vinci would have painted if he was alive. Everything AI generates is 100% based on previous work, not even 1% of it is/can be completely original. They are already running out of data to train these not-so-smart algorithms so I think it'll taper soon, we will not have an exponential AI growth. But the stock price needs to be proped so...
AI Search is a stupid word. Search engines will always be there to gather and index new information from the internet. AI depends on search engines. That's why OpenAI announced their own search engine rather than depending on Google.
You mean crawlers. I suspect there is no way to make the ad model work well with the current AI interface, so they are going for a traditional interface and calling it a search engine.
I did not watch it. I would rather watch your point of view and the tasty hot takes in the comments. AI is coming and there is nothing we can do about it. I just hope it won't turn into skynet at the end of the day.
Reconsider how the hat fits with your look, you can pull it off with the kept beard, but paired with just a casual t-shirt it gives big “m’lady” vibes and I know you’re cooler than that.
6:44 Anymore then the next generation of biologicals will? Like a few months ago me and MS co-pilot wrote this for a fanfic...
(Ruby) “I think we did pretty well today, don't you guys?”
(Weiss) “Of course we did. We're Team RWBY, after all.”
(Blake) “Yeah, we worked together and followed the plan.”
(Yang) “And we kicked some Grimm butt!”
They high-five each other and smile.
(Ruby) “What do you think of the other teams?”
(Weiss) “Well, I think Team JNPR is decent enough. They have potential, especially Pyrrha. She's amazing.”
(Blake) “And she's very nice, too. She helped me with my aura training.”
(Yang) “Yeah, Pyrrha is awesome. But you know who's really awesome? Team RWBY! We're the best team in Beacon, right?”
(Ruby) “Right!”
(Weiss) “Well, of course we are. We have skill, teamwork, and style.”
(Blake) “And a lot of troublemakers.”
(Yang) “Hey, that's part of our charm. We keep things interesting!”
You hear knocking at the door Ruby jumps off her bunk bed putting down her scroll and bursts into Roses to the door…
(Blake) “I wonder what gotten her so excited?” Ruby opens the door to see Team BRAV and team BOLD!
(Ruby) “Tech man is here!” Blair and Blush walk in…
(Weiss) “Tech man? … Wait…” Weiss gets up and walks over a little to close the Blair and examining his armor closely.
(Weiss) “Your armor looks Atlesian… But not… I can’t put my figure on it.”
(Blair) “You’re the heiress to the Schnee dust company, right?”
(Weiss) “Yes… But I’ve never seen anything like this before...”
(Ruby) “I know right it’s so cool!”
(Yang) “So what are you guys here for?”
(Blush) “We were heading out to train we think we have a plan on how to fight together but we need your guys help as we heard about how you finished the initiation…”
(Weiss) “Oh, you heard about that, did you? Well, I suppose it was quite impressive, if I do say so myself. We managed to perfectly coordinate our attacks and use our semblances the best we could to defeat that massive nevermore.”
(Deluge) “Yeah, you guys were outstanding! We saw the footage and we were blown away by your teamwork and skills. You have such a great synergy and balance.”
(Ruby) “Aw, thanks! That means a lot coming from you two. You’re both very talented and powerful fighters handling a Goliath stampede is still a feat, too. We’d love to help you with your training. What’s your plan?”
I mostly just edited it to make sense in the fanffic it's 90% an AI writing a novel based on an moderately popular IP with free shows and wiki and fan fics... So yes right now no softwear limtions an AI can right a fanfic novel... will it replace writers and authors... No like not at all no more then the printing press did.
